I personally really enjoyed this book. Connor and Charlie were an unlikely couple, but from that first meeting in the Caribou parking lot, I knew they would end up together. None the less, the story kept my attention and kept me entertained throughout the book. This is the first book by Suzanne Baltsar that I have read, and I hope this book brings her great success!
This was a nice light break from my more normal genre of thrillers. It had really developed characters and originality in the plot, making it easy to get into and enjoy. I would recommend to those who enjoy romances, with more this era type characters.
Will be using in a challenge and recommending to the members of chapter chatter pub!
This was a cute story about a female football coach making her way in the industry. The assistant coach passed up for the job has a cocky, rude attitude, yet pales in comparison to some.of the older pig-headed men who can't imagine how a female can possibly lead a bunch of teenage boys to victory. Thankfully, Charlotte has the grit, determination, and experience to prove them wrong...and she's not afraid to put a dude in his place when needed. This read is enjoyable just for that aspect alone.
Cute. Predictable like most romances are. The storyline was original and I really enjoyed how Charlie and Connor were both messed up in their own ways - made it more realistic.
It was an easy read and I liked the alternating perspectives.
An easy read with a slow-burning sizzle. I’d read more by this author for sure.
I would actually rates this 3.5. I would say it’s and enjoyable read, but it did not blow me away.
I would read more from this author though.
Note: I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Sidelined was a light, fun, entertaining romance. Charlie was a strong, smart and independent female lead. I loved that she was willing to go for what she wanted and wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. It was refreshing to see such a strong female MC.
I found Connor a bit annoying, admittedly. At the beginning, he came across as childish and immature. I know he was mad that he was passed up for a promotion but the way he handled it was ridiculous. He seemed more like a high school boy pissed that he didn't get captain, rather than a grown man. It was definitely a turn off and complete opposite of how I felt about Charlie.
Overall, this was entertaining and a bit different from other romance novels I read. That said, I was hoping for more of a slow burn with the romance and couldn't really get behind Connor given his bad attitude.
This book was such a fun read and I didn't want to put it down! I really liked the main character Charlie and how strong she was. At first, I didn't like the love interest, Connor, because he was a jerk to Charlie. I ended up liking him and both characters showed a lot of growth by the end of the story. A real page turner and although I'm not into sports or football, it was an interesting part of the book and am important part of Charlie's character. Two thumbs up!
Suzanne Baltsar knows how to write a good romance book. This one had me hooked from the beginning and it was a fairly quick and easy read. I really enjoy a mindless read every now and then, and that’s exactly what this was. I really appreciated that the main character was a female football coach, breaking gender stereotypes and providing a great role model for strong and independent women. The incorporation of football into the story was a perfect amount, it wasn’t overdone for people who aren’t interested in football/sports, but there were enough scenes to satisfy the people that are fans. I also love books that go back and forth between the boy and the girls perspective, which this book did.
There were a few things that I felt kept this book from reaching it’s full potential. First, while I liked Charlie and Connor, neither of them developed throughout the book very much. They both mostly stayed the same, Charlie continued to be stubborn and Connor never learned how to truly express his emotions past saying “I love you”. Speaking of which, I wasn’t sure I actually believed either of them when they declared their love. I felt like they didn’t know enough about each other to feel so strongly. I believed they had chemistry and the ability to fall in love in future, but not yet. Also, the ending seemed too easily resolved. Everything goes from being a mess to being perfect too suddenly. This only bothered me because it didn’t feel real. You will be able to predict nearly everything that happens, nothing is shocking or anything you haven’t seen before. This didn’t particularly bother me because it contributes to the mindlessness of the read, but I recognize it might bother some people.
I did enjoy this book and it was a light read that I’m happy I got the opportunity to experience.
I love football and when the season ends, I find books about football help to fill the void. This was a fun read to keep me cheering for the game. Touchdown!
2.75 rounded to 3. Sidelined had all of the components for a really fantastic romance novel but it fell slightly short for me. I really liked the premise and the idea of a strong female character in Charlie. The problem I had was that at times, Charlie was really unlikable. She also seemed much older than she was. Up until the point where the author gives her age, I thought she was in her late 40's. She also came on way too strong and the dialogue seemed to be a bit harsh at times. I thought the use of her accent was clunky and it was difficult to find it believable because there is an association with a Southern accent and sweetness and there was nothing soft about Charlie. I was longed for the more tender moments between Connor and Charlie and I just didn't feel it. I liked who Connor was but I felt like his character could have also been a little more likable. I definitely enjoyed the story enough to finish it but I don't think I would have been happy with my purchase had I bought the book myself. I think with some character trait changes, this wold be a much better book.
Sidelined had a blurb that made me excited to read it. A woman performing what’s seen as a “mans job” in the tough football world. I had high hopes for this book. While I enjoyed this story it didn’t blow me away like I’d hoped.
The wasn’t a lot of character development. I often felt unsatisfied with both Charlie and Conner. She came across as a bit neurotic and had a HUGE chip on her shoulder, which while deserved, it never seemed to shrink. Even when she was getting support and admiration from those around her. Connor came off as selfish and did more growling then talking.
I liked the football aspect of the story. The pressure of winning and the drive to do right by your players. The supporting cast was fantastic! Their storyline often distracted me from the main characters and left me wishing for more from them.
All and all a good book but I could t connect with the characters enough to love it.
I absolutely loved this book when I started reading I couldn't put it down. I'd never read this author before but the blurb had me wanting to read it. It was different than any other book I'd ever read. Sports romances are my favorite books to read and this one has just become a favorite book of mine. The banter between Connor and Charlie was so good. It had me laughing and wanting more. This book is definitely a must read book. You'll be hooked from the first page until the last. Absolutely loved everything about this book, the authors words, the characters and the banter. Absolutely perfect love story,
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is part of a series, but it didn't feel like I missed too much by not reading the first one (though I plan to now). I liked the nuance that the author used for the two protagonists which made the book more interesting. I definitely plan on reading more books from this author.
This was a cute romantic comedy. Nothing earth shattering here, but a fun read and would be a great beach read.
This is a sweet, funny, romantic read. Charlie and Connor have great chemistry as they meet through their love of football. Charlie has taken the job of head coach and Connor isn't too thrilled but the more time they spend together the more the sparks fly. This was a fun read and just the kind of romance I like! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
Strong female character. Nice read. Some things were predictable but I liked the concept of the book and the characters were very well developed and interesting. I liked a woman coaching a position a man thought was his and the tension that stems. Charlie was an amazing character and the book was written well.

This book is really good. The characters were described well. The pace of the story is good. I will definitely recommend this book to everyone.
Sidelined is a cute romantic comedy about Charlie, the female head coach, and Connor, the assistant coach. It is a love/ hate relationship, with a definite “meet-cute.” After some introspection, they realize hate is not truly the opposite of love, but apathy is. The book was a fun read and I would love to read other books about the supporting characters!
(Will review on Amazon/ Goodreads once the book is published.)
I really enjoyed this book. It's a football themed romance featuring a female head coach as she navigates her new role and develops feelings for her assistant coach. It was nice to read about a female in a leadership role that's not a cheerleader or massage therapist in a sports themed novel. The books was funny and engaging. I liked the characters and felt like there was a real connection between the them. I would recommend this to friends and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Very sweet love story about a female football coach and the assistant coach she falls for. Between the banter, side stories and sports I really enjoyed this book!
