Twins but different, Isis more sedate but a bit klutzy and Electra very talented, a bit of a showoff, and impetuous. Isis and Electra have got some fast reading and learning to do for the fight have come to them. Being half breeds half human the other half an alien race means defending their worlds is a priority and learning about and controlling their new found powers is going to take some time and that is what they do not have.
Goodreads Synopsis:
Twelve-year-old Electra Firma plans to win an Olympic Gold medal in ice skating when she’s old enough to compete. Her coach is convinced she has the talent. That’s the problem. Electra’s talent comes from her part-alien heritage, which gives her superhuman abilities, and her parents forbid her from competing. Depressed, Electra rejects her inheritance and refuses to hone her alien skills. A new threat by an enemy alien race, forces Electra, her identical twin sister Isis, and their best friends to infiltrate the aliens to find the Flute of Enchantment and protect humanity. If Electra doesn’t master shape shifting, she and her best friend face imminent death.
It is a science fiction/fantasy novel cleverly written for children between ages 9-12. As I read it at 20, it is apt that I found it predictable but I certainly would have loved this book had I read it when I was a little kid. I still liked it and found it pretty cute and funny.
