I love reading Jamie Beck. There is crafting well thought out concepts and always a special feel to the works. The Promise of Us continues the winning ways of this author.

We have a woman who had extreme talent in tennis and was on her way to making a name for herself. She had the unfortunate fateful experience of being in the way of a bullet not meant for her. This halted her tennis career, left her with a lifetime pain and a need for another career. Claire rose to the occasion and became a highly talented interior designer.

This wasn't the first time, Claire had to step away from something important to her. The last time was when her childhood best friend for life took Claire's boyfriend from her. She overcame that and moved forward....devastatingly hurt but bore the hurt and moved on...or so she thought.

Now Claire and her business partner are in a tough position. Although their company had been successful, lately things have not been happening as it should. This has left them needing a big project which will get them out of this pickle.

When the brother and sister who played such a huge part of her childhood return to town, Claire is presented with a couple of challenges. First, Peyton, the ex BFF has been stricken with cancer and her brother Logan has put his photographic career on hold. Logan loves his sis and would do whatever to make this battle better. Peyton misses her old friend and Logan wants to bring them back together so he figures out a way to push this with a redo of his condo.

Claire needs the business for her company...
Logan figures he will be able to work on Claire and get her to understand his sister...
The only hiccup is Claire seems to still have feelings for Logan and he is someone who she thinks she should stay far away from.

Jamie Beck takes all of this and works magic.

This story is about facing your fears, finding yourself, and the changing relationships in your life. This is a sweet romance story where the characters show a lot of growth. They’re really just trying to figure out who they are in the world. Claire is so strong, but also caged by her fears. She’s trying to navigate her friendship, or lack there of with Payton, and her attraction to Payton's brother Logan. Logan is super caring and has the best intentions but you know what they say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Logan seems way more put together, but he’s also trying to figure out himself throughout the story. It's like both characters don't even realize they need change to be happy. Overall, this was an easy and entertaining read!

Claire is trying to focus on building and expanding her business as she faces yet another challenge: the return of her former best friend, Peyton, who betrayed her. Claire has battled back from adversity before, when she lost her budding tennis career for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She's a very talented interior designer and she enjoys working with her best friend, Steffi, but they need more business and fast.

Logan was born in a family of wealth and privilege. Apart from his parents who always seemed more concerned with the family name and reputation, Logan has had a pretty easy life. He's handsome, sexy, charming, and confident. He's an incredibly talented photographer who loves to travel and make the most of every moment. When he learned of Peyton's cancer diagnosis, he just about dropped everything to be by her side.

Logan has never had an issue with going after what he wants and he firmly believes that the ends justify the means when it comes to getting what he wants. At the top of his wish list is for Claire to forgive Peyton and resume their friendship again. Logan and Claire have known each other for most of their lives and he's surprised by how much Claire has changed. She may still blush around him, but she's also calling him out on his motivations.

Claire is dismayed to realize she hasn't outgrown her crush on Logan. They are opposites is just about every way, including their views on Peyton. In taking on the redesign of Logan's New York apartment, she can't avoid spending time with Logan. He challenges her to rethink her life and willingness to take chances while she challenges him to change his relationship with his parents.

The Promise of Us is emotional, healing, and sweet. Jamie Beck provided conflict, angst, romance, and friendship, while developing the characters and relationships. Ms. Beck continued to develop an interesting cast of characters for the Sanctuary Sound series. The Promise of Us can be read as a standalone book in the series. Fans of Catherine Anderson and Shelly Alexander will enjoy The Promise of Us.

I though this was a great second book in the series. I liked this one just as much as the first one. Great for a rainy afternoon. Highly recommend!

Loved it. Jamie Beck has a true talent when it comes to writing. Her stories are beautifully done, with so much heart & soul. They take us on a journey through love & friendship, joy & sadness, despair & defeat & endearing loyalty. As with all her stories the topics faced are serious & life altering at times which only grabs you & draws you in further & The Promise of Us is no different. The heart wrenching story of lost friendships, dealing with a new reality because of illness & the after effects of someone’s poor choices & living in a small town where everyone knows the story & everyone has an opinion. Claire & Peyton had been childhood friends until a poor choice changed all that. Now Logan is bringing his sister home to heal & hopes to heal the rift between the two friends. What he doesn’t expect is to have his life changed by Claire. As he tries to get her to forgive Peyton & start to live a new life unafraid of what ifs, the past & statistics he sees Claire in a new way & Claire is given the chance to have Logan to herself in ways she only ever dreamed of. The rocky road to growth is marred with setbacks & hurtles that seem unpassable, but Logan & Claire push forward hoping their future will be better than their past or present. Definitely recommend this book & series.

3.5 Stars! With this novel, I did something I never do, start a series mid-way. I’m a stickler for starting series from Book 1 and this is Book 2 in the Sanctuary Sound series and I loved it. Whilst I can see how the experience might have been enriched by understanding all the heroine’s best friend had been through in Book 1, I don’t think it’s necessary to have read it to understand Claire and Logan’s story.

This somewhat weighty romance novel covers such themes as fear, PTSD, random acts of violence, cancer, guilt, dealing with betrayal and forgiveness, but all done in the least melodramatic way that is a pleasure to read. Sanctuary Sound is a placid sort of setting that frames these somewhat heavy themes very nicely. This reminds me a lot of the work of Robin Carr or even of a soothing, emotional, but not heartbreaking romance.

I think sometimes the themes of forgiveness was dealt with a little ham-fistedly in the hands of the characters (especially Logan and the old book club ladies) and that’s why this doesn’t get the full four stars from me, but overall, I enjoyed reading this- my first (but hopefully not my last) from this author.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher, Montlake Romance, through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I would never praise a book I didn’t like just because I got it for free.

I am an avid reader/fan of Jamie Beck’s work. This book definitely doe not disappoint. I did not want to put the book down once I got started and I didn’t want it to end.

Claire is a special character and has known Logan since she was young - after crushing on him for many years they find themselves together. Sometimes we need to grow up, live our lives for ourselves and only then we can truly accept the love of another person.

Definitely make this one of your priority reads this year!

While I really enjoyed the first book in this series, this one did not jibe as well for me. I really wanted to like Logan and Claire but did not quite connect with them as I would have liked. It was an interesting storyline and how the characters professions played a role in their choices. Overall it just was not for me. I do really like this author and look forward to what she comes out with next.

This book of the highs and lows of friendships and is ultimately about the trust that lives between three life-long friends. This story revolves around Claire, Peyton, and Steffi. The challenges that are incorporated into this story are those including cancer diagnosis and treatment, divorce and PTSD. The story line was fun, but at times less than realistic. Though I did appreciate the attempts made at covering such difficult topics and teaching the reader the honest challenges of complicated lives.

A beautiful story of self-discovery and self-reflection, but also on courage to venture outside of usual environments and to try something new.
The "Sanctuary Sounds"-series continues wiht "The Promise of Us" featuring Claire McKenna and Logan Prescott, who could not be more different to another. She is more of a homebody, who doesn't like to venture outside of her home town, because of a tragic accident in her past and Logan Prescott, who is always on the way to his next story where his photography takes him.
Worlds apart, but still perfect for each other.
Kept apart due to Claire unwillingness to forgive Logans sister for stealing her previous boyfriend.
A very nice small town story about two people finding each other and seeing each other in a different light, after years apart.
I really enjoyed the story, the conflicts they had to overcome and the sweet story telling. Somehow the characters already feel like friends.
I just felt, that some of the mentioned topics ( gun violence /attacts against citizens as well as the refugee crises in the Middle East) were a little bit too prominent and felt like waggling your finger against all the injustice in the world. Probably one topic would have been enough, as there is also the topic of cancer disease a focus, which is for many people more tangible and relable. Not saying the other topics should be ignored, but with these many "heavy" topics it might scare people to much.
Nevertheless I liked for both characters their personal growth and working on their short comings.
Very much looking forward to the 3rd book in the series as it tells the tale of Logans sister and the third woman of the Liliac Lane trio.

Thanks to Montlake Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced reading copy.

True friendship wins out in this wonderful book by Jamie Beck. Family and friendship struggle to find level footing, and a search for forgiveness. Loved the story of Claire, Logan and Peyton.

This book was received as an ARC from Montlake Romance in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

If you love romantic comedies with a dash of drama, this book is for you. I always love a story about a couple who knew each other back when they were little children and the dash of drama with his sister being her former best friend that betrayed her a while back and her brother is her childhood sweetheart. Romance have unique endings and they always end up working out in the end and this book is no different.

We will consider adding this title to our Romance collection in our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I didn't hate this book the way I did Steffi's, but this wasn't that much better for me. I don't know if perhaps I can't gel with the author or the characters just aren't relate-able but something is amiss.

I liked Clair in book number one and I really thought that even with her past trauma we'd still be able to see her strength come through. Claire is definitely the most relate-able of characters due to her insecurities, fears, and relationship dynamics. I got where she was coming from, but the author just wrote her a little too weak for me.

Logan is a character that I just cannot vibe with. I think he was a great brother and support to his sister. His parents are awful people and you could see that he was looking for someone, anyone to understand him and keep him grounded while letting him be free. My issue was his inability to understand that people are entitled to their feelings. Especially, seeing as his parents were so inflexible in that department.

Peyton, I still hate her so I won't be reading her book. I don't care what happens to her. I don't know if both she and her brother are a product of their upbringing and the selfishness is something the reader is supposed to understand and empathize with, but that didn't work for me. People don't change because it's what will make you happy.

I did like that Logan pushed Claire to brave the outside of her comfort zone. She fought hard against him, but in the end she was better for it.

I don't condemn her parents for their smothering personalities because I've never nearly lost my child to a terrorist attack and had to see her rebuild her life and find new dreams. That's a family that needed to seek therapy and I think that's where the author loses me.

Do a little more research and identify resources for her characters. I always feel that there is something missing that is vital to the development of the characters.

So again, this is the end of the line for me because I like Steffi's brother but I just loathe Peyton and I don't wish to see anymore of her, her family nor Steffi.

The premise of "The Promise of seemed interesting. And the i liked the cover too. I tried really hard but this book is just not for me. I simply couldn't feel anything. There was no chemistry between the main characters. The hero mainly seemed to me arrogant and always thinking about tricks and plots. I just couldn't like him. The conversations are all mixed up also. sometimes it's in 3rd person and sometimes not.Maybe it's a good story but clearly not for me. So i will not be posting this to any other sites for your benefit.

(Thank you netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the Arc in exchange of an honest review.)

I'm a big fan of Jamie beck and this second novel in the series does not disappoint . Claire is trying to live a simple life while still struggling with PTSD for years. She has loved Logan for so long, but is afraid to be hurt and let go of her fears. Logan eventually shows her life is meant to be lived and not hide behind her past. lobe s this story and can't wait to read more

I know the story addressed some heavy topics (PTSD and cancer) but I wish there was a bit more humor in them. Claire was way too rigid and negative for my MFC. Even in her places she felt safe she was rigid. I really liked Logan and how he tried to work things out with Claire and Peyton plus try to help Claire. I liked Peyton more than Claire even with what Peyton did.

This romance was very different from what I usually read. Mainly I think, because the character have very petty reactions throughout the book. Usually heroes act the way you know you should. Claire and Logan were very much average people, doing and saying dumb or hurtful things at times.
There was something very compelling in the writing that kept me reading. I really enjoyed the small town feel as well as Claire's issues and fears to branch out.
I didn't like Logan's view of love and romance. He ended up changing his tune but it was super late and I didn't really buy it. I felt like Claire was right, Logan was great just not great for her.
