While I loved the premise of the story about the woman wanting to have her own independence, I did not enjoy the portrayal of the characters themselves. Amelia wavers between being a strong woman with a backbone of steel and then bends to the Scotsman's will seemingly spinelessly. While the chemistry had its moments, the drawbacks of the book reduced it to a 2.5 stars for me :(
