Doctor for Christmas by Patricia Fischer is book 3 and the last book in the "Marietta Medical" series.
The other books are: Resisting the Doctor and Challenging the Doctor.
It´s a story about Dr. Thomas and Dr. Lucy and I truly love stories set in the fictional town of Marietta but this one just did not cut it. I enjoyed the for one in this series, but this last one just ran out of steam for me.

Loved this Christmas story between nurse Shelly and Dr Peter. Peter is on his way with his twins, 9 year olds that he just found out about to Marietta to spend the holidays with his family. Shelly is also on her way back to Marietta with her son and niece from her wedding in Vegas that didn't happen. Peter is involved in an accident, with whom no other than, Santa Claus (Mr Nichols). Shelly comes upon the accident. Two lost souls, that find comfort in each other that develop into so much more. Can it be love in one week or is it just lust.

Such a fun story, with so many Christmas traditions in Marietta, really puts you in the mood for the holidays. Great chemistry between Peter and Shelly. I really felt for Peter, not knowing about his twins, just wow. Loved all of kids!! A well written story that I had a hard time putting down. I highly recommend.

Book three in the Marietta Medical series, Doctor for Christmas is a lovely story that blends two broken families to make one whole. With all the community feels that readers have come to associate with Marietta, this story is about second chances and healing. Throw in the glitter of Christmas and the town’s very own Santa Claus and you have a heartwarming story.
Dr Peter Davidson didn’t expect to suddenly find himself the father of nine year-old twins, which is exactly what happened when his former girlfriend died in a car crash. Having collected them from their mother’s home in Maine he takes the children to Marietta, Montana to introduce them to his brother and sister and to spend Christmas.
Nurse Shelly Westbrook is emotionally battered after a reunion and wedding to her ex-husband Gill goes pear-shaped. She’s certainly not in any shape to enter into a new relationship no matter how strongly she feels attracted to Peter when they meet.
Throw in the complication of Peter’s twins and Shelly’s teenage son and these two have plenty to overcome on their road to happy ever after. It’s Christmas though and Marietta has some Christmas magic in store in the form of Mr Nicolas, the town’s resident Santa.
I enjoyed this story. It had plenty to keep the pages turning and it was nice to see Peter and Shelly forge a lovely blended family.

After Shelly's disastrous almost remarriage to her ex -husband she just wants to get her son and niece back to Marietta to save the holiday. On the way home they come upon a crash.. car vs sleigh. Make that Santa's sleigh complete with the guy in the red suit. Being a nurse, Shelly stops to help. Dr. Davidson was minding his own business when a sleigh came out of no where and they collided. All he was trying to due was take his new found children to Marietta for a fresh start with the help of his family.Instead he has a cut on his head, a concussion and is hallucinating that a beautiful angel is talking to him. It is none other than nurse Shelly. When he wakes in the hospital he can't stop thinking about the beautiful angel. She can't help but check on him. Can two broken hearts find their way to a happily ever after? Great read.

A wonderful story about Peter, who just recently found out about his 9-yo twins, and now has to be their sole parent, and Shelly, a nurse who works with Peter's siblings, who breaks off her engagement to her ex at the Vegas altar! So many tropes! And of course it all takes place at Christmas in a snow storm with a Santa sleigh and Mr. Nicholas (who knows more than he should!). I had fun with this story and I loved all the characters and the kids (who wouldn't love these kids?). I hadn't read the previous stories in the series, but I'm intrigued now...

Fischer's Marietta Medical series (heavily influenced by The Chronicles of Narnia) has now gotten through Lucy, Edmund, and Peter, who is the focus of Doctor for Christmas. In the Narnia series, Lucy and Peter were always my favorites, something that has not translated to this series. Here, Edmund (Challenging the Doctor) is easily my favorite. Peter just wasn't doing it for me.

And frankly, Polly and Digory just were not the best choice of names for his children, no matter how tied to the Narnia books they are. Speaking of Polly and Digory: they were both too old for their chronological ages using language far advanced for their years. Sullen Digory and bright, chirpy Polly both had issues with characterization that I just could not get over. I felt that neither worked well for their age and both felt flat and uni-dimensional.

Of the four in Narnia, only Susan is ever shown in a more sexual light - in A Horse and His Boy, Susan is being courted. So, it's fairly easy to give Lucy, Edmund, and Peter whoever you want because there are no expectations. Peter's innate honesty and overall goodness (both in Narnia and here) is then contrasted against the fact that the mother of his children didn't trust him. To Peter, as well as to me, that was a direct slap in the face.

Peter felt two-dimensional at best. He seemed mostly clueless, helpless, frustrated, and very alone. These are not qualities I would ascribe to his namesake and I found them frustrating here. Peter was incapable of taking charge; constantly hurt by his ex; and overall kind of wimpy.

Shelly, on the other hand, felt strong and powerful even as she dealt with the latest betrayal by her own ex. She stepped up, kept on going, and generally showed us all what a strong woman is capable of. With two teenagers to care for, a nursing career, and life in general, Shelly was the strength Peter leaned on. I liked Shelly a lot and liked how she dealt with the bitter blows of life. I liked her kids and their love and protectiveness toward her. I liked her sense of fun and her warmth that so easily included Polly and Digory.

I was deeply disappointed by the reveal - the secret to why Peter's ex kept him in the dark about the kids. I'm also less than impressed by the actions of some of the secondary characters involved. While Peter was less than impressive, this was still a feel-good Christmas story. With only Susan - the most problematic of the Narnia children - left, I am curious how things will shake out when she arrives.

I enjoyed reading about Peter and Shelly in Doctor for Christmas by Patricia W. Fischer, book three in her Marietta Medical series. Dr. Peter Davidson travels to Marietta, Montana to be with his siblings as he is in need of family support. Peter had his hands full with grieving eight year old twins, he hadn’t known about; receiving guardianship of them after the recent unexpected death of their mother. As he approaches the town he has a slight accident with Santa and his sleigh. While waiting for the EMTs, Nurse Shelly Westbrook arrives on the scene. Shelly, accompanied by her teen son and niece, was returning to Marietta after a disastrous trip to Las Vegas and a final break with her cheating ex-husband. Peter falls for Shelly at first sight, but with all of disappointments she’s suffered at the hands of her ex-, Shelly does not trust or believe in love at first sight. It might just take a miracle for Peter to convince her that they belonged together.

The way Peter’s family accepted and loved on his children was what a family does. Also, Shelly’s son and niece were wonderful role models as the four of them spent time together. Being able to work at the hospital was helpful for Peter, especially in figuring out whether or not he and the kids could move to Marietta. The addition of these four children played a vital role in this story, enriching it. I loved how Shelly and Peter helped each other find the happiness they deserved.

Ms. Fischer wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. It had me laughing, crying and everything in between. This story is filled with sexual attraction, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. I highly recommend Doctor for Christmas to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Christmas spells the end to a heartbreaking year for nurse, Shelly Westbrook. Could a change of scenery be just the pickup she needs to change her point of view? Doctor for Christmas is a sweetheart of a way to target seasonal blues. Patricia Fischer helps ward off the chill of winter with a heartwarming tale of new beginnings and happy endings.

After travelling to remarry her ex-husband he lets her down yet again. Nurse Shelly Westbrook returns home with their seventeen year old son, Freddie,  and her niece, Tia, only to discover an accident en route involving a car and Santa's sleigh! Dr. Peter Davidson is heading to Marietta to visit with his sister Lucy and brother Edmund planning to introduce them to his nine year old twins, Polly and Digory, who he's known about for less than a month.  Peter has hit his head, cutting it and causing concussion and he is convinced that Shelly is an angel . . . . Staying in Marietta for Christmas his children are quickly introduced to the caring community, helped by Shelly and her children. Get ready to go ice skating on Miracle Lake, join in the festive activities, experience more surprises - including some from Santa - as well as romance in this heartwarming story in one of my all time favourite settings.

The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. Peter is struggling to be a parent and help the children cope with their grief and turmoil. Shelly is so caring and amazing, especially after how poorly she's been treated in the past. The attraction between her and Peter is mutual but will they allow themselves to love after all the heartache in their past? There are some tear jerking moments in this very moving read, especially when Peter discovers just why their mother disappeared from his life and never told him about their twins. It is a delightful, moving read that I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone who enjoys emotive festive romances with children acting as matchmakers!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this review is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

I really thought that perhaps Doctor for Christmas by Patricia Fischer would be somewhat anticlimactic after the last book’s big mystery reveal. However, I was happily surprised in spite of the cheesy cover.

This one also has a collision of sorts in it but it is way different from any other. It is quite the interesting and fun read. Shelly Westbrook and family need a wonderful holiday season but then so does Peter Davidson. I enjoyed seeing the two medical personnel find the holiday spirit as well as finding love in Marietta, Montana.

Peter has the bad luck of hitting Santa's sleigh as he is driving into Marietta, Montana. He has his nine year old twins in the car, who are convinced that means they are on the naughty list now. Shelley is coming back into Marietta after almost marrying her ex-husband in Las Vegas. His pregnant other woman stopped the show, so now Shelley is heading home with her 17 year old son and her teenage niece with her. Coming across the accident, she gets out and decides to check on the situation, since she is a nurse. Sparks fly, and Peter and Shelley hit it off, as do the kids. I really enjoyed this book and the characters, however, the speed of the hellos to the I love yous seems really fast. Needed a bit more for me to fully accept the lasting ability of it, but otherwise a good story and one I highly recommend.

Just about anything can happen in Marietta, Montana, and usually does… especially around Christmas time. So a car vs Santa’s sleigh? Not beyond the realm of possibilities in this town!

Dr. Peter Davidson is heading to Marietta to visit with his sister Lucy (Resisting the Doctor), and brother Edmund (Challenging the Doctor) with his newly discovered twins for the Christmas season. His life has turned upside down, and all he’s looking for is to get to his family and figure out what happens next. The last thing he expected was to actually run into a Christmas sleigh driven by a man in red or the lovely angel who tended to him right after the wreck. Both will play a large part in his life from this moment on.

Shelly came home to Marietta hoping to find some of that famous Christmas magic for herself, her son and her niece. It’s been… well, it’s been quite a year, one she’ll be glad to see the back end of that’s for sure. Probably the last thing she expected was to come upon a wreck between Santa’s sleigh and a car involving one handsome man with an obvious concussion and two children. She also probably couldn’t have imagined that she’d just met her future… but she’s back home in Marietta so she should have known better. *wink*

If you’re looking for a fun, sizzling, family loving, magical Christmas story, and happen to love anything Marietta, Montana — then Doctor for Christmas is perfect for your holiday reading list. Shelly and Peter each have very good reasons for not risking their hearts ever again. Yet one accident, one small town with a track record of happy ever afters and the magic of Christmas are about to change lives once again. I had fun with this story, enjoyed catching up with old friends as well. If you love a good romance, interesting characters, have a Marietta Montana obsession or simply love a good Christmas Romance… then you’ll want to pick up Doctor for Christmas this season. Indulge yourself and enjoy.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

A knowing Santa, a lost father and a caring nurse plus two children and two teens all combine to create an endearing (and sizzling at times) and touching Christmastime story.
Literally running into Santa and his sleigh with his car, Dr. Peter Davidson and his twins, Digory and Polly, begin their trip to Marietta to surprise his siblings. Getting a concussion in the wreck was not in his pans nor was meeting nurse Shelly Westbrook. She’s returning from a non-wedding to her lousy ex-husband.
The magic of Christmas and Marietta works wonders for the motley crew of Peter, Digory and Polly and Shelly and her teens. Always listen to Santa!

After the wedding that didn't happen Shelly Westbrook just wants to get her son and niece back to Marietta and make the best of what's left of the holidays. On the way they come across an accident between a car and wait...is that a sleigh?? Dr. Peter Davidson has just found out he's a father to an adorable set of twins. They are on their way to Marietta to spend the holidays with his family when a sleigh darts out in front of him. He's positive the face he looks up into is that of an angel. He may be hallucinating but it's Shelly's dreams that are about to come true.

Wonderful holiday story that I think everyone will enjoy.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I have read the other books in this series by the wonderful author, Patricia W. Fischer. In Doctor For Christmas, we meet the third Davidson sibling, Peter. I loved how Patricia used the names from Narnia. We learn immediately that Dr. Peter has just found out he’s a dad to nine year old twins Polly and Digory. Their mother was killed in a car crash and they are coming to Marietta for Christmas to surprise and be with Lucy and Edmond. Peter is trying so hard to be an instant dad but he is also very upset as to why his long time love never told him she was pregnant. At the start, Peter has an accident on the road to Marietta. The roads are icy and he hits a man who looks like Santa in a motorized sleigh. He has hit his head and it’s bleeding. He gets out to check on the sleigh and it’s driver and has a lovely chat with Mr. Nicholas, a resident of Marietta.

Nurse Shelly Westbrook passes the accident scene and stops. She is returning from her failed wedding to remarry his faithless cad of an ex husband. Her son Freddy and niece Tia are with her. At the ceremony in Las Vegas, her ex’s pregnant girlfriend and their two toddlers show up and thats it for Shelly and crew. Shelly and Peter have some instant chemistry and the 4 kids hit it off, even though Shelly’s are older teens. The On Star connection calls the hospital and EMT’s for Peter and soon all are on their way to Marietta General where the three siblings are reunited.

After he is healed, Peter plans to spend the holidays in Marietta with his family and now Shelly’s family. The twins and Peter are working on building a relationship. Shelly and Peter start to keep build a relationship but Peter doesn’t know if he’s returning to Florida where he lives, or going to Maine where his ex was raising the twins or staying in Marietta with his family and Shelly’s family. There is an envelope left toPeter from the twins mother Simone to be opened in an emergency and he is avoiding doing so. When he does finally open it, I was very surprised as to what Simone’s reasons are.

I loved this book. I have loved all the books in this series. Patricia uses romance, a little mystery, family love and the wonderful backdrop of Marietta in this book. Definitely 5 Stars!
