This was a really sweet book that follows up the story of Lucas and Ryan. I loved watching them grow into their relationship and later as a family. I love happy books like this one that show a couple that isn't your normal subject for a romance novel.
Lucas and Ryan are finally settling into their lives and want to start a finally of their own, a process that they think will take years for them to see results. While in Australia for Christmas, Ryan gets news that he decides to share with Lucas on New Year's Eve.
This was a great check in book to see Lucas and Ryan are faring and what is going on in their lives, it was nice to get another glimpse at the characters and to see how they have grown, as well as to see where life is taking them in the future.
This is a little sequel to Shipped which features Ryan and Lucas of the Until You series. I adored Ryan and Lucas so this was a lovely little snippet into their HEA.
It was sweet and beautiful. I loved watching them evolve as a couple and now as a family. If you haven't read Shipped than I suggest you do that first, as it won't make a lot of sense otherwise. Or it will feel too light and fluffy. But if you have read Shipped then this a sweet little bonus story for all the Ryan and Lucas lovers
This short story/novella is a Christmas follow-up to Shipped. I've not read the original novel, but enough information is given in the short story that I wasn't lost in this tale. Unfortunately I wasn't thrilled by this tale of New Year celebrations, maybe if I had read the original novel I would have been more invested in the characters but as it stands, having read this doesn't make me want to go back and read their main story. The characters were overly lovey-dovey, the language over the top, and the sex scene boring (and too long for such a short story).
I'm sure fans of the original story will love it though.
I wanted to read a LGBT romance for quite some time so when I saw this book I took the opportunity. I think the book talks about important things that gay couples are facing nowadays and I liked that side of the story but I found the story a little bit boring even though it was very short.
I've only read the first book in this series, so it was a relief to see that this was about the same characters I knew from before. Just like the first book, this was written with the same fantastical, overly sentimental tone I find in a lot of straight romance books. This will definitely be to some people's liking, as romance requires some fantasy, but others may find it to be too cheesy. Lucas and Ryan are in True Love, and looking to adopt. This is a cute little story that adds on to the first, and may build into some of the later books, I don't know. It didn't feel too festive, with a brief description of Christmas, and some fireworks and dinner for New Years, so this can probably be enjoyed all year long without feeling too Christmasy. I wish that we got to see them meeting their son in this, instead of just talking about how excited they were, but maybe that's covered in a later book.
The quotes about their relationship from fandom that drove me crazy in the first book are gone, which was awesome. I do feel confused about the direction the series has gone in, as the first book was very specifically about shipping two actors and that lifestyle, while this and the rest of the series is about finding abused children??? What a weird turn around.
Overall, it was a cute, sappy tale suitable for year round reading, but confusing if you haven't read at least the first book in the series. You can definitely not just pick up the details if you haven't.
I think this book is terrible. It's badly written and totally without any redeeming features. The dialogue was really quite nauseating and while the sex might have been wonderful for the participants it was so long winded I, for one, fell asleep. I don't like giving bad reviews but this really could have been written as a quite good short story.
New Year’s Shippin’ Eve was a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas read, with likeable characters and an easy to follow storyline. As an Aussie myself, it was lovely to read a story that celebrated our down under Christmas tradition. A quick and sometimes emotional story, that left me smiling and feeling warm inside.
WARNING: Do not make the same mistake I did, and think this is linked to The Love of a Woodsman. I believed these stories to be part of the same series due to the almost identical covers, however New Year’s Shippin’ Eve is the sequel to Karrie Roman’s SHIPPED and part of her UNTIL YOU series.
I absolutely adore Karrie Roman’s work. This was another fine addition to the “Until You” universe, with Lucas and Ryan celebrating Christmas in Australia as they make major plans for their future. Even though I normally don’t like _______ (no spoilers lol), the descriptions were so sweet and Ryan and Lucas’ discussions about <spoiler> made even me feel warm and fuzzy inside! I only wish it was a tad longer so we could see them with <spoiler> more. Karrie Roman is one of my new favorite authors, and I’m looking forward to book four in the Until You universe. Maybe some more short stories even? <3 <3 <3
The danger that stalked them is in the past, they’ve settled into their celebrity roles and the love between them continues to burn. They’ve signed all the paperwork to adopt a child and now await their longed for child to come along. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Karrie Roman is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.
