This is the first book I have read by Mary Burton and it won’t be the last. I loved the characters and hope to see them again. The storyline was excellent, with nuggets of information being dripped in as the plot unravels. It was fever pitched until the very end.
FBI agent Macy Crow is sent to investigate a murder, there she ends up working with an ex FBI agent who is now the sheriff and who she had a romantic past with.. The romance is kept to a minimum as the investigation progresses and they concentrate all their efforts into finding a murderer/rapist.
This romantic suspense thriller is very entertaining. The story flows nicely and the characters are believable and well developed. It very well keeps you interested. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Thank you #netgalley #hideandseek #maryburton
If by chance you read Mary Burton's last book, Cut and Run, you might recognize the main character of Macy Crow. In that book, she was critically injured in a hit and run and in this book she is trying to re-establish herself as a capable FBI agent even id her body is not totally healed. However, you don't have to read that book to enjoy this one. Although I do recommend both books.
This was a very enjoy mystery with just a touch of romance. Agent Crow is paired up with a past love who is now the sheriff that has requested FBI assistance. The romance is kept to a minimum as the focus is almost entirely focused on catching a serial rapist/murderer. A solid mystery that kept my interest and has me waiting for more by this author.
During demolition of a barn outside Deep Run, Virginia a red backpack and human bones have been discovered. FBI Agent Macy Crow is sent to Deep Run to investigate and ends up working with former FBI Agent and now Sheriff Mike Nevada. Macy has worked with Mike before when he was still an FBI agent. They also had an affair when they worked together. Macy isn't sure what to expect when she meets up with Mike again but she knows they work well together. As for the attraction, only time will tell.
The investigation into the murder becomes more complicated when the DNA found on the backpack links the murder to several rapes which occurred around the same time as the murder. Macy and Mike have their work cut out for them.
Hide and Seek by Mary Burton is an intense, well-thought-out romantic suspense story. The author kept me on the edge of my seat as I read this thrilling suspense story. Mary Burton is one of my favorite authors and I am looking forward to the next thrilling adventure she will take me on.
Firstly I have not read this author, well I thought I hadn't but I have and this time around I was very pleased to say I really enjoyed this psycho killer, faced paced, twisty story.
I enjoyed the characters, and the romance was nice. What i did enjoy is the author can create a crime, and that it held my attention right until the end. It was very creepy, and I have to mention that the crimes, rape and such my bother some.
I look forward to the next instalment.
Just when I didn’t think I could love Mary Burton’s books anymore...I read Hide and Seek! I picked this book up and couldn’t put it down! It was that great!
We met Macy Crow in the previous book Cut and Run. Macy is recovering from a hit and run accident (more like someone tried to kill her) while she was working her last case. She is trying to make her way back in the FBI and is offered the chance to assist on a case in Deep Run. There she runs into the new sheriff Nevada (who she has a history with). Sparks fly, they start tracking down leads and the story takes off!!!
Small town lies, coverups, secrets and more start bubbling to the surface and I couldn’t wait to see how it would all end. The characters were awesome, I had the ones I cheered for, the ones I hated. The storyline was suspenseful and kept me entertained and reading well past my bedtime to get to the end. Now my only problem is I want to know what is next for Mary and Nevada???? I need more.
Hide and Seek is the first book in the Criminal Profiler Series by Mary Burton. Hide and Seek brings back two characters from a previous book, FBI Agent Macy Crow and former FBI Agent and now local Sheriff Mike Nevada. The characters are well written and the story line fast paced. The mysterious killer in this book was so creepy I had to close my curtains. I was afraid someone was looking into my windows! Suspense, Mystery, and Romance! What more could you want in a great book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this new series. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and this is my honest review.
Could not put it down. Although the next book in a series you do not have to have read the one before to be able to follow the story line and immerse yourself in the action. As always the characters are well developed and the plot is intriguing. Will Macy healed enough to take on the challenge? Will she and Nevada sort out their past relationship? Will the killer take another young woman's life? You will savor every twist and turn!
Burton's characters are multidimensional and "real". The story kept me riveted from tip to toe. I felt like I came to know Macy Crow and how she morphed from the introduction to her in Cut and Run. Hunting serial killers is what she is made for and maybe the sheriff is the one she needs to ground her. Can't wait for the next story!
This was a very good story, one that keeps your interest. Very glad Macy and Nevada got back together again. Old cases come forward to the here and now, murder and rapes repeating themselves. Small towns hold horrible secrets along with an ex sheriff who didn't quite do his job. There are plenty of suspects but in the end the ugly truth comes forward.
Thank you for the advanced copy. I have truly enjoyed all of Mary Burton's books, some I've read more than once.
Mary Burton's books are always well written and researched. Her characters are believable and this particular heroine is strong and smart. The plot has the right amount of twists and turns, and kept me guessing until the end. The romance isn't necessarily passionate, but overall, this was a good read in the romantic suspense genre.
Mary Burton is one of my absolute favorite authors. The story line and characters are so real.
Macy Crow is a Special Agent with the FBI. Trying once again to prove that she deserves a spot on the Elite team after she was hurt and almost killed. FBI is her life. They decide to see if she is up to the task, when she is
sent to Texas to help the local sheriff in a 15 year cold case. Doing research on this case they realize they are dealing with a serial killer.
Mike Nevada has decided to settle down in this town and becomes their Sheriff, which surprises Macy since she had worked with him once before and still finds she has feelings for him.
This book was fantastic!! I had a very hard time being able to put it down. It is a race to see if Macy and Nevada can find the killer before the killer strikes again.
Hide and Seek is the first book in Mary Burton's newest series Criminal Profiler. Intense, fast-paced, suspenseful with a bit of romance thrown in the mix. This story gripped me from Page 1 and didn't let go. I'm fairly new to Mary Burton and all I can think of every time I read one of her stories, is where has this author been my whole life?
I devoured this book. The case was very intriguing. Macy Crow is an awesome Criminal Profiler. What happened to Brooke Bennett in high school is creepy. I reccomend reading Cut and Run before you read Hide and Seek.
I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
I hadn't read anything by Mary Burton in a while and I don't know why. This was a fast paced, suspenseful read with some romance. She is very good at creating a crime, mystery that holds the attention and keeps the reader guessing until the end. Be aware that the crimes in this book are rape and that may bother some people. This is the first book in what looks like is going to be a series and the main characters were interesting and likable. This book could be read as a stand alone and came to a conclusion, but I can't wait to read more and find out what happens with Macy, Nevada and the other characters she bring back for future novels. An excellent and recommended read!
Burton is one of my go-to authors for great romantic suspense/thriller reads. The stories are always engaging with down-to-earth likeable characters and strong storylines full of mystery, suspense and sprinkles of romance; along with connections to previous books – like this one. This is a compelling read you will not want to put down until you are through.
I loved Macy’s character; she was strong, resilient, determined, kind-hearted and dedicated to her job. I really enjoyed her working with Sheriff Nevada and their interaction throughout the story. There were plenty of tense, suspenseful moments as well as action, some light-hearted moments, and romance. I liked how Macy and Nevada were able to compartmentalize their work and personal relationships, with neither overshadowing the main plot of the book. I also enjoyed Deputy Brooke Bennett’s character and think it would be awesome if she had her own book. It seems like there is more than meets the eye with her and she would have an interesting story to tell.
*Many thanks to the publisher for the advanced copy of this read I received thru NetGalley.
This book is classic Mary Burton. The story follows FBI agent Macy Crow who is back to work after recovering from a harrowing hit and run where she was the victim. Macy is a female character with lots of grit and determination. She is sent to help Sheriff Mike Nevada, a former love interest of Macy's, unravel the case of a body that is found which is identified as Toby Turner who was a teenage girl missing since 2004. As it turns out, this case might be tied to several local rapes over the years and even other murders. This is a fast and enjoyable read which draws the reader in from the first page. It has a good mix of mystery and romance.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book
the first in a new series but we meet up with macy crow again following on from her last big adventure...macy wants to work in the profiler section of the fbi and she gets sent down to see what she can find out during an investigation...she teams up yet again with nevada

Thankyou to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the author, Mary Burton, for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Hide And Seek in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I thought this book offered a good, quick, suspenseful, read. I enjoyed it.
The book was well written with plenty of nail biting suspense to keep you guessing.
Well worth a read.
I have enjoyed all the books from Mary Burton and this one was no exception. I liked Macy the first time she showed up in Cut and Run. In this book we get a good mystery and very interesting characters. I really like Macy and Nevada as a couple! I hope we get more of them! I liked Brooke and would be interested to see more of her. All in all a really good read.
