Special Agent Macy Crow is auditioning for the FBI elite profiling team. She was severely injured in a hit and run and is trying to get back on her feet. The bones of a girl who has been missing for fifteen years have been found. With the help of the local sheriff Mike Nevada, can they figure out what happened to Toby? Does Macy have what it takes to be on the FBI elite profiling team? Or is she destined to stay on desk duty? I loved this book. Macy is a strong character. We need more books with a strong female to help young girls, that they achieve anything in life with determination and hard work.
Hide and Seek is a fascinating, fast paced, enjoyable novel! This awesome action thriller about a serial rapist/serial killer kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of this author. I was fortunate to receive this novel from Netgalley as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.
A very enjoyable read! I was very interested in getting my hands on this one after I read the blurb and I am pleased to say that I was not let down.
The story is written very well and the characters are interesting and jump off the page. I would recommend this read!
Just wow 😯 I’ve read Mary Burton and have loved her previous romantic suspense novels. Hide and Seek lived up to expectations 🙌🏻
I adore Macy Crow and her tough act, she’d been through hell and come out swinging. She wasn’t going to let her accident hold her back from the job. When she was called to a little town to follow up on a missing person (suspected murder) she was all business.
Mike Nevada was born and raised in the little town. He had history with Macy and a personal interest in getting the case solved. Former FBI himself he wanted the crimes solved.
Drawn to each other, while hunting for a killer makes for a thrilling read.
I have read books by Mary Burton before and really like her writing style. Hide & Seek is the best one yet. A mystery, murders and throw some romance in and you have a great combination in this book. I loved it.
Special Agent Macy Crow is a survivor. After a vicious hit-and-run nearly kills her, she gets right back to work, and now she’s gunning for a spot on the FBI’s elite profiling team. As an audition, she offers to investigate the recently discovered bones of Tobi Turner, a high school girl who disappeared fifteen years ago.
While investigating with local sheriff Mike Nevada, Macy discovers a link between Tobi’s case and several others that occurred around the same time as her disappearance. As Macy interviews victims and examines old cases, she uncovers a sinister picture of a stalker who graduated to sexual assault—and then murder.
This is one or Mary Burton's best books yet! The character, Macy, is getting her own series and this is the first novel in it. I can't wait to read more about what Macy will be up against next.
Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of #HideAndSeek

‘Hide and Seek’ is the first book in a new series by Mary Burton.
If you want a bit more understanding and background of the the Heroine Macy Crow I suggest you read ‘Cut and Run’, Ms Burton’s previous book, which features Macy Crow and her twin sister Faith.
In ‘Hide and Seek’ Macy Crow is back at work with the FBI after surviving a hit-and-run a few months before. To prove to herself and others she is completely fine and fit to be an agent, she applies for a position on the FBI’s most elite team, the Behavioural Analyst Unit. Given a case involving recently discovered bones of a teenager who disappeared over ten years ago as an audition for the BAU, Macy teams up with the local sheriff to investigate. During the investigation Macy uncovers a startling link between the bones and several cases of sexual assault in the area during the same time period. It’s up to Macy and Sheriff Nevada to solve the cases quickly before the monster strikes again.
I’ve found Mary Burton always provides a good read. And this time was no different. I enjoyed ‘Hide and Seek’. My only issue with this book was reading about the sexual assaults. I can read books filled with graphic murder scenes with no problem, but I did find it a bit hard to read about the sexual assaults in this book.
I really enjoyed this one-- plot, characters, and relationships combine to keep me reading every spare moment. I especially liked the seeing some through the eyes of the last 'victim
Loved it! a definite page turner. Although, I think I might like Macy's twin sister better that Macy:) But, Macy shows a lot of spirit as she tries to keep up with her old self, and come to grips with the changes in her physical appearance and endurance. This is a very scary story, and at times made me realize how vulnerable and weak we are when we are not expecting something to happen. I mean just like that, you can be a victim of an assault or murder. It was creepy to imagine what the characters were experiencing. Enjoyed the re kindled romance with Macy and Nevada. True love people! I love Mary Burton books, and this is great as always.
I am a fan of Mary Burtons work. Over the last year I have read several of her novels and have enjoyed every single one. This was no exception, it drew me in and I battled sleep deprivation to finish it. It starts with the discovery of old bones of a Teenage girl who had been missing for 15 years. Agent Macy Crow is tasked in trying to solve with crime along with Sheriff Nevada, who is local to the town. I enjoyed the back story of Crow and how she ended up in Deep Run. He previous run I with Nevada offered the opportunity for relationship development and the chapters where the killer shows his personal thoughts and feelings added to the pull of the book. I felt this book didn't have the explosive endings I've come to expect from Burton's work but there was still a definite bang with the twists it's offered. Burton's work could so easily be turned into a movie and this would be brilliant on the big screen. I hope future works contain this duo and I will be definitely searching for any previous works containing them too!
Once again Mary Burton wrote a great thriller. Great characters and gripping story. Good amount of twists and turns. Would definitely recommend and will be reading more of her books. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.
Full review to be published online in late April.
HIDE AND SEEK is the first book in Mary Burton's new crime thriller series "Criminal Profiler". As the series title suggests the book is about the profiling of serial killers by the FBI. The reader first met special agent Macy Crow in 'Cut and Run', where she was left recovering from hit and run that left her body broken. After working hard in physical therapy to get her body back into working order she gets a call Jerrod Ramsey who has an opening on his elite FBI profiling team. Her audition for the role is being sent to Deep Run, Virginia after a set bones is found of a girl that went missing 15 years ago and evidence ties her to a serial rapist who active 14 years ago.
Macy reunites to solve the case with former FBI agent Mike Nevada, who is now Sheriff of the small town. The two had a short no strings affair on a previous case but Macy's being commitment phob and intense psychical therapy she knew she would need after the hit and run she dropped all contact.
The serial rapist who graduated to serial killer is also front and center in the story. The author does a great job of keeping his identity a secret right up until the end. Lots of surprising twist throughout the story along with an engaging story from beginning to end. Well written and enaging thriller by Mary Burton.
I enjoyed reading this ARC and I would recommend it. I liked the characters a lot, Macy Crow and Mike Nevada. The story was well written though the plot was quite predictable. I liked the author's attempts to explain the perpetrator's escalation from stalker to rapist to killer, the evidence gathering and the fitting of all the puzzle pieces...
I found a few things annoying: the redundancy of Macy's own story - this was supposed to be the first book in the new series (Criminal Profier). For a first time reader of Mary Burton like me, this thread, leading to a previous series, was not really relevant.
I also found less plausible that a meticulous killer who planned ahead each hit, leaving behind only what he wanted to be found (thus his long career in crime), can act so impulsively and go after an FBI agent in a public place.
But, in the end, everybody gets what they deserve and that's what matters.
I am a pretty big fan of Mary Burton so I was thrilled when Netgalley gave me the opportunity to read this ARC for an honest review.
Mary Burton just knows how to write a good thriller and she did it again with Hide and Seek.. I mean seriously thriller and romance all in one who can pass that up?
There were a few times while reading this book I found myself looking over my shoulder and making sure the windows and doors were locked. Thats how real this book felt to me.. I was lost in all the twists and turns and the pure thrill of the book. I cannot wait for next book in this series. Like can I have it now
Thanks again to Netgalley and montlakeromace and of course to Mary Burton for the advanced copy. This book is due out April of 2019. In the mean time if you haven't read some of her other books while you wait for this one.
I am a fan of Mary Burton books and they are a really enjoyable read. This one is no different. FBI agent Macy Crow is the main protagonist and has been in a previous book but this van be read as a stand alone. It’s a good thriller and the romance story adds to it. Definitely worth a read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake romance for an ARC.

Absolutely one of the best books I have read in a while. Fast paced and as with other books ties back to previous titles.. Mary Burton always makes her characters believable even when they do the impossible.
This was another great book by Mary Burton! Whenever she has a new book I jump on the opportunity to read it . I have read all her books and I have no complaints about any of them. This book was definitely up to her standards of writing the perfect thriller. Macy and Nevada are such great believable main characters and Macy is such a strong female that you can't help but not want to keep following her story. The mystery of finding out who is the serial rapist and murderer keeps you up all night reading . I did figure it out half way thru but it doesn't stop you from wanting to finish and when you do you will be disappointed that the book is over because you can want to keep on reading about Nevada and Macy. . I hope there is more books to come with Macy! Highly recommend reading! So much.suspense & great characters equals the perfect thriller!
A complete and intricate puzzle of devestation and crime along with learning to accept the new you.
Macy Crow wants a spot on an elite team. Navada wants Macy. So why not have Macy come solve years old crimes and spend time with her? Will it work? Will she be able to solve this set of crimes and prove she's back? And will working together again lead to more? You'll have to read to find out.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Excited to read Macy's book. Thanks Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC.
Macy is a fierce and determined FBI agent fighting back after devastating injuries to secure a position on an elite profiling team. Assigned to assist a former lover, Mike Nevada, Macy soon finds herself smack dab in the middle of a 15 year old mystery and possibly a new target. Nevada is hot and feisty- while I wanted these two together something fierce, it was a great murder mystery and suspense thriller that steals the show. Great read.
