Absolutely magnificent .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Hide And Seek thru Netgallery . I'll start by saying WOW ! I was swept right into this story and I couldn't put it down .The storyline is intense and suspenseful ,full of intrigue . I believe this is between a suspense romance and a thriller . It is so pulse pounding I'm sure it elevated my blood pressure . I love the characters FBI former special agent Mike Nevada .now Sheriff and FBI special agentMacy Crow the growing relationship is definitely there but not the focal point of the story . I really like that . This is such a well put together and written story .
I haven't previously read much if any work by Mary Burton but I will definitely be reading more in the near future . This story is Outstanding . I really enjoyed it so much that I read it without stopping . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy !
I really connected with the character of Macy in the previous book, so I was excited to have the opportunity to read her story. Macy is a strong heroine, and I found myself riveted as the story unfolded. As I've found to be the case in other books by Ms. Burton, this romantic suspense novel is heavy on the suspense and light on the romance. I typically like at least equal parts of both, but I find that I'm so mesmerized by Ms. Burton's stories and characters that I don't mind that it leans more toward the suspense aspect. If you like suspense, you'll want to read this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for providing an ARC for review.
HIDE AND SEEK Mary Burton
Rhonda wanted to be a manager at the hair salon, she worked long hours, and didn’t realize she was been stalked. The little annoyances, a tire slashed, trash cans turned over. Dave Sherman hungover, and looking at the red barn a craftsman wanted
Once wood was dismantled; something fell from a particle open shute and worked stopped. Seeing the skull and backpack the sheriff was called. Mike ending fifteen years with the FBI didn’t think it would come down to being a sheriff In Deep Run The body of Todi Turner a junior in high school. Macy Crow was called in from the FBI to Deep Run there was a series of rapes and then rape and killings now a serial killer fifteen years ago,.
The author has given us the lay out of the twists in this plot and how it is solved, fast paced a touch of romance. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Montlake.
Hide and Seek is a standalone and the first book in the Criminal profiler series. If you have read the book Cut and Run by the author, then you already know who Macy Crow is.
Macy Crow is an FBI agent who goes to a place called Deep Run to investigate after a set of bones of a girl -who went missing 15 years ago- is found. In Deep Run, she reunites with a former FBI agent and now Sheriff Mike Nevada. The evidence of the remains of the girl also has ties to a serial rapist who was active 14 years ago. Now, the serial rapist has graduated to a serial killer, and we get a few pages written in his mindset.
I loved the twists and turns in the story as it kept me hooked until the end. There is little romance in Hide and Seek but I would recommend it if you are a Mary Burton fan.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy.
Macy Crow is one of my favorite characters :) She's been through some rough times and comes back fighting.
It's really hard for me to judge if you can jump into this book without reading the previous...I think you can, you'll miss some nuances, but you'll probably be ok.
The story is fairly fast paced, a lot of twists and turns to lead you to the end.
Another Great Crime Thriller
If you are looking for a good crime thriller this book is for you. It was a fast paced page turner from the get go. Mary Burton knows how to keep you guessing and delivers yet again another great book.
Macy Crow and her FBI "friend" Nevada join forces to solve a mystery. What starts as a routine inquiry soon leads to a decades old missing person's case plus a string of unsolved rapes in the tiny town Nevada now calls home as its new Sheriff.
With her usual style and flare, Burton takes us from the mind of FBI profiler Macy to the uneven, distorted mind of the seriel rapist. murderer. When a female deputy is kidnapped, Nevada and Crow try to beat a clicking clock to her demise,
As with all Burton books, i simply adored the chemistry between the protagonists and mystery they unravel. Thanks to Netgalley fro providing me with an arc for an honest opinion of the work.
I have been reading Mary Burton for years and I think this is one of the BEST!! Love the characters ... loved the story. So excited for this new series.
Thank you #netgalley and #montlakeromance for the eARC.
I always enjoy a Mary Burton book and this one was no exception. Macy Crow, an FBI agent, gets sent on an assignment to find a serial rapist. She is hooked up with the hunky sheriff and they have some shared “history” if you know what I mean. A little bit of romance, but it’s not enough to gross you out if you don’t like romance novels. I’m happy to see that this will be a new series by Burton! Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
I have read several books by Mary Burton now and I must say for romantic suspense/thriller you can't get much better. Interesting characters and a good mystery story line with some tie-in to previous books, I would definitely recommend this author. I received e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
Hide and Seek kept me on my toes. I am an avid Mary Burton fan and love that she keeps her characters going from one book to the next. I enjoy picking us a book and diving right in with familiar characters from novels I’ve already read. In Hide and Seek Macy and Nevada team up to catch a killer. In this romantic suspense novel. Thanks to the author, her publisher and NetGalley to the opportunity to read Hide and Seek.
A great enjoyable read kept my attention from start to finish and I’d recommend reading it the author had a way with words that had me hooked can’t wait for more
It's time for Macy Crow's story and I think it's my favorite so far. There are twists to this mystery that have you guessing right up to the author's reveal. The characters are great and the chemistry undeniable. There are also some surprising reveals along the way leading to a very satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend this book!
It was an honor to read hide and seek by Mary Burton. She is one of my favorite authors. This book does not disappoint. I did not want to put it down. All the way up until the end, you are sure it’s one person, then bam Ms Burton, changes it up flawlessly. I met Macy Crow in Ms burtons previous book about her twin sister faith. To see that she survived that horrible hit and run and can still do a damn good job. Plus, meeting up with a previous love and seeing where that goes. Excellent book.
I was so happy when I saw that Macy Crow was getting her own book and the bonus is its also the first book of a new series.
We met FBI agent Macy Crow in Cut and Run where she was left recovering from hit and run that left her body broken. After working hard in physical therapy to get her body back into working order she gets a call Jerrod Ramsey who has an opening on his elite FBI profiling team. Her audition for the role is being sent to Deep Run, Virginia after a set bones is found of a girl that went missing 15 years ago and evidence ties her to a serial rapist who active 14 years ago.
Going to Deep Run reunites her with former FBI agent Mike Nevada who is now Sheriff of the small town. The two had a short no strings affair on a previous case but Macy's being commitment phob and intense psychical therapy she knew she would need after the hit and run she dropped all contact.
The serial rapist who graduated to serial killer is also front and center in the story. The author does a great job of keeping his identity a secret right up until the end. Lots of surprising twist throughout the story along with an engaging story from beginning to end.
This is the first book by Mary Burton that I have read but it will not be the last.
Following a horrific hit and run accident Special Agent Macy Crow is determined to get back to what she does best - catching killers. She is offered a position on the FBI’s elite profiling team and is sent to investigate the disappearance of a young girl whose body has just been found. On arrival she meets an old flame, local sheriff Mike Nevada, who is working in the town.
The story is well written and there is plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. The Characters are great and you can really feel the emotional connection between the two main characters. Well worth a read and don’t worry if you have not read the previous book.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

This is a follow up to Burton's Cut and Run novel. We pick up with Macy and follow her on a case where she reconnects with a retired agent. I always like Burton's suspense stories because they show different aspects of the investigation. There was a small paranormal aspect to this story that I was not expecting. All in all, another great story from Mary Burton- my 17th book of hers!
Hide and Seek, is a great "who did it" thriller. We're given enough to narrow it down, but it's not until the end that it becomes clear. I would definitely reread this book.
I really enjoyed this book. Very good mystery with lot of twists and turns and I really liked the characters. She is one of my favorite authors and one whom I can recommend to my customers and know that they will enjoy the book
