Apologies for the late response on this title, and apologies for clogging up an inbox on old titles.

While I am aware it's obvious, I have chosen not to read/review this title.

As always, I appreciate access to titles and look forward to the next one...which I have likely already read based on how long ago this title was published.

Thanks, again.

Dev & Charity had an entertaining read. This was a new author for me. I got a copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review Colorado Cowboy. Unfortunately, I was never able to get into it and I have no plans to read or review it at this time.

This is book 5 of the series. I had read Book 6 awhile ago and had to finish up the series.
Charity Stone is a Champion barrel racer. She has had a hard life and is independent and doesn't want to mess up her life with a man. Until Dev Jenkins.
Dev is a deputy and has his eye on Charity. He is running for Sheriff because everyone wants him to. He also has some baggage about his past.
Then Charity's sister shows up with her son. Charity hasn't seen them in 10 years since Melody had kicked her out of their lives. Now Charity is keeping her nephew busy and keeping him out of trouble.
Dev is trying to find Melody and making things difficult for Charity to trust him.
These 2 had so much going for them and then throwing in the nephew, Bodie, and letting him know he was important just kept throwing Dev and Charity together.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for letting me review this book.

Dev the sheriff in town has had a thing for Charity Stone for years. She is a champion barrel racer and though she may like him she does not date cowboys. Even after they continue to run into each other she still works at keeping her distance. Now Dev has taken the hint and begins to leave her alone. That is until her sister comes into town and leaves just like a flash. The problem is she left her teenage son with Charity, and he does not want to be with her or in that town. Well, things begin to change between her and Dev especially when her nephew takes off with her truck and ends up crashing into the statue just put in the center of town. Now seeing her at three in the morning is actually better than he thought, and would except for the nephew and the mayor being around. He does come through to help her, and everything gets tangled when the sister comes back in town because all of the good, he has done now may be gone if he has to arrest her. A very good story with good characters.

As a champion barrel racer, Charity Stone has learned to hold her own in the male-dominated rodeo world. There's no cowboy she can't handle...except for one. Officer Dev Jenkins has made it clear he doesn't look at her like one of the guys. He's caught her attention but Charity doesn't do relationships--especially not with a cowboy. When she suddenly finds herself in charge of her thirteen-year-old nephew, who's had a few brushes with the law, Charity has no choice but to ask for the deputy's help.
This was my second try for this author, so I didn’t really have high expectations. However, she delivered. The story was very well written. I really liked both the main characters. This book is definitely emotionally-charged. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend.

I wasn't sure how I was going to like this read about a cop and a barrel racer, but I became invested in their story SO FAST!!! They both had some heavy baggage to unpack together. Though it was bumpy for them, I really enjoyed the ride that was this story. You can easily see that they genuinely care about each other as a person from their first interaction.
The dynamic with the nephew was a nice addition in my opinion. Then again, I like when there is a kid involved to help move the trust between the couple along. It brings out something gentle in the characters that I just really enjoy seeing unfold.

For those who love good Cowboy romances, this publisher is great! As for the book, Sara Richardson is a wonderful writer who delights her audience with books about the ranch and rodeo life that reminds me of being there. I loved Charity and Dev's story and was glad to review it for them. Love!!!

This is the first novel I've read by Sara Richardson, and I had no idea that it was the fifth book in her Rocky Mountain Riders series, but it worked for me as a standalone, and although it was well-written, I had several issues that kept me from really loving it, and it gets a 3-star rating from this reader.

My first issue is with the book title. The story centers around Charity Stone, a champion barrel racer. The hero, Dev, is a deputy sheriff, so I can't quite wrap my head around the reason the title of this novel wasn't Colorado Cowgirl.

My next issue was with Charity. She and her sister, Melanie, had a rough time growing up and being hit on by their mother's frequent boyfriends. Although neither sister was raped, or even anything more than some verbals come-ons and minor touching, yet it scarred Charity so much that she trusts no one and is fiercely independent. Her only real joy is on horseback. Having experienced something similar with a family friend when I was about 13, it didn't scar me for life and it didn't make me avoid all relationships with other people, so I felt that Charity's prickly nature, avoidance of everyone she ever came into contact with, was way over the top. Yes, touching and suggestive remarks are abuse, but far from the worst possible scenario. Of course, their boyfriend-happy mother did nothing to stop it or even acknowledge that it was happening, and Charity's sister Melanie, whose life is very much a carbon copy of her mother's poor child-rearing skills and neglect is following in her footsteps. Charity got out eventually and succeeded at something she loved, so her resisting all attempts at friendship or dating seemed way too extreme a reaction.

When Charity's sister Melanie shows up with her 13-year-old son, Bodie, Charity, who hasn't seen her sister for a decade, is more than shocked when Melanie dumps Bodie at Charity's home and hits the road ASAP. Bodie, whose life experience has been being moved from place to place while also also playing second fiddle to Melanie's messed up life, many loser boyfriends, drug use and bad decision-making, isn't the least bit happy about being dumped by his mom at the home of someone who is virtually a stranger to him. He's understandably surly, upset, and wants to find his mother, and Charity barely knows what to do with him--until he steals her truck one night and crashes it into a $75K statue at the entrance to the town fairgrounds. But when deputy sheriff, Dev Jenkins, shows up at the scene, Charity lies to him, taking the blame for distracted driving herself, even though Dev strongly suspects that it was Bodie who was driving.

Dev has been attracted to Charity for some time, and like Charity and Melanie, he too was abandoned as a young child and adopted by a couple in their forties, who raised him well and in a loving environment, but his biological mother just up and leaving him left its scars on his soul too, so, he feels connected to Charity in that way. Even though Charity is as prickly as a cactus, Dev wants to get on her good side, and helping her with Bodie becomes his way of getting closer to her and helping Bodie, but their hesitant truce is soon marred when Dev learns that there's been a robbery in Oklahoma and that it appears Melanie was an accomplice to that crime, and it's not her first offense.

While I very much liked the serious subject matter of this novel, the lifelong effects of child abandonment even into adulthood, which was handled with deep understanding, I never truly felt connected to any of the characters in this novel, Charity was always ready to tell people, especially Dev, to back off and leave her alone. Dev, on the other hand, kept coming back to her and was almost too good, too kind, and too willing to do anything for Charity and Bodie, to be believable, and the two of them had no chemistry. When they do finally get together, the steamy parts aren't very steamy at all.

Finally, the HEA ending to his novel was way too abrupt, came out of the blue, and, while I don't want to give away the ending, I have to admit that I simply couldn't believe the manner in which it was handled. I'm sorry to say that this novel was more of a miss than a hit with this reader.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

Dev is a great guy. He is a honest and fair officer. Only he is being pushed to do something he doesn’t like. He is running for a spot that he would be good at but not one he would enjoy. Part of his journey is to learn this and do what he needs to for him and not what others would like for him. Overall I love him. He is kind, patient, sweet, considerate and gorgeous. He doesn’t treat Charity like one of the guys but as an equal and someone that he is attracted to. He sees her as a woman and someone he respects and wants to know better. He wants to be more than just a friend to her but has to do this slowly because she is stubborn and wants no one in her life due to her past.

Charity is stubborn, hard working and kind. She has worked hard to get where she is and has earned the respect she gets. ONly problem is that now she isn’t seen as a woman perse but as one of the guys. She is okay with this until Dev. He is respectful, supportive and attractive. She likes him as more and doesn’t want to. While trying to deal with this, her world is turned upside down by her nephew landing on her doorstep. This is due to her sister. A sister who walked away from her when her nephew was a baby. Charity loves her nephew but doesn’ know what to do. He is angry and lashing out. Dev sees this and helps. Charity doesn’t know how to deal with this from Dev either.

Slowly we see Charity and her nephew find their way but also Dev and Charity as well. We see where Dev trusts Charity’s nephew and doesn’t jump to conclusions like others do when some situations occur. We see where his patience pays off and Charity begins to act on her feelings. When they do it is explosive and amazing. These two heat up te kindle and have you smile. I love how Dev respects and supports Charity and how charity realizes that Dev doesn’t want to change her but be by her side and an equal. He wants a partner not someone to control.

The story is sweet and a journey for the characters. Charity to see that she can have love and not have it be like her past. She learns to accept her faults and work through her past. She gains perspective and finds a middle ground with her family. She stands up for herself and her nephew and shows him that someone is there for him no matter what. She finds love that doesn’t suffocate her but has her grow and where she has a partner who is supportive, honest, kind and respects her. Who listens to her and is there no matter what.

Dev finds his way to where he is meant to be-with Charity but also he stands up for himself and what he wants to do. And what he doesn’t want and gains a voice in this. We see his love help Charity find her way but also help him gain a voice.

The romance is sexy and sweet. I love how he does all he can to help Charity even when he knows it may hurt her. He does what he thinks is the right thing. Sometimes it does cost him but he doesn’t waver. Charity realizes it but it takes her awhile to see and let go. When she does it helps them become closer and grow. A wonderful story on love, family and friendship.

I fell in love again. I am just going to straight up and tell you that this was a 5 star read for me. I loved Charity, Dev, the plot, and, most importantly, the romance. The bigger picture was very endearing and I genuinely enjoyed seeing the characters develop from point A to Point Z. This story was very refreshing and it sort of flipped the role of the emotionally unavailable cowboy into the emotionally unavailable cowgirl. Charity was a barrel racer, I think. I am not sure exactly what it is called, but I know that she rides horses and she travels with bull riders. Dev was the sheriff deputy of Topaz Falls and he had his eye on a certain fast tempered blonde. After Charity's sister leaves a rebellious thirteen year old teenager on her doorstep, Charity is in need of some help to steer this abandoned boy on the right path and who better than the town's golden boy, Dev.

This story centers around Charity learning to love and trust again because she had a rough childhood and it was awesome witnessing Charity confront her demons. Dev also have some abandonment issues and he takes Charity's nephew under his wing. I truly enjoyed the relationship that Dev and Charity's nephew developed and the story was so authentic and touching. I enjoyed every aspect of this story and the chemistry and intensity was there. I also enjoyed seeing the couples from the previous stories.

My eyes gobbled this story up in two days, no lie. This story made me laugh and almost made me cry during a very intense scene involving Dev and Charity's sister. The story was well-written and the pacing was spot on. The romance was realistic, raw, and it makes your toes curl. What a wild ride. Wheww!! It has been a while since I have read a book that has given me the tingles and this one most definitely gave tingles. What a great relatable story with a kick ass heroine.
So grab your tea and drink up because this is "under the blanket" kind of read.

This book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone book. The characters of Dev, Charity and Bodie took me on a roller coaster as we see how these characters react to situations that are out of their comfort zones! I really enjoyed this story! I will be buying more books by Sara Richardson as I was impressed with her talent! A great weekend read!

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open, honest review!

I really liked this romance. They really got to KNOW each other, and I liked how they worked through their issues and the supporting cast was very good. The pacing was good, and while their were some personal walls needing to come down, I never felt that the conflicts were OTT reactions. Overall, an enjoyable story that kept me reading well past my bedtime. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Charity and Dev danced around each other for quite some time until they finally let each other in. Charity has family issues and winds up with custody of her nephew and needs help, and Dev is more than happy to step in. This was a sweet western romance!

This is a wonderful romance with so much grit and substance. I loved the characters, and the dilemmas involved were interesting from the perspective of coming from a rough childhood and not wanting to let anyone in. Zero trust. Overcoming this handicap is the major theme of this story for multiple characters, and it is very well written. Colorado Cowboy is an emotional rollercoaster and I loved it!

I read the previous book in this series by Sara Richardson and enjoyed it very much. This one was even better! If you haven't read any of the previous books, this totally stands alone. I predict that like me you will plan to go back and read all of them. This book was that entertaining! Besides a slow-burning romance, there was family drama, a bit of crime and a town full of charm and good friends.

Charity is a champion barrel racer with a bit of a temper. She is estranged from her family and is haunted by past issues with them. Dev is a local deputy who is very attracted to her and steps in to save her at a bar. She didn't actually need protection; he saved her from an assault and battery charge because she was about to tear up a man who made a move on a young girl. One day Charity's sister shows up with her 13 year old son; she hadn't seem them in 10 years. The next day it appears her sister took off, and Charity is left with a sullen teenager. At a loss, she asks Dev to help her find her sister.

Though I loved the romance between Charity and Dev, it was the family drama that totally drew me in. Dev, like Charity, had family issues as a child. He was adopted by a wonderful couple, but still dealt with wondering if he was good enough. Charity's dysfunctional family issues still affect her as an adult. Her nephew Brodie, her sister and mother were not likeable at all as they made their appearances in the story. By the end of the book, I absolutely loved them all. I bawled my eyes out. I can't wait to read more from this talented author.

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

4 star

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Hometown Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #1)
Comeback Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders #2)
Renegade Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders, #3)
True-Blue Cowboy (Rocky Mountain Riders, #4)

This is Charity and Dev’s story. Charity is used to being in a male dominated world. She is a champion barrel racer, so she is used to cowboys. She does not do relationships. But one cowboy is determined to get her to try and he is just the one to change her mind. She can resist him, right? What happens when she needs his help? Can she get his help but also keep her distance? When her nephew starts really messing with the town, he is going to have to take action is she going to push him away for doing his job? Or finally allow someone to help?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Cowgirl and a deputy fell in love with this family drama love story. Charity is suddenly responsible for her nephew after her sister bails on her. She hasn't seen him in years and doesn't know what to do with a teenager. Hopefully, for her, the town deputy Dev offers help with the boy and finding her sister. There are also sparkle and strong chemistry between two of them and their connection increase and is broken when Charity sister comes back. Intense story, full of family drama and uncertainty. Both characters are well developed and likable. I really liked Dev he was a strong character, a person always willing to help. Charity had a hard past behind her and is hard for her to open to another person and to trust it. In the end, we see that mature decision is made and they have their HE.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Charity if a barrel racer and shes more then surprised to see her sister at her door after her sister making it clear she didn't want her in her and her sons life. On top of that she up and disappears and leaved her nephew in her care. Worried about her sister she asked Deputy Dev to track her sister down.

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting getting to know Charity and her sisters backstory. It really set the tone of who her sister is, and why things happens the way things went down. Her nephew was troubled and seems to be going through what she went though as a child. I thought it was interesting also to see the Dev's point of view of how things were going down. He when he was getting leads on Charity's sister he had to make some tough choices and he was already going through stress and this was a the last thing that he needed. Especially since he's started to care for Charity it would make the relationship they have even more complicated when he reveals what he knows and it could impact things and make it all the troublesome. Another things I enjoyed was the heated exchanges between the two. It was clear they cared for eachother and you can't help but root for the best and hope things turn out well for them. Overall this was a pretty great book I really enjoyed it.
