Rock Rebel by Tara Leigh is a rock star contemporary romance. But it's NOT just another rock star romance. Let me start by saying, I'm old. Rock star romances aren't the first thing I grab to read. This book is also written in first person, alternating point of view format, my least favorite. That being said, I have to be honest, Ms. Leigh makes it work. Rock Rebel is a well-written book with an outstanding cast of characters. Dax is a star rocker. Verity is a child star done wrong has been, looking for a music career comeback. Dax and Verity's story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle and the angst is kept at a level that adds to the story instead of overdosing readers so they want to gag. I enjoyed reading Rock Rebel and would happily read more from Tara Leigh in the future. Rock Rebel is book 2 in the Nothing But Trouble Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers story. The heroine did not know her father and her mother is selfish and self-serving to the point of putting Verity in some horrible situations. I think many women can empathize with Verity. Verity lived her life with little to no love or support. The hero is the bad boy rockstar. However, we discover that Dax has his own issues with (don’t we all?) and a past relationship that was bad.

Dax has a preconceived idea of Verity, which he realizes is incorrect. Verity is treated poorly, but still looks for the best in others and opens her heart to Dax. I really liked this book.

I loved this book. The story was very compelling and the relationship between these two damaged souls was great. I immediately went out and bought the two books preceding this one in the series I just reviewed Rock Rebel by Tara Leigh. #NetGalley

Dax Hughes -- classical music prodigy/Rock royalty
Verity Moore -- disgraced pop princess, looking for a way to make a comeback

Dax left his family and their classical music group to chasing love. When that didn’t pan out, he wound up in a bar listening to a rock band and discovered Shane, Landon and Jett. They formed Nothing But Trouble and set out to conquer the world. Verity was pushed into the spotlight by her stage-mother. Most of Verity’s experiences were abusive. She escapes the people controlling her and sets out to create a career for herself. Dax can see that Verity has been abused even though she never tells him about her experiences. Dax anonymously writes her the perfect song and they manage to record it together. The couple works through his distrust of all women (after being jilted) and her determination to take charge of her life and career. Dax manages to reunite with his family and inadvertently rescue his younger sister from a potentially abusive relationship. I picture Dax and Verity making beautiful music together.

I loved the way Verity bonded with Delaney and Piper from Books 1 & 2. In addition to romance, girls need their BFFs. There was one issue in the Epilogue where I was confused as to someone getting a plea deal or a prison sentence, maybe because this read was an ARC provided by NetGalley for review. I look forward to what I believe will be Quinn and Jett’s story.

Props to a hero who is able to hunt down the grandparents champagne flutes that were sold at an estate sale over 10 years ago. That act was enough to make Dax one of my favorite heroes.

“Verity, how can you be nothing when you’re everything to me?” author Dax Hughes

I should give something very big and good for my friend, who recomend me Tara Leigh. I never have thought that this author will take me on such amazing  journey. Readers all kinds !!! DON'T BE FOOL, LIKE I WAS !!! Meet Tara and her books immediately ! I'm really angry for myself, because I could have her earlier in my bookish life.

Rock Rebel have  huge emotional baggage.... be warned ! Why I'm saying like that ? Because... I wasn't ready for this... I wasn't ready to meet this beautifull broken lifes... I wasn't ready for this kind of love story...

Everything in Rock Rebel is wonderfull... but also could make cry hard.

This book ruined my soul...

This book ruined my heart....

THIS BOOK made me also feel so angry, for bad people who could steal Your soul...Your heart.... Your pride.

I try not to use author's quotes in my reviwes... but sometimes they are too much unforgetable... This time I still remember how broken Verity was.... afrer reading her own words, that she's like:

"Someone who didn’t know what to say without a script in her hand. Someone who didn’t know what to wear unless it came from wardrobe. Someone who was less a person than a Hollywood creation."

I felt devastated but...In that moment I KNEW ! Verity... this beautifull, lonley girl will stay forever  in my heart. I wanted just hold her tight.... and never let go. She and Dax find each other obviously, and that's the best part of their, not easy story. They both want to be loved.... in right way, without any doubt or bad choices. That's why their history can't be like every other ones... they need to start love themselfs in the first place, because without that, they can't fall deeply for each other. Dax is one of my favorite rock stars...He made this book special, because he have golden heart. He gave everything for Verity, when she doesn't want to believe that she's.... worth everything.

I read Rock Rebel couple days ago but I still can't forget this book.... I still hear  whispering : "You aren’t alone".

People... don't think too much, just be ready to grab Your copy when Rock Rebel will "go live".

4 1/2 Stars!

Dax is in the Nothing but Trouble rock band even though 6 years ago he was a classical musician. But he had followed his love (Amelia) to LA and even though they broke up, he stayed and became a rock musician. Verity is a disgraced pop princess. 3 years ago her TV series ended in disaster and she's been running wild ever since. But now she wants to follow "her" dream to become a singer and can't believe her luck when she is scheduled to be the opening act for a Nothing but Trouble tour. When Verity and Dax meet, they have an instant connection ... but will they act on it? Can 2 broken souls survive and become 1?

I just loved Dax and Verity! Dax is just this serious guy that keeps to himself while Verity is just trying to get her life back on track. My heart just broke for them! Verity's mom just made me so mad ... I wanted to slap her and say "she's your daughter, you're supposed to love her unconditionally". But isn't that the sign of a good book ... when you want to throw it across the room? It was kinda interesting that this book was actually taking place in the same time frame as Rock Legend and that we got a better glimpse into Piper's life. Even though we don't know that much about Jett, I wonder if he will get his own book.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

Author Tara Leigh delivers a hot, sexy, rock romance that will keep you up all night reading because you won’t want to put the book down!
The heroine, Verity Moore, is a child star whose monster mother is her manager. Living vicariously through her daughter, Janet Moore sacrificed Verity’s childhood and innocence to make sure she became famous because she never made it Hollywood herself.
Verity comes off as vulnerable, yet strong, and her character is well written.
Dax Hughes is the hero. He’s a famous rock star in the band, Nothing But Trouble.
Dax has issues of his own but when his path crosses with Verity’s she moves to the front of the line as far as his troubles go.
Eventually, after the angst of getting past lies and miscommunications Dax and Verity eventually work things out and they finally give into their insane attraction to each other!
Ms. Leigh is a wonderful storyteller, develops her characters beautifully, and makes you feel as if you’re a part of the story.
This book does deal with some sensitive and timely issues but I felt she handled her delivery of the sensitive issues well.
This book is a stand-alone book with a HEA! I highly recommend it.
I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley and in return I voluntarily gave my honest review.

What a great addition to this series. The connection with real life events currently happening help put a different view point of the media stories. I truly enjoyed the book and recommend it to others.

This book was so much more than a romance. It was about speaking up and giving a voice to issues that should never be buried. This may be a trigger for some who have connections to the #metoo movement.

Verity...she was perfect in this book. She had gone through so much growing up, and she kept on pushing. She never gave up, and she was open and honest about events from the beginning.

Dax was broken in his own right. He knew first hand what fame could cost you, and wasn’t looking forward to following the same path he had ventured down before.

These two were magnetic from the start. They both pushed each other to be better, and opened each other’s eyes to different experiences. The love they had for one another was unmistakable.

This story was amazing!! I cannot get over the overall message and pure brilliance of this book. Tara did a fantastic job of writing about these tough topics.

What happens when the paths of bad boy Rockstar Dax and disgraced Pop princess Verity collìde? They're not supposed to feel this intense attraction brewing between them. Both are hiding skeletons in the closet and don't want o stop running. They don't know their stories are intertwined by fate itself. So fire burns. Lightning strikes. Secrets come out. And we get a story full of drama, emotions, passion and ultimately celebration of life.
Tara Leigh is a genious when it comes to plotting an insane story line and amazing characters. We have the handsome devil rockstar & Classical music genius who have never recovered from the harsh lessons of his pre-Band life. But Verity is threatening to bring all his walls down and make him feel everything he doesn't want to feel. And Verity is an incredible woman. Life has dealt her a shitty hand. She has so many labels. The demons lurking in the darkness behind the camera flashes and glamour of Hollywood have hurt her so badly. Yet she is an epitome of inner strength , beauty and extraordinary talent. This couple is truly a memorable one.
Tara Leigh carefully and expertly build the story bit by bit. She never rushed it. I was enthralled. I enjoyed and savoured every bitter truth, every sweet swoony moment and every scorching hot sex scenes to the fullest. The sexual interactions were not only physical acts. They were exchanging their souls. The scenes are not there just for making it erotic. They are very much part of the experience. Undoubtedly some of the best sex scenes I have ever read.
Rock Rebel is absolutely breathtaking and pure magic. This is beyond rock stars and pop princess. This was truly inspiring resurrection story of two shattered souls.

Gah!! Rock Rebel was another amazing book by Tara Leigh that I could could not get enough of! Verity and Dax were so sexy and intense. I loved the push and pull and emotional connection between them. Their feelings and attraction for one another were on another level and it was so addicting to see.

While this is the third book in the Nothing but Trouble series, Rock Rebel is a complete standalone that can be independently enjoyed. When Verity Moore, disgraced movie star and pop princess and rockstar, Dax Hughes see each other for the first time, there is an attraction and intensity in their interaction that can be felt off the pages. Leigh did an outstanding job portraying an amazing lovestory with current real life #metoo elements that gave this story a vivid modern feel. This was fantastic and such an amazing addition to the series.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Forever Romance for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

BIANCA

Eeep! I'm the biggest rockstar romance fan ever!

And this one was just as adorable & heartbreaking as the first ones.

Book #3 takes place around the same time the last book did. Piper and Landon are not yet at their happily ever after either.

But we concentrate on Dax and Verity of course! ☺

They have this meet cute in an elevator - where she recognizes him, but he doesn't know who she is. Adorable.

With Travis as her new manager they'll see each other all the time. Especially now that a song written by Dax will be Verity's first single! Plus she'll go on tour with the band!

The more they see of each other the more they fall in love - but there are so many secrets and pains in their pasts. It won't be easy to get to that happy end!

But we enjoy reading about every single moment!

But grrr... I made the mistake of reading an AL Jackson book before I started this one. I love her stories, but AL Jackson's writing style is just not my thing. And I see so many of the same things in Tara's style. Especially after I saw that she thanks AL Jackson in the acknowledgements. The way too poetic writing. The way too many redundant lines of text. Beautifully describing too many unnecessary things. Sometimes I just want to fast forward to when someone talks again. It's nowhere near as bad as AL Jackson't writing, but I see similarities! Most readers will love it - but I just don't have time to read too much poetic stuff. I want things happening. Action.

BUT ... I really adored Dax and his story!!!!☺

ROCK REBEL was a really adorable & heartbreaking #MeToo Hollywood & Rock Star Romance! Hurry to your nearest amazon - Dax will be sold out in no time!!!

JANEANE
Tara Leigh, you had me at rock star!

This book may contain triggers for some readers. The #MeToo movement is featured quite heavily in this story.

I have fallen for each and every one of the both boys from Nothing But Trouble, however as much as I adored Dax in Rock Rebel, our leading lady Verity is the one that captured my heart this time.

This story quickly became my favourite of the series... so far

Dax and NBT are at the peak of their careers, Verity is on the come back trail. So completely different, yet so right for each other.

The Rock God and the Pop Princess could be just what they are each looking for.

I love the banter and the snark between our lovelies - neither of them is ready for more than a FWB arrangements, however their hearts want what their hearts want, and they will fight it tooth and nail until they can't fight anymore.

My heart hurt for Verity so much. Those who are supposed to love her and want the best for her just don't. I wanted to throat punch a few characters so, so much.

Beautifully written, the story flowed and I found myself not wanting this story to end.

Now I neeeeeeeed Jett's story in my life.

I really loved Dax and Verity!

This was one hell of a mother-flowering book!!!! It was more than just amazing- It gets all the stars!!!!!! I thought Rock Legend was my favorite but now I think this one takes the cake. It was so powerful and so relevant. The Me Too movement has been a force to be reckoned with and I love that this book took that into account. Reading it really hit a cord with me as it should with every person. I couldn’t stop reading it and was annoyed I had things to do in my life and couldn’t constantly read.

I connected to Verity on so many levels. She just wants to be loved and cared for based on who she is. But she had to learn to love and believe in herself, which is something so many people need to do. Watching her take charge of her life was almost magical and empowering.

Dax was the type of guy you just can’t help but love. He is a talented, sexy, amazing character. Dax and Verity bring out the best in each other in such a simple and humble way. Their love is so endearing!!!

And, the TWIST!!! The twist just- ugh!!!! Leigh got me, she soooo got me! I will say no more…

The one thing that really stuck out for me was the fact that I could picture countless singers and actors that could be Verity. Kesha was the main person I imagined while reading Verity’s story and it just struck home how the draw of fame and fortune can be so detrimental. That the dream of being a singer or dancer or actor can come with a price it never should come with- how power can corrupt some and victimize others. It’s a terrify thought that millions upon millions of people live with every day. I’m so grateful for the fact that Leigh sheds light on the issue and takes a stand against the abusers.

Rock Rebel is a beautiful, heartbreaking, and completely wonderful story that will hold a special place in my heart for years to come! I’m so impressed by this book and overwhelmed with the emotion it brought out in me. Enough said!

I wanted to read this book because the premise sounded good. I like the trope "bad girl gets her happy ending" which for me "bad girl" means a woman that has been judged by the society because she doesn't do what's expected of her.

I liked Verity, I think she was a good heroine, She was sometimes insecure and it was easy to relate to her. She was independent, she had dreams, she wanted to be heard. She has been abused but she is trying to overcome it, she's a strong woman. She was a great woman, what I could not understand was why would she fall in love with Dax, she was too good for him, I think she deserved better. I mean, he was not THAT bad, but I did not like him. His reason for not being with her were so lame for me, yeah, he had a bad break up but c'mon man, stop feeling sorry for yourself and start acting like a nice human being.

I really liked it Verity and I wanted her to be happy but I didn't like them as a couple, Dax kind of ruined things for me.

Not my cup of tea, I prefer beta heroes

5 TRUE STARS

Tara Leigh freaking rocked the newest release in the Nothing But Trouble rocker series! Rock Rebel is book three but can absolutely be read as standalone.

Get ready for a disgraced pop princess, a controlling momager, a sleazy producer and a prince in tarnished armor. This book had more twists and turns than a roller coaster and I loved every minute of it!

Verity Moore is a disgraced pop princess who’s fall from grace as a beloved TV star had her spiraling out of control. Taking back her control, Verity turns to Travis Tagert, manager of none other than the popular rock band Nothing But Trouble, in hopes of becoming the singer she always dreamed of being. She’s had a troubled past and is ready to put it behind her and start living her life on her own terms.

From New York City's hottest classical music prodigy to rock royalty. Dax Hughes left his family and Julliard behind to chase a girl that was his everything, or so he thought.

Opportunity knocks and Dax heeded the call. Now he is the lead guitarist for the popular rock band Nothing But Trouble. He’s the quiet one in the group often being called Monk because of he is forever turning woman away. Until he meets Verity Moore.

I loved Dax and Verity’s story! These two were like magnets when they were in the same room. Always gravitating towards one another. They both had secrets that could destroy them. There were parts I just wanted to shake some sense into both of them. And other parts that had me reaching for the box of Kleenex.

The twists in this book had me gasping out for more. More love, more passion and more truth.
Destiny brought these two broken souls together. Both are hiding truths that need to be spoken. Can their love for one another be what makes them whole again? Or will trusts be so broken that they’re irreparable?

Great read, and very socially relevant. I gotta be honest, I was a little nervous about the use of #metoo, only because the use of hot topics often feels forced or preachy. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked within the story and for the characters. Dax and Verity were great, and this may be my,favorite of the series so far.

Rock Rebel may be the best in the Nothing But Trouble series yet and definitely my favorite so far. This rock romance is more than just bad boy rocker meets his match. It touches on a topic that’s made the headlines far too often and handles it well.

Verity Moore isn’t just a disgraced pop princess. She is a strong, independent woman determined to take back her life and control of her career.

Dax Hughes left Manhattan behind to chase a love that promptly left him with a broken heart. Now he’s a formidable guitarist and part of one of the biggest bands in the world now. Silent and extremely talented and classically trained, he’s a good guy in a world not known for them.

Their attraction is a string pulled tight - right or wrong, risky or safe, a little fun or a love of a lifetime? But trust and truth are huge issues and to get to that trust they must have truth. Both characters are well developed and I appreciated the fact that unnecessary drama wasn’t created from failure to communicate.

Again, we get a little glimpse of the rest of the gang which is always a bonus. And, hopefully, we’ll get Jett’s story or maybe even Travis’s story next.

Hot damn, Tara Leigh strikes again – and boy, what a strike it is.

Tara Leigh worked her way into my favourite authors list at an insane pace, and every time there is news of new Tara Leigh words I find myself doing an insane little jiggle with added squeals to complete the image. Although I have enjoyed all her releases to date, it is safe to say the Nothing But Trouble series is my favourite. I have a weakness for rock star romances and powerful storylines, which is exactly what this series delivers.

Rock King was a powerful four-star rating, guaranteeing I’d devour the future books. Rock Legend was insanely close to receiving a five-star rating, would have been if I was anyone else. Rock Rebel is another powerful four-star rating, and I could easily imagine myself handing out a five-star rating if I was as generous with my five-star ratings as everyone else. In fact, I fear the Nothing But Trouble series is suffering from a similar approach as to how I approached some of Reily Garrett’s McAllister Justice series – I’m holding back on possible five-star ratings in the later books because I was silly enough not to give my favourite in the series the five-star rating it deserved. In that way, I’m a terrible reviewer.

What is not terrible, is this book. This book is amazing, powerful like the two prior books in the series.

Each book has been a powerful read, but each has been powerful in a completely different manner. With Rock Rebel, we have power through addressing a very real topic in the world. I’m not saying the two prior books were not real topics – the way I connected with Rock Legend contests to that – but this one is real in the sense it is very relevant. It takes something bad, something we wish was not happening, and it turns it into a story of gaining power. I can only hope this book reaches out to those touched by the issue and that they find strength from the story. I’m not going to go into details, but the topic is dealt with extremely well, and the story hooks you throughout.

Although Rock Rebel works perfectly fine as a standalone novel, it does work best if you have read the two prior books in the series. This story takes place alongside Rock Legend, and you understand references better if you have read it. If you haven’t, I would certainly recommend doing so. As I’ve said, this is a wonderful series – and Rock Legend is my favourite Tara Leigh release to date.

As with each Tara Leigh book, the story is wonderfully written. Tara Leigh has a way with words that ensures you’re sucked in quick, pulled deep into the story and left turning the pages at a rapid pace. You fall in love with the characters, you find yourself addicted to the storyline, and you find yourself lost to the emotions being thrown your way. There is plenty to enjoy – the good and the bad in the world, along with everything in between – making it a very real read that hits you on multiple levels.

Not to mention, the chemistry between the two characters is great. I loved them both as individuals, and their story as a couple was wonderful. There were countless times where I’d find myself wearing a stupid love-struck smile, despite the fact I spent an evening alone reading this with no one around to put such a look on my face – no, it was all down to the interaction of the characters, the way I fell in love with them both and could not suck myself away for a single moment.

I was both fearful and excited before entering Rock Rebel, knowing it was the last in the series, but, in the end, it was more than worth it. I do wish we were getting a fourth book – I’m extremely curious about Jett and Quinn – but I know how contracts and such work. It’s a shame, though, as what we saw of them in this book made me super eager to find out more. I’d even take a bonus short story, such is my love for the band.

Still, Rock Rebel was as wonderful as I’d hoped. There is no doubt in my mind that it was a fabulous third book, keeping in line with the two powerful prior reads. Now I’m finished, I’m going to fall in a Tara Leigh coma, only to be awakened when her next release is out. Rock star romances are some of my favourites, but what is promised next is equally loved – a dark romance.

I cannot wait to see how Tara Leigh’s dark romance plays out, because if it’s anywhere near as wonderful as Rock Rebel I’m guaranteed to love it.
