Hearts in Harmony – Beth Wiseman
Amish boy, Levi, meets Amish girl, Mary when they are children at the funeral of a mutual English family friend. Since they are from different districts and lived several miles away, they don’t see each other again until 10 years later, when they meet again at the estate auction of the Englishman’s elderly wife, Adeline, who has fallen on hard financial times.
Unknown to Levi and Mary, seeing the state of Adeline’s home and yard, their parents encouraged each of them to go to Adeline’s home and try to get it back into a livable condition. Upon their arrival, Levi and Mary realize they had met as children and their friendship grows. They each have family issues they face, along with differences in the beliefs of their Amish district. A distant relative of Adeline’s late husband also appears on the scene and many things happen that forge friendships among the four.
This is a new series by Beth Wiseman. It was a very enjoyable read and left me looking forward to the next book in the series. I’m anxious to see which character she centers on and how their life develops. I highly recommend this book.

Levi, Mary, and Natalie all begin helping an old friend of their families, Adeline. Together the 4 forge a sweet friendship (and one romance) as they work through the love of music, a disreputable puzzle, and an empty house that needs work.
I loved reading this story. It was a sweet reminder of what life can be like when friendships are made and people are cared for. I love the way that the 3 of them has their own family problems, but they still draw together to improve life for their friend.
I finished Hearts in Harmony with tears in my eyes. I loved the three young characters and enjoyed watching them create a family woth Adeline. This book was unique because it emphasized the Amish and Englisch working and living together. I liked these characters and would enjoy reading more about their lives in another book,

A story of four people who find healing and love in the summer never to be seen again. A story of finding new friendships and reliving past that have been long forgotten and facing challenges that we all in some way shape or form find ourselves in. Hearts in Harmony is the story of renewed faith and trying to understand the world around us. A great read on a cozy weekend that will bring a smile to your face and a tear on your face.
This is such a wonderful book and great start to a new series. It is written in such a way that you you feel like you are there and feel every emotion that the people in the book go through. There is no cliffhanger, but I can't wait to read the next book. If you are looking for a good, clean book that will hold your attention from the first page till the last, grab this book!! I highly recommend this book. Thank you Zondervan Fiction via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion of this wonderful book.
Mary met Levi when they were both ten years old at the funeral of an Englisher (non-Amish) friend of their family’s. Mary needed to use the bathroom and she heard Levi playing the piano and he asked her not to tattle on him.
(The Amish do not encourage the singing of non - church related songs or playing any type of musical instrument.)
The two meet again 8 years later when Adeline, the widow of the deceased man, has an estate sale to make some extra income to pay her bills with.
Levi’s mother, Helen, asked her son if he would be willing to volunteer fixing up Adeline’s house and yard because it needed some repairs. Mary had noticed that Adeline’s house needed cleaning and that she might enjoy having someone help her clean it and also take her out for buggy rides to do errands and enjoy the scenery. The two young adults meet the following Saturday when they come over to help Adeline. Levi thought he might get to play the piano again, he meets Mary instead, and the two enjoy each other’s company and they both like Adeline.
But there are secrets in Mary and Adeline’s families that come out in the open, and Adeline, Mary and Levi become as close as a family.
You will enjoy the budding romance, Levi’s and Mary’s musical talent and life choices, and their loving care of Adeline.
I'd never really given a thought to the role of music in the Amish community, and it was surprising to see that it's not allowed. This story had several twists and turns, and ended up in a completely different place than I thought it would, but it was an amazing story of faith, resilience, and family - both the kind we are born into and the kind we make. I look forward to reading the next book in this series to see where all three of the couples mentioned in this book head....not sure who will come up next. I'm also curious to see how music plays a role in the other two, after seeing how it was woven into this story. Well done!
