A fascinating trip through the battles of amnesia. A devastating car crash takes everything from Chloe, including her memories. As the past returns to her in tantalizing glimpses she doesn’t know who to trust or turn to. Brilliant read!

Chloe suffered a terrible accident and she cannot remember anything. While recuperating at home, she begins to remember bit and pieces of her former life. This was a really good book with lots of twists, turns and surprises. It was very well written and I liked this author's writing style. This is a real page turner that caught my attention from the first few pages. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this fantastic book in exchange for an honest review.

Between the Lies is a good solid story , albeit predictable at times . There are a few twists but I was able go figure out the ending . I did really enjoy the characters and overall a good story .

I found Between the Lies to be a fast-paced and compelling read. It is intense right from the very beginning. You know there has to be a 'baddie' in this story and I suspected everyone, including Chloe herself!

When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it and to me, that is a sign of a good one. I did eventually guess the baddie prior to the reveal but it was still a hecka' ton of fun. Additionally, there was a twist I wasn't expecting that left me on the final page with a sinister smile on my face.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and felt it to be a solid, absorbing psychological thriller. Thank you so much to the publisher, St. Martin's Press, for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review. As always, I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to reading more by Michelle Adams in the future.

Chloe wakes up in the hospital with no memories of how she got there or even of who she is. She stays with her parents during her recovery but the lack of details that they give her and the fact that she seems to be locked on the property are rather disconcerting. She has the growing suspicion that something isn't right and that everyone is lying to her. She slowly unravels the truth behind her accident and discovers what brought her to this point in her life.

In the beginning, this book was rather slow moving and I had difficulty maintaining my interest in the story. However, slowly but surely the story picked up it's pace and led to a rather interesting conclusion. I'm glad I stuck with the story because, overall, it's a worthwhile read.

When Chloe Daniels wakes up in the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, you would think that recovering physically is going to be her biggest challenge. But it isn't the case since Chloe cannot remember how she got to this place. In fact, this isn't short term memory loss related to the night of her accident, she, in fact, does not remember anything about her life, her friends, or her family. Her father, mother, and sister are there for her, but honestly, she doesn't know these people and she surely doesn't trust them.
When it is time to go home, she doesn't know where her home is and must rely on her family to fill in the blanks and help her heal. But something isn't right, as Chloe is a virtual prisoner in her childhood home and the things that they tell her are the truth, don't seem to feel right at all. As her memory starts to come back, the awful truth about the night of the accident comes to Chloe in bits and pieces and it is up to her to her to read between the lies to uncover the truth.
I loved My Sister and Between the Lies gripped me as well. Full disclosure, I was in a horrifying accident, and couldn't remember anything leading up to it until I woke up in ICU. It was scary stuff not knowing how I wound up in the hospital, and personally, I could not imagine total amnesia. The author kept revealing a little bit at a time, and I thought the pacing and suspense, kept me wanting more. I liked how it ended and I thought the characters were believable. Sign me up for Michelle Adams next book!

I've been in a reading rut lately and was feeling so unexcited about starting something new. I received an email from St. Martin’s Press offering me a chance to read an Advanced Reader Copy of Michelle Adams' new book Between the Lies, and once I read the description, I knew I had to give it a chance. I am SO glad that I did. The book had my attention from the second I started reading and kept me guessing the entire time. I would come up with one theory only to be convinced of something different over and over again. I found myself very attached to Chloe and feeling so strongly towards her father which was quite unusual for me. I don't typically find myself so emotionally invested with characters. I enjoyed Between the Lies so much and I'm very excited to see that Adams has another book out. I can't wait to read that one too!

Wow what a crazy book. Poor Chloe throughout this whole thing! So many lies being told to her to sift through. As the lies start to unravel, it just keeps getting crazier. My favorite part of this book was the unknown second narrator that I just COULDN'T figure out who it was!

Chloe Daniels wakes up in the hospital having been in an accident but can't
remember what exactly happens. She has her family who is looking out for her and have her best interest to get better and help her remember what happened...or are they?
This story was a crazy thriller and it really kept you guessing with each chapter what exactly happened and who could of been involved. Each character is questionabe and the suspense does build up. The ending should of given a little more detail of Chloe's family and it's aftermath

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exhange for my review.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the invitation to read and review this novel via NetGalley.

This is the first novel I've read by Michelle Adams and it has an interesting concept. Chloe is the protagonist suffering from amnesia due to an automobile accident. She is recovering at her parents' home and slowly discovers they have been lying to her about everything involving the accident and her recovery. As she tries to find out what's true and what isn't, there are some twists and turns. Even though this novel is marketed as a thriller, I don't consider it that. I would call it a mystery with not many suspects as to who/what caused the accident.

There were just the right amount of characters and most were well-developed. What was annoying was the constant weather descriptions, always raining, windy, and cold. Chloe was never dressed warm enough, no matter where she went or what she did outside. The novel started off at a nice pace but the middle was slow moving and repetitive. The ending seemed rushed.

‘Between the Lies’ by Michelle Adams is based on one of my favourite topics for a thriller. Amnesia. A woman wakes up and can’t remember anything about her life, all she knows is she was in a car accident that may or may not have been her fault, she keeps having horrific dreams and images of someone else being there the night she crashed and of a body lying in the woods.

What I enjoyed most about ‘Between the Lies’ is the main protagonist Chloe isn’t a push over. She questions everything she is told from the minute she regains consciousness and she questions if everyone is who they say they are. This was a breath of fresh air compared to novels where characters just go along with everything they are told as if they haven’t only lost their memory but also their common sense.

What I struggled with was the believability and rawness of the plot and characters. It’s hard to explain without giving a lot of the plot away but someone dies and it seems like all is just forgiven. That Chloe shouldn’t take any ownership or responsibility for her mistakes. Her father also makes ALOT of mistakes and this is brushed off as him being a protective and controlling father who didn’t really understand the implications of his actions - something I also struggled to believe.

‘Between the Lies’ was an enjoyable novel and I found myself rushing through the pages to get to the conclusion. There were also really well thought out twists but compared to other thrillers I have read it doesn’t compare. I would recommend if someone is looking for an easy read but not to have their expectations set too high.

3.5 stars
I was already hooked by the end of the first chapter and that's saying a lot because amnesia storylines aren't typically my favorite thing to read. My motivation to keep reading really boils down to there just seemed to be so many possibilities and directions this story could take which was intriguing. While I preferred the first half of the book over the second, overall this was one of those fun, popcorn eating reads.

Chloe Daniels regains consciousness and finds herself in the hospital but has no memory of how she got there or anything about her life. Even though she doesn't recognize the people who are claiming to be her family, she goes home with them as she begins the long road to recovery. As she struggles to remember, it seems like nobody is willing to provide answers.

The real strength of this book is the author didn't paint herself into a corner. In my opinion, you really couldn't narrow down the list of suspects until the very tail end of the book which is what kept the story interesting. I can't say I absolutely liked everything about the second half of the story or the conclusion, but I also didn't hate it. I just personally thought the first half was more of a 5 star enjoyment level whereas the second was more at a 3 stars. Overall, a good read and I would love to check out the author's previous novel.

When I saw this book available on NetGalley - I requested it without reading the synopsis. I have read Michelle Adams' previous book last year and was amazed by the writing style and most importantly by its plot twists. And I am happy to report that this book did not disappoint me one bit.

Michelle Adams does not waste any time. She throws the reader right in the middle of the action. We meet our main character Chloe during a fatal car accident. Days later she wakes up from a coma with no memory of her previous life. Freaky, I know. However, everyone underestimates our little fighter. As weeks go by, and countless therapy sessions, Chloe starts to suspect that her family is hiding something from her. After multiple unanswered questions, our fearless Chloe takes the matter into her own hands and goes out into an unfamiliar world to find the truth and answers about herself and people that surround her. However, who can she really trust and how can she avoid walking into a well-set trap.

A phenomenal story about survival, and trusting your own intuition. No one knows us better than ourselves. Michelle Adams has outdone herself. I can't wait for her next book. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press Pub for a free copy of the book.

Well written. Dark and twisted a crash that takes her son's life and her voyage of discovery to find the missing pieces in her memory. Her father's perfidy is a shocking betrayal.

Sunday afternoon I sat down to read and early Monday morning I finished Between the Lies. In other words the book was a nonstop read. From the amnesia where nothing is remembered by the main character Chloe Daniels to her acceptance of her family she doesn't know, the questions abound. Of course she would have to get her memory back, it's the story, but how was she going to get there? As Chloe starts to recover, learns terrifying events of those days she cannot remember, deals with her psychiatrist father, tries to understand her mother sister and even the help, and finds little lies seem to be a family habit that stalls her memory I kept diving for clues as how the psychological thriller would resolve all things for Chloe. The plot keeps you jumping to conclusions, you root for Chloe, you boo her family, and you yell to Chloe to protect herself. Between the Lies is a very satisfactory novel to keep your mind running through all possibilities and conclusions that will bring everything to and end, and you will hope it is satisfying to you.

I liked the premise of the book: amnesia is always scary and suspenseful, and a person who lost their memory and doesn't know whom to trust makes a good main character for a thriller.

What worked well was the slow peeling of the layers, with twists and turns revealed. The idea that memories are pliable and could be altered with medicinal drugs or under hypnosis made this a compelling read.

I would not recommend this book to people who prefer a fast-paced thriller, as much of the action unfolds within the protagonist's head.

Read the blurb to ensure you don't mind the subject matter, which may be too heartbreaking for some audiences.

Excellent psychological thriller that hooks you from the get go and won’t let you go until you’ve read every last page. I love books that make me think and this one had me analyzing everything trying to guess the outcome. Chloe was in an accident and had amnesia, she was brought to her parents home and remembered absolutely nothing about her old life. Soon she learns she can’t trust anyone around here and that the things she thinks she knows aren’t true. Through the book you experience pain, grief, Love etc with Chloe, I love how the emotion just draws you in deeper.

I also absolutely loved the little trick towards the end, you’re practically yelling through the pages at Chloe and then sigh in relief in the end

The author, Michelle Adams, did a wonderful job of describing the main character, Chloe’s, increasing uneasiness about living with her family after a tragic accident that leaves her in need of assistance. Because Chloe has amnesia and doesn’t remember anything about her life, she believes everything that her parents and sister tell her until little cracks in the story she is given start to appear. Are they protecting her? Or are they in some way trying to manipulate her for reasons that we cannot know, because Chloe doesn’t have any answers? There is also another voice that pops up occasionally; a boyfriend or her husband, who is upset with her. The accident may be his fault.

The book was well written, and I liked how the author kept leading me along, leaving me wanting answers as much as Chloe did. The characters were well described; I really got a feel for what motivated them, and the constant rain really added to the atmospheric feel of the book.

Overall, this is a good, solid story.

The book contains sex and some cursing.

Chloe Daniels may not remember her life, or how she came to be in a car crash, but she knows one thing for sure, she is very uncomfortable in her parents home, and they are not being honest with her about anything, She is supposedly there to recover after having been in a coma, yet she is treated more like a prisoner than family. The gate is kept locked and she is forbidden to leave the house. Her Psychiatrist father claims he wants to "help" her but why does she feel so much worse after their "sessions"? And what kind of doctor would treat his own daughter at home anyway. Something is very wrong in this home. When she finds a picture of herself wearing a wedding ring she confronts her father and demands to know why he didn't tell her she was married and from there the twists and turns get steeper and more dangerous.

Solid thriller that did not particularly move me. Others may find it more satisfying. Among the positives is that the story is driven by the fact that you want to find just what the main character Chloe' has forgotten due to her traumatic car crash. The negatives include that one does not feel any kind of connection to Chloe' or any of the fragmented characters in the story. Everyone is kept at arms length and I felt that all of the characters were unlikable in a different way. I would try another book by this author because it was not horrible-it just was not my cup of tea. The characters seemed as they were made out of cardboard and it really held me back from enjoying the book more.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.
