I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I started this one a few times and I couldn't connect with it. I have read plenty of mm books that were more exciting and a better read over all so this kind of fell flat for me.
Strip Me will bring you sizzling man romance of Sam and Rico.
Sam works very hard in his family company. He never takes a break at all. He is kinda worry about his self when all of his friends take him out for his birthday since he won't do it for his self. While he looks around the strip club, he becomes very attract to Rico who is performing at the strip club.
Rico has been working in the strip club as side business for a couple of years so far. But lately it has becoming hassle to hime. He does not know what's going but he knows that he got to change something. And that's something is Sam.
They are both confused about being attracting to each other since they have only been with women. But their attraction for each other is off the charts that they definitely explore their self.
They may have hot chemistry between each other. But they are in different world. It will take some time to adjust their expectations especially when it is involve with family. Nothing is easy to do but it is definitely worth it for love.
I love Sam and Rico so much, and I know you will too in Strip Me. Four stars.
Strip Me takes us into the lives of Sam and Rico as they learn the power of attraction, how to embrace their sexuality, and embark on a budding relationship that will require a lot of understanding and trust.
Overall, Strip Me is an easy, provocative, steamy read by Justice and even though I thought it ended a little quickly, I’m hoping we get more of these characters in a sequel or spin-off.
I'm not sure where to begin with this book.
I liked the concept of the book but t I had a hard time connecting with the characters. There was definitely heat with this pair but it didn't quite work for me in the end.
3.5 Stars! Quick, fervent, and salacious!
Strip Me is a passionate tale that takes us into the lives of Sam and Rico as they learn the power of attraction, how to embrace their sexuality, and embark on a budding relationship that will require a lot of understanding and trust.
The writing is racy and precise. The characters are charismatic, handsome, and intelligent. And the plot is an alluring tale full of familial drama, sexual innuendoes, flirty banter, sizzling chemistry, friendship, heartfelt moments, and love.
Overall, Strip Me is an easy, provocative, steamy read by Justice and even though I thought it ended a little quickly, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that perhaps we’ll get an opportunity to check back in with these characters once again in a later novel.
Well this read has so much potential and I wish it went in a couple of different directions. We start the story with two straight guys meeting in a strip club and end hooking up together. Now I can understand the pull of someone, and truly believe there in love and lust at first sight. Totally acceptable to believe this could happen at the beginning. There were just so many situations as the story progressed that went sideways for me- and the weird side things that just seemed randomly thrown in to jar the reader.
I liked the start of the story and found it plausible, but as the story went on, the development of their relationship was odd to me. It didn't seem to flow or the pace was off. When it started to progress and I thought we were really getting somewhere, there was some random thing revealed that threw everything off again. I know I needed much more explanation to why these facts were withheld for so long. And the ending....unfortunately it was fitting for the flow of the book. I wanted to be treated to a finale, but we were sadly mislead.
The story was just ok for me. I liked the guys, but their story didn't really hold my interest.
I'm not usually a fan of gay-for-you stories, but this actually made it work. The progression seemed to make sense. Insta-lust but no insta-love which I like and the characters are enjoyable and relatably human.
honestly, insta-love/lust doesn't bother me. i don't mind the gay-for-you trope either. the only thing i require is that whatever the trope you're using, you do it well.
unfortunately, in strip me, the best way to describe this plot is ham-fisted. putting aside the crazy way these two characters hook up with each other, the issue i have with this book is how it tries to bring it all together. the characters hook up until they're not. then run into each other again and decide to try for real. except it's a secret. oh and one of them has some other really crazy secrets. oh and those crazy curveball secrets are revealed in the last twenty pages of the book.
yeah. so ham-fisted is the best way to describe this. there was potential here, it just didn't quite live up to it.
**strip me will publish on february 11, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/gallety, threshold, pocket books (pocket star) in exchange for my honest review.
Sam’s friends take him out to a strip club that caters to both men and women. He is shocked when he is attracted to Rico. They share a private lap dance and sparks fly. This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense. I liked the characters and the roller coaster ride of their relationship. An entertaining read.
I despise the gay for you trope with a firey passion so I hoped with this that maybe it would be a bisexual coming or even pansexual or demisexual book. Nope it is just a poorly handled insta lust that is just incredibly irritating that no other options for identity beyond gay and maybe one mention of bicurious.
REVIEW:
I do love a good gay-for-you book, and this one ALMOST fits the bill. The heat level in this book is hot, hot, hot, and Sam and Rico are fun characters. They are both alpha males of the highest order and the tension of their new desire for another man drives each of them crazy.
Sam is a buttoned-up executive at a company started by his father. One night, his friends take him out to a strip club to get him loosened up. Much to his surprise, he ends up fascinated by one of the male strippers instead of a hot girl.
Rico, the stripper, strips at night and works at a company about to be taken over by Sam's father's company in the day (he's multi-faceted). He's as drawn to Sam as Sam is to him. He gives Sam a VERY extended lapdance the first night they meet, and then the sex keeps on going.
Both guys are surprised by this - they've always dated women before - but they start trying to build a relationship together. Rico even goes so far as to put the hold on sex, which Sam RELUCTANTLY agrees to, so that they can date and get to know each other better.
Which is why at 85% of the book through on my Kindle, I was so surprised that Rico dropped a bombshell on Sam that came out of NOWHERE. So much for the good communication, Rico. And he was the one that was always trying to have more meaningful discussions with his partner! The author should have taken another 100 pages or so to wrap up after Rico made the revelation, but nope. Ms. Justice wrapped up in about 30 pages, and if I were Sam, I would have walked at that point.
So, for me, what had been aiming at a 4.5 star book dropped like a rock to a 2.5, which was super-disappointing. Still it was smoothly written and the guys were hot. Not so great at the communication though. . .
4/5 - I liked this book.
Two straight men.
One a stripper and the other the birthday boy getting the attention.
Lots of sexy scenes and INSTA- LOVE.
I favor insta love tropes over slow burn any day of the week.
I didn’t give this this book 5/5 because a lot was unsaid in the beginning that was important. The whole time reading I kept feeling like something was missing. I love sexy books but this needed a little more to hold on to, to feel finished?
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this arc!
Sam meets Rico at a strip club that caters to both men and women and quickly becomes entranced. His friends treat him to a lap dance and the rest, as they say, is history. Both men think of themselves as heterosexual, but they do have a great attraction for each other until a misunderstanding tears them apart. Each goes about his own business always thinking of the other, but an act of fate throws them together again - wlll they or won't they admit their attraction?
Two straight guys meet at a stripper bar ... and they hook up with each other. 🤔.
Whatev, let's roll with it. I have no problem believing in lust/love at first sight. You can see someone across a room, feel the sparks, and think "I want him". So it's only one more step forward for me to think this could happen to two previously hetero people.
I enjoyed the early parts of Rico and Sam's <S>hookups</s> relationship. I could see how something like that could develop into something more. However, I wasn't a fan of "how" it developed within the plot. Throw in a bunch of reveals that felt like coming in from left field and I found myself eye-rolling.
I can't quite put my finger on why this wasn't a five star read for me. All the elements were there, but they didn't flow seemlessly for me. Maybe I needed more introspection from both MCs. I know I needed more buildup for each reveal.
Finally --- was that a cliffhanger ending???
This wasn't the book for me. I found myself rolling my eyes a few times and disliking Sam immensely. The writing style was a bit repetitive and stream of consciousness which just felt rambly and awkward.
I never engaged with this story.
I really enjoyed this one. It was a love story for sure with an edge. I enjoyed the twist with Rico. Although I wasn’t sure how he was able to keep his secret for so long!
Rico is a stripper. He’s dancing on his birthday and gets hooked up with another birthday boy, Sam. Both men are straight but the chemistry between them quickly has them making out. Maybe just a bit more than making out. Time after time they convince themselves it’s just a thing, not important.
I’m all for insta love but this was very fast. Important information that should of been mentioned when they started to “date” was left out until almost the end of the story. Family played a roll. Would of liked to learn more about them.
Their encounters were hot. I think it was an okay story, it just needed a little something more to make it a good one. Ended like there might be more for them. I hope so.
