Love Big is the second installment of Kat Kronenberg's children's series. It follows a series of animals on the savanna in Africa, learning a second secret.

Together the animals learn about the importance of kindness, sharing, listening to each other, and showing we care.

The book is well written and illustrated beautifully. It provides wonderful reminders that each individual is important and we should seek to be kind to everyone we meet, no matter what they may look like on the outside.

My reasoning for the three stars is that this continues to be a book that makes common courtesy seem like a secret that should be hidden and not something that should be shared widely. I'm not a personal fan of this philosophy.

I would highly recommend this series. This was a great story for any reader. The digital version didn't show the picture very well but what the readers would gain was insightful and fun!

This book is so cute. I love the pictures. The story is also sweet.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the first in the series .This book was hard to follow. And it mentions poop and bum, and also says dude a lot. It just seemed immature for the message it was trying to convey, which was unfortunate.

I was invited to read the award-winning Live Big series created for children by Kat Kronenberg and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Love Big is the second book in the trilogy. This one includes quotes from Maya Angelou, Carl Sagan, and others. The animals (and kids, of course) are shown how to work together, share, and to give to others willingly.

In addition to being encouraged to listen more than we speak, kids are videos and interactive games at Kat’s website: www.katkronenberg.com. This book, too, would make a wonderful gift for that special little one on your gift list.

What made The Grumpy Book Reviewer grumpy? Not a thing!

Another great book in the Series. Baboon learns the power of sharing and caring and how far a smile can go. A great lesson for all of us.

Beautiful story and illustrations. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to add books to a school or classroom library. This book (and series) would definitely benefit all children's social/emotional well being. Thank you to the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really like this series of books. They each have fun little songs woven in, or at least my children and I turned them into songs. And they all have good lessons throughout.

In this second installment, Kat Kronenberg continues the delightful story of animals and insects sharing, listening, learning, friendship, and being kind, She writes in such a fabulous way that kids can relate to and includes little snippets of helpful information to explain concepts and teach about the animals. Beautiful artwork again and very engaging for kids and adults!

This series of books is about encouraging good behavior, believing in yourself and sharing with others which is all things children need to learn. The illustrations were beautiful in these books.
I received a copy from netgalley and the publisher and I appreciate it. This is my own opinion.

I liked the illustrations. But that was about it. I don’t know if I’m overthinking these books, but this one started rubbing me the wrong way right from the beginning when the author makes fun of rhinos’ prehensile upper lip which she claims “shows their rude, whiny ways”. What?

Then, each of the animals that pass by Baboon in this installment have to be taught how to share their food, and for sharing they’re rewarded (the bunny learns to hop apparently, the lion gets crowned the king of beasts, etc.). Somehow we were supposed to equate sharing with love, but honestly, every one of these animals shared their food out of self-preservation to survive (the bunny would have starved/frozen and the lion would’ve been killed by the lionesses attacking him...). They did not learn to share out of love.

Then don’t even get me started on the weird endnotes. There are activities that are confusing even to me as an adult (can anyone actually decifer these termite riddles??) and it bothers me to no end that many of the outside activities just say “visit the author’s website” - hello, privilege. Not every child has internet at home, so if you want them doing short activities, just print it right there in the book! #endrant

'Love Big' by Kat Kronenberg can best be described by the quote, "Share a smile and together, believe!" It carries a message of hope in the time of hunger when the African savannah was going through a dry, desolate patch. David Miles has done a beautiful job of illustrating 'Love Big' by Kat Kronenberg. When rhino is rude to the dung beetle and hurts himself in the process, the beetle surprises rhino by repaying his rudeness with kindness. So sets a chain of events, with each animal repaying the kindness.

Some of the text lacks the rhythm you look for in picture books. That said, the message is one of kindness and hope which the illustrations echo with their starry echoes and colours.

Thank you to Greenleaf Book Group Press, Netgalley and Kat Kronenberg for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful, stunning artwork throughout. The key message of this book is encouraging children (and all two-leggers) to be kind and considerate in everything that they do.

I felt that the language of the book to be a little clunky in places but the message was simple and came across really clearly.

There are several pages of additional activities to take the book further at the end of the story which could be great resources for parents or educators.

This story is set in the African forest where the characters are all different wild life animals. There are lots of new words to learn and new names of animals to learn, which was really fun for my daughter. The book is filled with sounding words which makes it an exciting read. Each story had a song that rhymed with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that is easy to follow and sing along with. That also added to the making the book a fun read.

Love Big teaches children that by being kind and sharing, it makes them beautiful. Their beauty will shine out for all others to see.

I received an advanced reader copy of Love Big through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Love Big is the story of learning to share and care for others around you, even if they are as small as a dung beetle. Throughout the learning, the animals gain new skills, but also new features, like the lion earns his mane and the rhino his horn. It’s a story of learning to see things for another’s perspective and to see the good things that caring produces. A fun read for kids and parents.

I loved the message of this book, but the story itself just didn't flow well to me. There were times I had to go back and reread just to try and follow the story. If I had trouble with it, then I'm sure kids will have trouble as well. I will say that I loved the activities included in the end. It is very helpful to keep kids engaged after reading a story. I'm sure librarians and teacher would agree that the activities are a great addition.
