Kalayna Price in Grave Destiny puts Alex Craft, grave witch in an investigation of murders in the faerie courts amidst feuds between the different courts. Kate has discovered she has faerie inheritance and needs to get a better grasp on her powers and how to use them. War is coming and no one is what they seem. Great fantasy.

As a grave witch Alex can speak to the dead, which she uses to run her investigative agency Tongues for the Dead which has been dying a slow death lately. When Dugan, a prince of the shadow court shows up unexpectantly with a case she decides to take the case with Falin as her backup. As the trio investigate the murders, things in Faerie go from bad to worse in a matter of time.

Alex has many mysteries surrounding her and her magic which makes the stories intriguing. She has a tender heart and is a loyal person which makes her the perfect heroine for this series. Book 6 sets the stage for the future and what hopefully will lead to more.

What a treat to be back in this world; I did miss it. I also just read there is one more book which I am very eager for so the story can be wrapped up. Back to this book, Alex is dealing with her new powers when she is contracted to help solve the murder of two faes. But things are not as they seem, and it isn’t long before Alex’s life is in danger once again. Because of the author’s great writing, I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, and I don’t want to say much, but I’m glad the suitor I prefer is the one she seemed to be with at the end. I’ve always had a clear favorite, and he’s winning. The Mender also made a cameo appearance, and I can’t wait for the next book so see how everything will shake out. If you are a fan of this series, this book does not disappoint. If you haven’t read this series, what the heck are you waiting for?!? I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Grave Destiny is the sixth installment in author Kalayna Price's Alex Craft series. As a series summary, Grave Witch Alex Craft desperately needs training in being a plane weaver. Up to this point, she's been shooting in the dark hoping that something doesn't backfire and cause even more issues. Trouble has a tendency of following Alex around like bad luck.

She and her partner Riana McBride operate Tongues for the Dead where the raise shades to help solve issues that might rise up but they've been having financial issues lately. Of course, Alex's revelation that she is Fae hasn't gone unnoticed by the Fae courts or anyone else for that matter. In fact, Alex owes a bit of longitude to the Winter Queen for one year and one day.

As the story begins, Alex is visited by the Shadow Prince Dugan who asks Alex for help in solving a double murder by raising the shade of the murdered Fae. She and Dugan are accompanied by Falin Andrews who is the Winter Queen's Knight and assassin. Falin is an ex-lover, while Dugan is apparently Alex's betrothed which she isn't exactly jumping for joy over. Alex, Falin and Dugan need to put any personal issues behind and try to solve a double homicide which seems to be the first casualties in a full out war.

The trio will twist their way through fae politics which will see them touch on all of the Fae courts, while finding themselves up to their necks in a dangerous game that is likely to cause even more bad bloodshed. What's even more curious is that the Mender has decided to call in his favor that Alex owes. He wants to collect all of the souls in Fae, and Alex is going to help whether she likes it or not.

This is a story that is filled with all sorts of characters as well as plenty enough action to keep everyone happy. Most of the story itself takes place in Fae which means readers will visit the declining Shadow Court, and the thriving Summer Court that is filled with surprises. While Death does make an appearance in this story, it's not all that important to the general storyline, or he final outcome. I will say that the final part of this story is both the best, and the most intriguing to see what the author has in store for future installments.

Alex wants to find a way to learn more about her powers when she is hired both by the shadow and winter courts to uncover murders that have taken place in the winter court. Alex finds herself, with Dugan and Falin, traversing a tenuous path that has them all in the sights of the killer.

Price writes a strong and masterfully engaging addition to the Alex Craft series. The mystery will keep you guessing till the end while captivating the reader with characters that you just can't help but to route for. Can't help but love the friendships the Alex creates as she is tuggled through the fae world.

Solid 4.5 star read for me.

It’s always a real pleasure to find a new Alex Craft novel, so how can I resist this 6th volume? Well, I can’t and I was really looking forward to finding out what the author was going to propose, and I’m thrilled!

Alex needs help to control her powers, but now she finds herself in a story that is completely beyond her control. Dugan and Falin need her to investigate a murder that could well lead to a war. As a team, our three heroes will have to face several monarchs but above all several plots that could well change the kingdoms in a way! But what they might find out could change the deal!

I’m always a little afraid of being disappointed with the growing number of novels in a saga, but that’s far from being the case and I was completely swept away! The alliance between the three characters is surprising, but the whole thing works perfectly and I must admit that I was really curious to see how things would end. Besides, I can say that I was very surprised by the ending which makes me want to have the next one even more! Arghh, why do we always have to wait? I want the rest now!

In any case, I had a really good time with this novel and I loved discovering this new story! It’s a series that I recommend!

Grave Destiny by Kalayna Price is the 6 book in her Alex Craft series. Alex is a grave witch, who runs an investigation firm, using her ability to rise the dead and talk to them. Alex now has more magical fae ability, such as plane weaving, but she does not know how to handle this magic; she is also beholden to the Winter Queen (as an independent fae that other courts would love to have), but she tries to stay away from the Winter Court as much as possible and live in the human realm.

Prince Dugan of the Shadow Court comes to visit Alex to ask for help in a murder investigation. Before she has a chance to accept or turn Dugan down, Falin, and the Winter Queen’s Knight comes barging into Alex’s office to warn her about Dugan. With men not trusting each other, Alex agrees to take the case, since it affects both the Shadow Court and the Winter Court. Of course, both men will stay close as Alex enters the Fae world as she works on discovering what happened to the two men (from both courts) who were mysteriously murdered.

What follows is an exciting and at times intense story that takes place in Fairie land through most of the book and where Alex, Falin and Dugan discover that the murders are an attempt to start an all out war between the Shadow and the Winter Court; but the question is who is behind this. With Alex in the center, she finds herself in some life threatening situations a number of times, including being affected by a incurable disease. Will Alex survive? Who is the betrayer?

There are so many twists and turns, keeping us guessing until the very end. While this is going on, we get to see Alex finally get some help learning how to handle her planeweaver ability, but she has a long way to go. She will need everything she has to stay alive, and it seems there are many from the various courts that either wants Alex for themselves or to kill her. Dugan was very good in helping Alex, but it was Falin, who showed his true feelings for Alex. Will she let herself trust him and fall for him again?

This is a complicated review, as it would require giving spoilers. Grave Destiny was an exciting, action packed, interesting and wild adventure, as Alex tries to solve this case and come out of it alive. Kalayna Price pulls a mind boggling twist at the end, that leaves us totally in shock. I have heard rumors that this book might be the end of the series, however with this unbelievable change, there is no way that we will be left hanging. The Alex Craft is written very well by Kalayna Price, and it is a fun series.

Grave Destiny is the sixth book in the Alex Craft series, and based on how events went in this book, it’s nowhere near the last either. Fans of Kalayna Price can rejoice at that news! If you’ve never heard of the Alex Craft series; it follows a Grave Witch on her increasingly more dangerous adventures amongst the fae.
One of the things that first drew me to this series was the covers. I love the light blue and white tones of the covers (hinting at the chill of the grave, naturally). And Alex is always a striking image on her covers.
The series is urban fantasy heavy, but it also steadily has more and more time spent in the world of fairy. It’s perfect for any fantasy of fairy fans out there, especially because it’s so intelligent in how it discusses fae nature and politics.
Grave Destiny may just be my favorite novel in the Alex Craft series, which is probably saying something. This has been one of my favorite series for year, and it feels like each new novel ups the ante from the last one.
This was an intense and fast-paced novel. I’m not exaggerating when I say I read it in one night. I couldn’t put it down, so instead I opted to stay up late and read it start to finish. I may have been a bit of a zombie the next day, but I have no regrets about my decision.
One of my favorite elements of Grave Destiny, and all of the Alex Craft novels in general, is how carefully Kalayna Price describes her fae. They’re sneaky and while beautiful, fully capable of malicious deeds. They’re intelligent and witty, and are always looking to get the better end of the deal. That Alex is relatively new to this world and having to struggle through their politics just makes the series that much more interesting.
I’ll confess that this novel did leave me missing a lot of the secondary characters. We didn’t see much of Alex’s friends, roommates, or coworkers here. Unless you count Falin (I put him in a whole different category though). And I missed Death too. But honestly? That’s my biggest complaint about this book, and it isn’t much of a complaint either.
I loved the plot, it was intense and held my attention the whole way through. I kept trying to predict how each part was going to play out. I was too curious not to. It was refreshing to have a story told mostly from the fae side of things, in its own way. And I loved seeing more of some of the other characters.
I really enjoyed reading Alex’s perspective in this novel. She’s had a lot to deal with as of late, but nothing ever seems to slow her down. I loved that she was self-aware enough to seek out help on a couple of specific points (and no, I won’t tell you which points).
As for Alex’s abilities…I have always loved that they come at a cost to her. It’s been a major reason why I love her character and her ability set. It just…fits. I’ve always liked her Grave Witch abilities, and wanted to know more about her Planeweaving abilities. I got both in this novel, so I really can’t complain.
This novel did bring with it a surprising amount of changes. I won’t say what changes, for obvious reasons. But I will say that I’m anxious to see how those changes play out in the next novel (which I don’t think has a name yet?).
No matter what the title ends up being for the next novel, I know I’m going to end up reading it. Now I just have to be patient and wait for news.

Grave Destiny is another wonderful entry into the world of Nekros, fairies, grave witches, and planeweaving. Alex Craft is a grave witch, but she's so much more. She's actually a fae with a rare talent to planeweave. Grave Destiny sees her accepting her heritage and talents and searching for answers. And because it's Alex, she also ends up stumbling into court intrigues, this time involving her "betrothed" from the Court of Shadows.

Grave Destiny is brilliant as it finally begins to unravel some of the greater mysteries and larger issues surrounding the faerie realm. We are introduced to rulers from the Summer Court and the Court of Light, setting up future struggles. Grave Destiny also continues to show the struggles for Alex's heart. Falin, Death, and now Dugan? Who will hold her heart? Who's behind the current plot?

I thoroughly enjoyed this entry into the series. It was satisfying on its own and also makes me that much more eager for the continued story. Grave Destiny sets up future plots quite nicely and I can't wait to see them play out. From changes in Faerie, both large and small, and continued intrigues between and amongst the various courts. Another visit to Summer will be very interesting.

If aren't reading this series, give it a chance. While it does seem reminiscent at times of other paranormal series, specifically Seanan McGuire's Toby Daye, it has enough differences to stand on its own. ANd if you are a fan of Toby, you'll be a fan of Alex.

When I first picked up Kalayna Price it was at the beginning of Alex’s adventures. Alex’s story has come a long way from the first book and I feel….undecided about it. The first few novels are almost nothing like these last ones. I loved the addition of the fae world but feel like Alex’s beginnings are almost…meaningless. Maybe it is just me that feels this way. Still, at the same time I understand that she needed to grow and making her life really complicated by adding in the fae was a good choice. Some people out there have stated this was the last book but we have no proof of that is really the case. If Grave Destiny will be the last book I will say that the story was good, the character did grow, but overall the series flow needed work. I still have questions and many of them revolve around Alex’s abilities and the future. I can see how the author can take this world and write books about others to continue but I feel that Alex’s story is not done.

Alex's next case comes when Prince Dugan from the Shadow court comes and asks her to investigate a murder. She has recently learned that she was betrothed to Prince Dugan at birth. Needless to say, she isn't okay with that. Her lovelife is complicated enough without throwing in a fiance.

Adding to the complication is that she is currently an independent fae under the authority of the Winter Queen. In fact she is under the close supervision of Falin Andrews who is the Winter Queen's Knight and assassin. Falin was also her lover for a time but, because he is under oath to obey the Winter Queen, he told Alex that she should not trust him. Falin appears shortly after Dugan because Dugan doesn't have the Queen's permission to hire Alex or even be in Nekros City.

When Alex learns that Dugan wants her to investigate the death of one of his court who was found dead in the bedroom of a member of the Winter Court who is also dead, Alex is interested - especially in the paycheck since things have been tight for her private investigation agency.

Falin, Dugan and Alex team up with lots of suspicion between the men to investigate. This drops Alex in the middle of Fairie and way too close to the Winter Queen. They all soon realize that someone is trying to start a war. Faerie with its seven courts is already out of balance. The Shadow Court is declining, Winter is destabilizing under a queen who may be going insane, and every fae that is breathing is plotting something.

Meanwhile, Alex is also looking for a teacher to help her learn about her talent for planeweaving but is having little luck. The only planeweavers she knows about are in a court she can't access. She does begin to get some training when the Mender calls in the favor that he granted to her in an earlier book. He wants to collect the souls in Faerie which doesn't connect to the Land of the Dead or the realm of the collectors. He teaches her more about her powers than anyone else has been able to teach her.

This story was filled with action, danger, fae plots, and romantic entanglements. I really like Alex and love finding out more about her. While this book does not end on a cliffhanger, there are certainly questions about Alex's powers and her future that I would like answers for.

Grave Destiny is the 6th installment in the Alex Craft series. Seems like I waited forever for this one! Alex is back with Falin & Dugan trying to solve a murder in Faerie. I really enjoyed Dugan and hope to see him more, but I really missed Death! Lots of new characters and answers for Alex kept me turning the pages until the surprise ending. Didn’t see that one coming! Looking forward to what’s next for Alex.

The story seems to be ever increasingly rooted in Faerie. Grave magic did play a role in this although it was a small one. I miss it that Alex no longer seems to be straddling two worlds, but this may be a temporary break from that. Rather momentous things happened. Alex’s life will no longer be the same.

My feelings are mixed about how some things have turned out, but it is good that Alex’s path has become more clear. She learned much more about her magic and the history of faerie. Knowing the history makes it easier to understand what needs to be done.

The love triangle seems to have been resolved by default rather than by Alex’s choice, but I strongly emphasize seems to have been. Things went one way that strongly opened the door for one suitor, but something else important happened that may have opened the door for the other.

Since I received an early ARC of this story, I won’t divulge much. While not my favorite installment of this series, Grave Destiny sets up a major plot twist with serious implications to come down the line. Just when you thought you had this series figured out, Price throws in a wicked curve that leaves you speechless. Huge. Epic. Oh yeah. You’re reading that right. Alex is facing a major battle. One that puts her in the cross-hairs of some very dangerous fae with a dubious plot. Not everything is what it seems when it comes to a fae murder, and it leads Alex down a path that has the potential to change absolutely everything. And, I mean everything. Stay tuned for one heck of a ride to come in the next book.

Grave Destiny by Kalayna Price is the next installment of the Alex Craft series. Alex Crafts farther asks for help on a case. She can talk to the dead and find out how the are killed. Her tuffest case might be her last her magic is poisoning her. Helping her farther takes her to farie land. Being a planeweaver helps her solve cases but hopefully before her time runs out she can solve this one.
Great edition to the series! Action packed you cant put it down.
Can’t wait for more by this outstanding author!!!

Full review to be published online in mid April.

3.5 Stars, but I’m rounding up because although it wasn’t to my personal taste, that doesn’t mean it’s not interesting and well written.

Definite mixed feelings on GRAVE DESTINY. While it was nice to have a new book after a wait of two years, the storyline didn’t tick all of my boxes. When the plotline centered on the case and Alex’s talents as a grave witch/plane weaver, the story was fine. Unfortunately (for me) the case took place entirely in faery. I’m not a huge fan of the fae by a long stretch; they are by far my least favorite UF paranormals. While I enjoy reading the politics of various paranormal groups; I don’t enjoy reading about fae politics…because again, I don’t care for the fae. This is a personal reading bias, others may love it. On that note, I also have to say that I miss the early books which were about Alex’s cases and raising the dead to get info from them. The latter books are all fae, all the time; and the series has lost track of where it came from, which is a bummer.

As to the rumor that GRAVE DESTINY is to be the last book of the series, the ending gave off the vibe that it could go either way. Lots of threads were tied up a satisfactory enough fashion, including Alex’s personal dilemma with the men in her life. By the same token, the book ended in way that opened the door to a new chapter in her life, so who knows. I really think it depends on whether author Kalyan’s Price ever gets around to writing more, honestly.

A solid and enjoyable entry in the series. I enjoy this series more when it focuses on the fae side of Alex's heritage, and this book was all fae politics, all the time. There is also some nice movement and resolution in some of the long-running story lines, which set up some interesting possibilities for future books in the series.

I really enjoyed the addition of Dugan in this book and the relatively streamlined story line. The ending was well done and I can't wait to read what happens next in this series.

Really enjoyed this installment and the addition of Dugan! I love the dynamic he added! It sounds like, and I am hoping, he will be around in the future. That ending! WOW! I did not see that coming. Very anxious to see what the next installment brings! So many possibilities!
