I recommend this book to Susan Mallery's readers (it will NOT disappoint!) and to new readers of this author. She covers a lot of ground in this book, which is the interwoven stories of three adult sisters, their mother, and their various love interests. Brisk plot, great characters, and sensitive exploration of issues. Great read!
You just know that when you open a Susan Mallery book, you will be instantly transported into the story, the characters and all their ups and downs. You will laugh and cry and rally behind the characters routing for them to overcome and persevere !
California girls is no different , you will meet Finola , Zennie and Ali , three sisters whose lives have just changed drastically and who have to rediscover themselves and their inner strength !
I loved this book, each of these ladies had their own challenges to deal with and I found them easily like able!
I enjoyed this book from
Beginning to end !
Another great read by Susan Mallery ! She does not disappoint. Fun characters that keep you not wanting to put this down. Will definitely recommend to others.
I thought this was another delightful ready by Susan Mallery. I loved reading about the three main characters, sisters, Finola, Zinnie and Ali. Each sister provided a different perspective about their lives, dealing with loss, love, transition, heartbreak and renewal. Using the mother character as comedic relief, Mallery gives the reader another light, enthralling, and engaging read.
That you NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.
Another enjoyable read from Mallery, pretty much what you'd expect. The reader watches as each woman goes through their own difficulties anf how they manage to power through.
I very much enjoyed this book, although I found the title puzzling. My initial reaction to the title was to picture the tanned beach girls of the song. This was indeed about three sisters, all living in California, but it didn't feel like it fit. I loved the story, how the interaction of each sibling was portrayed as well as how each had her own story-line. It was a great weekend read and I enjoyed it very much!
I have been a huge fan of Susan Mallery for years!! She has written some of my all time favorite series. This book was not the best but definitely enjoyable if you are looking for something light, easy and quick to read.
Thank you #netgalley and #harlequinmira for the eARC.
Susan Mallery books are light and fluffy, which is exactly what I need at this point in my year. I thought that the descriptions of Southern California were fun, and she did a great job contrasting the three sisters. Predictable, yes, but enjoyable too. Recommended to those people who are totally fine with their books being light and super readable!
Another great book from Susan Mallery. This is they story of 3 sisters and their stories of stuggles and growth. Finola’s husband cheats on her, Zinnie is asked to be a surrogate and Ali’s fiancé calls off the wedding about 5 weeks before the wedding. This is a great book about life and learning from you experiences and moving forward. There is romance in this book but not the main focus. It is definitely worth the read.
The California Girls is an entertaining read. The three sisters in the book are so well developed, I felt like I was a part of their family. Each.sister is unique and their bond with each other is strong. When I stopped reading I would wonder how they were doing. I think part of my fascination was due to being an only child. If I could choose a sister any one of them would be a strong candidate. I liked the family dynamics that showed change is a part of growth. Very enjoyable story.
I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from Harlequin-Mira through NetGalley. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

California Girls, the story of three sisters who are dumped by their significant others on the same day. I enjoyed reading a book where the sisters did not have perfect storybook relationships. The mother was a bit over the top for my taste and the ending was a little too neatly wrapped up. Overall an enjoyable read.
A contemporary romance about three women who face unexpected challenges when they think they've got it all figured out. Finola, Zennie and Ali are sisters who believe their childhood seem less than ideal when compared to each other and finds some way to ignore their own shortcomings. When life throws them a curveball they come face to face with who they are and it's up to to them to ignore it or change. Susan Mallery weaves a very believable tale that makes the reader question their own life choices, childhood and how it has impacted them. I didn't particularly like each female protagonist but I did relate to their struggles and sympathized with their plight. The male leads in the book provided a nice balance and showed that even the men face their own challenges even when they seemed to have gotten it together. Pick up the book and give it whirl.. You won't be disappointed
California Girls by Susan Mallery is an interesting look at relationships in family, amongst friends and between lovers. It revolves around the lives of three sisters all of whom are dealt a blow on the same day. I enjoyed the interaction between them and their mother and liked that not all the ends were neatly tied up. My only slight gripe is that it ends very suddenly!
Another great book by Mallory. This is about 3 sisters who have their lives fall apart on the same day. The story follows each sister and her coming to terms with the changes in her life. It is also about family and being there for each other. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the sisters and was rooting for them. If you are looking for a feel good book this is it. I would give this book 4 1/2 stars. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
There are lots of laugh out loud moments in this book, but also some deeper emotional ones such as the relationships between the sisters, their mother, and the men in their lives. Each sister has a choice to make, and each finds that starting over can bring new happiness.
I actually loved this book. The characters were flawed and the story told of their road to fixing and/or accepting those flaws. I also loved that happy endings weren't all about love.
All three sisters have been dumped at the same time. Finola is a host for a tv show. She finds out before a live taping that her husband is having an affair with a much younger pop star. Ali is dumped six weeks before her wedding day by her fiancé brother. Zennie has been dumped but it doesn't affect her. She has a hard time understanding why the world needs to pair up. She's happy with her life the way it is. Can all three sisters bounce back and learn to lean on each other. I love Susan Mallorys books. She is an awesome storyteller the way she describes these women and there bond as sisters is amazing.
Just when the world seems against them, three sisters find an inner strength and a bond they never expected.
Television personality, Finola is finally ready to give her husband his greatest desire-children. She plans to tell him on a rare getaway that goes awry when she learns he’s been having an affair.
Zinnie is happy on her own. She’s focused on a nursing career and only dates because it’s ‘the thing to do.’ So, when her best friend (a cancer survivor) approaches her to be a surrogate, Zinnie jumps at the opportunity to help. Except, being pregnant and alone, is harder than she expected.
Ali is getting married in six short weeks and she’s going crazy between preparations and keeping up to her mother who needs help decluttering her home so she can sell it. Then, in a cowardly move, her fiancé sends his handsome brother to call off the wedding.
What follows is how these three so-different sisters overcome the crisis each of them face and find strength from unexpected places.
Some of my favorite scenes happened in the family home as the three girls and their mother come together amid thirty years of memories.
I give California Girls 4 lovely kisses- An enjoyable read!
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin-MIRA books for this opportunity.
I really enjoyed this book. It took a hard look at the dynamics of sisters and their relationships as well as the relationships between husbands and wives. I think the best part of the book was it made me realize that nothing should not be taken for granted especially relationships. The author did a great job of walking the reader through each of the sisters lives and how a bad day did not have to define their lives. Each sister had to re-look at herself and the way their lives were going to see what their lives were really like. Great book that I would recommend to my friends
In “California Girls” by Susan Mallery we meet three sisters who on the surface could not be any different. But when all three get dumped a few days apart from each other they begin to see who they were and realize that along the way something shifted and they lost more than the men in their lives.
As they begin to put their lives back together, we get to see how they plan to rebuild a better them. It helps when you throw in a small felony, In & Out Burger in a recovery room and offers for revenge sex.
I am a Susan Mallery fan (Fools Gold all the way) so this was a change in my reading for her and I could not be happier. I received an ARC through Net Galley of this book and this is my honest review.
