Cute and fun with just enough special spice to make me keep coming back. I really liked the main character!!
This book was a mixed bag for me. The premise of the sisters was interesting, but the plot sometimes felt flat, and the characters didn’t really stand out. They seemed pretty typical, and I found the ending predictable, especially as someone who reads a lot of romance novels.
I did enjoy the sisterly bond, but the romance didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The introduction of the "love bug" felt problematic and really took me out of the story. While I wouldn't say it's a must-read, it might work for someone new to the genre.
DNF at 25%. It's been over three years since I received this ARC. I gave it a go and have decided it is not for me. It interested me then and no longer does now.
Overall this was an okay book. The plot fell flat in places and the characters were not anything special. I wish there was more depth to them. They felt very typical. And the ending felt predict for one who reads a lot of romance novels. I would still recommend this to someone who’s looking for an introduction to romance novels.
Definitely feels to be more womens fiction. Even the blurb is more about the sisters than love. Overall a good read.
I think this book had lots of promise but it just didn't hit the mark with me. I felt like the characters were flat and there needed more. I also thing the premise needed some work.
I fully intend to share this book with my STEM in Libraries students when we talk about adult STEM books. I love the trend of science based romance novels. This one was a little different from my usual. It was very British, but very enjoyable.
I couldn't get into this one I was just so bored it felt like it took forever to finish it probably because I literally fell asleep multiple times trying to get through this.
I didn't find any of the characters particularly likable except maybe Liam. But what really noped this story for me was when they introduced the "love bug" and explained how it works. Its essentially long term date rape. That they would even consider this an option is horrible.
I have mixed feelings about the book. I liked the sisters' story but the romance bit did not work for me.
Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.
I know this is meant to be a rom-com but I liked it mostly for the relationship between Molly and Sarah- two very different sisters. It's a good light read.
I loved the cover-art! However, the novel itself was difficult for me to finish. Nothing interested me. Not the plot nor the character. Despite being the protagonists, I didn't root for Sarah and Molly AT ALL. The actions were highly questionable. The writing style was, at times, hard to get through.
I wasn't a fan of this romance. Just didn't feel like the characters had any chemistry. I had to push myself to finish this.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ebook. In exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't a fan of the romance. Which is exactly why I was looking forward to reading this book. I wanted an easy and quick read. But this book just wasn't for me. It took me longer than I expected to finish reading.
This was a pretty average romance for me. I struggled with the various romantic plotlines and just didn't understand Sarah's reasoning for keeping a certain secret. While Sarah had better chemistry with her two love interests, Molly was a more interesting MC.
Additionally, as someone who has worked in the scientific field I wasn't the biggest fan of how it was represented in this novel.
I wasn’t able to finish this book. It wasn’t what I expected and I lost interest in it. It couldn’t hold my attention, unfortunately. I tried to give it a good try but this book was just not for me.
DNF
Incorrect nerdy references, pregnancy, and cheating. Probably not my thing. And the British people keep measuring in miles??? Also the word doc PDFs you guys use are really hard to read.
The premise of this book didn’t work for me unfortunately. The idea of a love solution felt a bit contrived and akin to rape.
The cover and the description really dragged me in with this book - both were adorable and totally up my rom-com alley. Unfortunately, this book ended up being a DNF for me. There were a few things that unfortunately made me give up on this book - firstly was the love bug potion. The fact that it basically took another person's ability to choose away felt pretty damn morally wrong. In fact, it felt a little bit like rape. The second issue was the writing quality - it was substandard and made getting immersed in the story exceedingly hard. The dialog in particular really missed the mark - a lot of it didn't sound like things people would actually say. The third issue was the couples themselves - they weren't believable and were hard to root for.
This a story about two sisters, one crafty (Sarah) and one sciencey (Molly). When Sarah goes through a break up, Molly is there with ice cream, rom-coms, and a bit of science to save the day. Sounds cute, right? Wrong. There are so many issues with this. The science used in this plan is basically like a love potion (think Amortentia from Harry Potter), something Molly's lab has been creating and Sarah wants to use it to make her boyfriend love her again. Do you see the same issues I am? This sort of plot has no place in a world where we are actively trying to fight against rape drugs, because that's exactly what this is. It removes the other person's ability to consent and I am absolutely disgusted by it.
