I love this series. What could be better than a book about Key West AND food? Food critic Hayley Snow did not disappoint in this novel. I really enjoy her character. Thanks to Crooked Lane Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Nathan and Hayley were making the greatest step they can for the relationship, by getting married. So it’s no wonder the stress and anxiety of the occasion got them causing a few anxious moments for them. To top it off a death occurred on the food tour Hayley was on and subsequently became involved in the investigation due to her friend's request, and being such a soft-hearted soul, she couldn’t resist from getting involved. Imagine the life these two would have, Nathan a cop and Hayley an amateur sleuth, I sure would like to be that fly on their kitchen wall to hear all the cross patches they had to maneuver. This has been interesting, entertaining and mildly intriguing.

Loved it! I read it in a day. I've missed a few books in the series so it was nice to get caught up with these fantastic characters again. The series is a great cozy mystery with good plotting and likable characters. The character's interactions and relationships along with the mystery itself were well written. I'll be catching up on the books I missed and will be watching for the next book!

An intriguing cozy murder mystery. Fans of the genre will enjoy this one. Relaxing and fun to read. It's a cute entertaining story.

Other reviewers classed this as a 'cosy detective'. It is just that although with rather little emphasis on the 'detective' bit. A death on a 'food tour' followed by a murder of the husband has our heroine chasing around talking to foody friends and restauranteurs in and around Key West on her wretched scooter. Her fiance is the detective although he has a minimal role in the case or the book; she's the one chasing clues. She's also planning her upcoming wedding along with a mixed set of relations. All very busy busy busy. It's an ok lightweight read; the characters are pleasant enough; the descriptions of Key West are such that I could probably walk around it now without getting too lost; the foody bits are ok and I actually liked some of the recipes at the end of the book. I don't care enough about the characters to go and find the rest of the books though.

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book it was a great experience

Hayley and Nathan are getting married but before then Hayley has one more journalistic assignment. On the food tour that she's reviewing someone dies. As its her friends business Hayley investigates despite the objections of her policeman fiance.
Nathan has his own problems with a secret assignment keeping him busy.
The characters are likeable and the Key West setting is well drawn.
Its the 9th book in the series, I hadn't read any of the previous books but I didn't find it a problem.

It’s the week leading up to Hayley and Nathan’s wedding and there is no shortage of things to do as their houseboat has not been remodeled, both are still working, and Thanksgiving is the day before they walk down the aisle. During a seafood tour Hayley is taking as research for an article she is working on, one of the participants collapses and dies. While she has promised she wouldn’t get involved in investigations, she can’t decline a request from her friend who runs the food tours and could see not only her business destroyed, but also those of the restaurants they visited on the tour.
But Hayley isn’t the only one busy with work as Nathan is either hanging out a the local strip club or working on a secret assignment. When the husband of the tourist is found dead in a dumpster behind the strip club, Hayley has to wonder if the death of the tourist is tied to what Nathan and the team are working on?
When Nathan doesn’t show for Thanksgiving dinner and she can’t reach him or his fellow officer, Hayley’s nerves begin to ratchet up several notches. It doesn’t help that he’s not only on some undercover assignment, but a violent criminal he helped to put away has broken out of prison and he swore he’d seek revenge against Nathan one day. Hayley knows being married to a police officer is going to be hard, but she loves Nathan with all her being and is committed to not become “That wife”. Still, something isn’t sitting right with her so she decides to drive around town and look for her betrothed. A woman should always trust her intuition and luckily this bride to be trusted hers before the big day.
This was the first of this series I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was great as a standalone, but I am going to be spending some time with the first eight books in the series to stave off the winter cold! Great character development and writing. You can almost smell the pink shrimp and taste the key lime pie! You’ll be wondering about whodunit and why right up to the end.

I enjoyed this chef/food mystery. Interesting and likeable characters. Enjoyed being with them in Key West. What a combination - a chef who likes to solve mysteries and a (finally) husband who is a somewhat rogue cop who likes to tell his (finally) wife to stay out of police business. But what do you do when friends are in need of help? Try not to get in too deep.....

A solid offering in the cosy mystery genre, A DEADLY FEAST has Hayley Snow investigating a murder (Hayley’s friend, Analise Snow, runs a seafood tasting tour and one of the customers has died).
Along with the investigation of the death, readers of this genre will delight in the second plot regarding Hayely & her police officer fiancee, Nathan Bransford (and cooks and bakers will enjoy the recipes included at the end of the book.)
Written in a light, easy tone, A DEADLY FEAST is perfect for a lazy day at home (or on the beach), curled up in comfy clothes, along with some delicious treats for company.

This book is well written. The characters were described good. Who would thought it was them who did it. This is a new to me author and I will definitely be reading more by her. Mysteries are one of my favorite genres to read.

law-enforcement, key-west, murder-investigation, food, friendship, family-dynamics
Key West food critic Hayley Snow has a lot on her plate (groan!). Thanksgiving, her wedding to a homicide detective, having work completed on their houseboat while all contractors are overworked following a very recent hurricane, helping her elderly roommate with her projects, and now she is in the middle of things when it appears that the woman who stroked out on a food tour with Hayley was poisoned!
The characters are engaging and the plot very quick yet complete with twists and red herrings. I enjoyed it a lot!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

So many of the stories I have encountered lately involve the heroine and her wedding. Obviously this is a cozy fiction because there is no way someone could solve a murder and pull off a wedding simultaneously. It sure is fun to read about it though. Don't forget to look to the back of the book for great recipes like the decadent lobster mac and cheese (I can feel the pounds adding up as I imagine the scrumptious meal). Haley promises to not get involved when a fellow food tour participant dies of a stroke. Why would she, other than because her food tour guide friend says PLEASE. Then there is the chef at the restaurant where the poor woman collapsed after eating a dreamy little key lime pie. Haley promised Nathan, her fiancé she would steer clear but it seems that she can't say no and Nathan isn't around to watch her every move because he is deep in an investigation and isn't sharing details. All of this while she tries to get the new/old houseboat remodeled and then there is the stress of having divorced parents sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner together. I would have never made it but it sure was fun to read about Haley handling it all with great aplomb. Excellent read!

I received this book as an ARC and I am so glad I did !! This is the first time I have read this author and I can say that she is my new favorite writer. I liked her characters, Hayley, Nathan and of course Ms. Gloria.. The story was well written with time given to get to know the suspects. The build up to the murders is exciting.. I didn't guess the murderer until the end, the author really keeps you guessing.
I also enjoyed reading about the Keys and the communities. This book makes you feel Ike you are on vacation with a great group of foodie friends. The recipes at the end of the book are amazing too, I've made a couple aof them, and they were a hit.
I am so glad I received this ARC, I rate it 5 stars for great characters, mystery, and just a escape like a mini vacation that you don't have to pack for. Now I'm off to purchase the other books in this series.
Happy Reading

In this ninth volume of the Key West Food Critic mystery series, it's a busy holiday season in Key West for Hayley Snow. Not only is she gearing up for a blended family Thanksgiving, but Hayley is also set to wed Detective Nathan Bransford the day after. A sudden death during a seafood tour is bad luck for both the tour-runner and all participating restaurants; inevitably, Hayley finds herself drawn in to an amateur investigation, even whilst she tries to leave it to the police. Throw in a suspected smuggling ring, possible kitchen sabatage, and pre-martial counseling, and it'll be all Hayley can do to make it to the aisle.
There was a lot going on in this book, with the author tackling a lot of big issues (perception of prison/prisoners, drug smuggling, mental health problems, #MeToo era themes) and small-scale problems (flaky contractors, relationship communication issues, blended family tension, wedding stress). Overall, this is a good read--maybe a bit too packed. The food descriptions, however, were deliciously worded and well-spaced out throughout the book. I've been reading this series since the beginning and hope to see more in the future!

I am a lover of murder mysteries and throw in a cute small town, mouthwatering foods and I am blissfully happy.
I picked it up because the cover looked enticing and the description piqued my interest. Part of a series called Key West Food Critic Mystery, A DEADLY FEAST is the 9th book . I haven't read any other except this one and surprisingly I really liked it . I generally like reading in the chronological order basically for the characters and how they are developed and their background stories . But i jumped right into this one and devoured it.
I am excited and looking forward to read the previous books in this series .!!

I love this series and this addition was fun to read.
Haley is a fun character who always brings a smile to my face.
A Deadly Feast is a fast paced story that will leave the reader guessing until the end.
I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Lucy Burdette's 9th Key West Food Critic Mystery, A Deadly Feast, takes the reader on a culinary and mysterious tour of Florida's most famous key, and it's my absolute favorite in the series so far! Hayley and her fiance, Detective Nathan Bransford, are all set to be married the day after Thanksgiving when Nathan becomes embroiled in a very hush-hush case, and Hayley is (shockingly, lol!) a witness once again to a sudden death. Was it murder or an accident? Will the renovations on their new houseboat ever be completed (or started???)? Will Hayley and Nathan make it to the church on time? To find out the answer to these burning questions, I highly recommend that you treat yourself to this perfect little cozy mystery! A well-written story, and (as usual) delicious recipes are included as a bonus. A+++

A nice way to escape during the holidays! The author writes a great mystery, enchanting characters, and a beautiful setting all wrapped in a novel you will want to read again and again. Once you start this book, you won't be able to put it down until the last page.

Kindle Copy for Review from Net Galley
I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Hayley Snow is getting ready for Thanksgiving and her upcoming nuptials. But nothing goes smoothly for the food critic as a guest attending a food tasting dies not from seafood but from key lime pie that the pastry chef made. Did she poison her pie or was it sabotage?
If Thanksgiving food is not stressful enough toss in a murder to keep things busy for Hayley and her police officer fiancé Nathan. A wonderful read.
