I received an excerpt in exchange for an honest review. The world in Bloodwitch was well done. The characters are dynamic and moving, relatable. The pace is well written. I loved what I read, and I can't wait to read the whole novel. Susan Dennard did it again. I can already tell that Bloodwitch IS a must read.
It as an amazing excerpt and i can't wait for the full book becasue Susan Denard never disappointed me whit her books. 5/5 stars amazing.
The book starts off right in the midst of the action - Aeduan searching through a field of the dead - and doesn't let up. The pace is fast, woven through with the impressive world-building and complex narrative of the world Dennard has created.
The cast is more expansive than ever - Safi, Iseult, Aeduan and Merik of course have POVs, with Vivia's POV returning and a new POV from Stix. Despite (at least) five separate story lines occurring, Dennard manages to balance them all. Switching POVS was seamless at the end of each chapter and I never struggled to remember what had happened to each character previously even if they'd last 'spoken' several chapters back.
Friends, there is one thing upon reading this excerpt I can promise you about Bloodwitch - it's going to be the best book in the Witchlands series to date. It was that good.
The thing about Susan Dennard is that her metaphors and descriptive prose are incredible. There's no lack of that here. She knows exactly how to make you feel all of the feelings with something as simple as "that spot tucked right in front of her left lung." Are you kidding me with that, Susan? I will never get sick of it.
This book will truly bring all of the best parts of the Witchlands series with POV's from multiple characters we know and love with a concentration on everyone's favorite demon, Aeduan. We're seeing more of the end of the truce and the different clans and new places and world building thick and juicy enough to sink your teeth into.
I can't wait to read the rest of this book!
This preview just wets my appetite for more! I loved aeeing the characters again! The story, what we get of it, is amazing! I want the rest now!
This was such a great snippet of Bloodwitch that just makes me crave more. More Aeduan, yes please! Isolde is just forever my homegirl and their interactions are golde. You just feel the urgency and I am desperatly waiting for the real deal.
This preview was a great way to refresh my memory on the story so far. I have been waiting to learn more about Aeduan's past and I'm so glad this novel is finally here. This short glimpse of Bloodwitch was great and I'm looking forward to reading the entire book when it releases!
So this teaser truly teases! Fans of Dennard have been waiting ages for Aeduan to have his moment, I'm dying for the book.
This is a review for the excerpt I received via Netgalley.
This got me so excited for the release of the book! The constant shifting of POV got a little overwhelming at times, but mostly that was because it’s been a while since I read the last one so I had to try to remember who everyone was. It soon came back to me though! I can’t wait to read the full thing,
I loved this excerpt, I'm new to Susan Dennards books, but this preview was so good thrust me straight into the action and made me want to go and grab all her books. I always love finding new series to read and this sounds like a great series just from this excerpt. Fast paced, great characterisation and wonderful writing. A definite 5 stars.
I have no words to say how amazing this excerpt was!! I truly give it 5 stars, when Susan Dennard says this is her best book in the Witchlands, she's not lying because this was everything I wanted in this book. I felt so good to see these characters I missed and love so much again.
I loved how the book was paced, it wasn't too slow nor fast enough. I really enjoyed the focus on Aedaun and you can really see his growth from book one to now Bloodwitch, he has changed as a character, I'm glad he acknowledges it in this book. One thing I love about these books is that they immediately pick up from where the last one let one, or at least somewhere close to it. For only the first 22 chapters that was included it had a lot of content from the first chapter to the last chapter that was included in this preview. I do have to say with the last chapter, it was so intense that when I reached the last page I tried sliding my phone to the right so fast, but when I realized it was the last page I was shook because I just needed more of Bloodwitch.
Throughout this excerpt I noticed that Susan's writing has changed massively and I'm so proud of that, you really see her growth as a author in this book. I can't wait for more from her in this series, and I cant wait until Bloodwitch comes out!! I absolutely need an arc or the finished copy to continue the adventure. Thank you TorTeen for the chance to review and read this.
Ahhh! This excerpt from Bloodwitch has me begging for more! Come on Susan Dennard.....please please please. Okay okay, I know it’s not her. But alas, I am dying to continue on.
Truthwitch and windwitch were such great stories with so much elemental magic that I can not contain my excitement for the new part to this series.
While I haven’t had a chance to read sightwitch yet, I feel like I need to bump it up on my list in preparation for the new book.
I can't wait to read the rest of this book! Seven chapters is NOT ENOUGH!! I forgot that this was an excerpt and got so upset when I got to the end. I am so invested in the Witchlands series and I can't wait to learn more about Aeduan!! I also love all of the tidbits from Sightwitch coming into play! The world that we are thrust into is incredible and vivid. The characters are so complex... Is it February yet?
Amazing. Excellent. Intriguing. I can't wait to read the full book! Each book in this series gets better and better and I have high hopes for this one!
I got an exclusive preview of Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard, and OH MY GOD! How am I supposed to wait until February 12th?! From the very first page, Bloodwitch swept me off my feet, my heart was racing... If you are a fantasy lover like myself who craves blood, action, and death filled with adventure, this book is for you.
I can't say much because I only read the sample, but I will say I am obsessed with Aeduan!
He is my precious cinnamon roll that needs to be protected at all cost!
I have been mildly skeptical of Dennard's Witchland's series. The first one rated in as just decent but the second one was substantially better, so I was greatly looking forward to this ARC. And...I have mixed feelings about Bloodwitch.
On one hand, Dennard's scattered characters are more or less interesting and most of the time she deftly handles the few events of the story well. Her writing is fun and engaging and my attention was easily kept. As someone who has followed Dennard's writing for awhile now, I certainly notice and appreciate the maturity of her writing style now.
Howrver, I do take issue with the plot. Nothing...really happened. This is such a filler book. It's an even worse Two Towers or Order of the Phoenix. This had no story except to string along Windwitch and the as-yet-untitled 4th book. There was no wrap up, no conclusion. It just ended. I re-downloaded it 4 times from Netgalley, certain that it had glitched, but no. Dennard and her publisher really did choose to just cut off the book in the middle of a scene, wrapping up literally zero plot threads.
I am so glad I didn't pay for this. The quality of the writing and the investment I had from the other books keeps me from giving this fewer stars, but I feel pretty cheated on this one.
I received my free ebook copy of Bloodwitch from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review.
Super quick excerpt, but an amazing lead up to what's in store next! I can't wait for the release of this book, Susan has never disappointed me.
So Baedun is making bad life choices. Poor thing. Doesn't know where to place his loyalties even though the answer is obvious. Iseult. All the way. CAHR AWEN, hi.
Safi's got problems and Habim's got secrets and there's dark magic afoot with Merik and his threadbrother and we please talk about a certain Lizl. Like, is she the same Lizl of Sightwitch? Is it? Because that book did a fabulous job of setting stuff up and the Witchlands books are so twisty.
We need more. We need so much more.
I cannot wait for this book, it seems just as good as the rest of the series if not better!
Thank you for allowing me to read a preview of it, it should tie me over until the release.
Susan Dennard is a fantasy genius!
Absolutely love this series and cannot wait to get my hands on this book. I wish the excerpt was longer!!!
