I am honestly at a loss, at what I should say about this book. The writing was wonderful, the characters flawed. I did not find anything humourous in the story of a group of Newfoundlanders, trying to get by. I was gripped by a sadness, particularly for the women in this story. What I will say, is once I started reading, I was compelled to finish. I cared about some of the characters and wanted others to get their just desserts.
