I bet that after reading this title you may be thinking that this book is just another racy story. Well, I thought the same thing but after reading the summary, decided that it may be worthwhile to read. I was happy to find that this book had a great story and I found it to be absolutely endearing! Like I said, the story was great but the characters were five star! The main character is a librarian who has been in love with her brother’s best friend since she was a kid. The best friend, Adam, is of course a gorgeous hunk who is ex-military and rides a motorcycle. Our main lady, Mel, talks Adam into helping her change her image from the wallflower librarian to a sexy lady. The author really does spin a sweet story that was enjoyable and fun. Four stars for this one but I still say the title does not do the book justice.
How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass is available from Entangled: Bliss, an imprint of Entangled Publishing, LLC. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Well, I tried to get into this one and I just couldn't. The writing was done well, but I felt the story itself was a bit juvenile for me.
Melody is a soon to be 25 year old virgin who decides Adam is going to tarnish her reputation. You know, because he is the resident bad boy even though he joined the military.
Blah!
I didn't even finish the book. The blurb on the back of the book makes this book sound great though. And maybe it is a great book for someone else.
This review was a hard one for a number of reasons, so a 2 1/2 Star Review from me:
1) The title “How to Seduce a Bad Boy” doesn't represent the book. There is no heat in this story, I would title it a “sweet romance/YA story”;
2) Melody is a desperate, nearly 25 year-old virgin, who dresses like someone’s grandmother and thinks that’s OK, and wonders why men aren’t coming back for second dates;
3) While the story is cliché in parts, it is also extremely repetitive throughout, constantly rehashing the same comments and thoughts, over and over again;
4) Adam’s best friend James, is not only Melody’s big brother, but Adam’s business partner; so in this day and age it is incomprehensible that a grown man is prepared to beat his friend and end their business partnership because he is angry about the breaking of the “bro code”;
5) Then you have Adam, willing to walk away from a woman he professes to love and his business, because of her brother’s ridiculous response to their relationship.
These were the main sticking points for me, and while I did finish the book and liked the story once I learnt to push these issues aside, I still felt it was misrepresented as a hot, seduction story, when it was essentially immature and written for a YA audience.
Will I read book two? Probably. Mainly because I want to know what happened 8 years ago between Melody’s brother James and her best friend Lilly. I only hope the author does a better job of their book.
This was a great book. This story follows Melody Bryant, a librarian, who is weeks away from her 25th birthday. Mel is trying desperately to lose her virginity by her birthday for fear that if she doesn't she will die a spinster with cats. She is kind of dorky. She doesn't dress in the latest fashion, she accents her outfits with her grandmother's pearls and she doesn't really try to look appealing. She decides that she wants to change her look and attitude and enlists the help of the boy she loved as a kid and her brother's best friend, Adam. After much dismay, Adam agrees and through the rest of the book we see Mel's transformation. Adam and Mel get closer. I won't reveal anymore as it would ruin it for the reader.
This book was an ARC and although it was not edited, it was very polished with few errors. The author tells a believable story about two people trying to find their way and learning that they are worthy of love. The book was easy to read and I finished it in a few hours. This is the first book I have read by Traci Douglass and I will definitely be looking for more of her work.
This was cute! A little abrupt re the ending but I overall enjoyed! I also want to know Lily and James’s story quite badly!
DNF at 25%.
I love a good trope as much as the next reader but this cliche-ridden romance had nothing to engage me.
Melody Bryant is that cliche, the small-town virgin librarian in love with her brother's BFF, the former military man now running an auto shop, Adam Foster. For his part, Adam knows his friend would never accept him dating the kooky but lovely Melody. When Melody begs Adam to teach her about men and dating he refuses but is conflicted, then her BFF gives her a makeover, puts her in a short dress and pow! Melody is a stunner but all Adam can see is her short skirt.
Yawn, irritation and yawn again. There is honestly nothing new, no new angle, nothing even likable about Melody or Adam, just crudely drawn stock characters and tired storylines.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Melody is the town's librarian and a 25 year-old virgin. Adam is the town's bad boy who's been fighting oversees for the past 8 years ... and he's Melody's older brother's best friend. Adam was asked to watch out for Melody till her brother got back from his tour of duty. But when Melody asks Adam to help her with a makeover so that she can get a man, he may not be able to keep his promise.
This is a sweet older brother's best friend/little sister romance. But I just couldn't connect with the characters and there were absolutely no surprises in the plot. I was good, but I just found it very typical .

How to Seduce a Bad Boy is great in theory, but unfortunately the writing felt armature and I was unable to connect with the characters.
How to Seduce a Bad Boy written by Traci Douglass is a delightful romance between two characters who really deserve to be loved. Bad boy Adam Foster tried to do the right thing when he turned down his best friend's little sister 5 years ago. He gets in over his head when she decides she needs help ramping up her image so she can get a man... only Melody (Mel) Bryant's heart still has it bad for the town's bad boy.
Mel is everything you think of when you imagine a stereotype of a librarian...and everyone in town seems to see her as the typical girl next door. She sets out to change her image and enlists both her best friend and Adam to help her. The romance between Mel and Adam is cute and fun, and this was a terrific lighthearted read Mel's inner dialogue cracks me up, as she is smart and sassy and entertaining!!!
I love the thought of the Vietnam Vet's auto garage with all the assorted Vets and their individual stories. They all drew me in, and Mel's best friend Lilly and her big brother James also have some chemistry and a story to tell. I will definitely be reading more from Traci Douglass as her characters have stories that need to be shared!!!
How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass
This appears to be the first in what I'm hoping is a new series for the author. I've not read hey books before, but you can't go wrong with best friends little sister storylines. Was pleasantly surprised that the book had little quirks for the main characters.
Melody Bryant, who was referred to as Mel thought most of the book is the ultimate in buttoned up librarian. Yet she's looking for changes and to get rid of her pesky v card. What better way than approaching her lifelong crush, Adam Foster. Only problem is Mel is off limits as she's Adams best friends little sister. Cause we all know that's going to stop it! Of course when push comes to shove he had to step in and the barriers fall quickly. Most of the sexy times are implied, so if you're looking for super steamy, this is not the book for you. But if you're looking for a quick read with fairly decent characters, pick it up and get started.
The title doesn't really match the book. The bad boy was Melody's brothers best friend and she goes to him because she is going to be 25 and a virgin and wants him to help gather other guys interest, yes she has always had a crush on him (Adam) and she apparently offered herself to him years ago before he went to Army but he declined and she has been in a slump, she dresses dowdy and is a librarian and guys just do not see her as someone to have a relationship with. So in an act of desperation she asks Adam to help her, she was pathetic and stayed pathetic thru out the book. Adam does not do love he is a playboy and the whole town knows and he has always seen Melody as off limits, but he knows if he doesn't help her she will get another guy and wont be able to protect her, that is his reasoning anyway. As they spend time she wants more, and he does too but doesn't want to lose his bestfriend and the business they have together. He was willing to dump Melody for it, he was also willing to lose his business not to jeopardize it. They end up working everything out, and even though this book was just ok I want to know what happens with Jag and also Melody's brother James, but I hope those guys have a back bone and their love interest are stronger.
I love the 'sister-of-best-friend' trope so I went into this with high hopes. But.. alas.. I thought the book was too slow and not interesting enough for my taste. Melody is a stereotype to me. Librarian, almost 25, dresses like an old lady (she has a hairband!) until she decides to have a total makeover and asks her brother's best friend (who she had a crush on years ago, still has) to help her find a boyfriend.
Somehow the book dragged too much in the first half. Melody goes to a hair dresser and gets new makeup, goes shopping... and Adam just goes with her. He is scared her brother will find out but is falling for Melody (he always liked her but the new hairdo and makeup make it harder to resist, you know).
I wanted to like this book! I did not connect to Melody or Adam at all and everything fell flat. The writing is good, but I wanted something more.
How to Seduce a Bad Boy is a nice friends to lovers/brother’s best friend story. If you like either of these tropes, this one will satisfy your craving. He’s a former vet and ladies man. She’s a librarian and still a virgin. Many years ago, she asked him to help her on the virgin front and he gave a resounding no. Now she’s back home and she’s going all-in one last time. There was affection between the two, but I didn’t really get chemistry. This is maybe because it’s a clean read. At least, I can’t remember there being any actual sex scenes or cursing now that I think about it. Obviously, an author can show great chemistry without sex scenes, this one just doesn’t quite get there. That being said, it is a nice read, just more of the 4 stars variety.
I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I loved this story! Best and one of my favorite tropes, brother's best friend, quiet sister who's got a serious crush, a splash of second chance romance, stir and relish this book!
Meet Melody the quiet librarian who dresses the part who has zero luck in the dating department and when her brother's best friend Adam returns home from his deployment she sees an opportunity to have him teach her how to cut loose and bring out that inner bad girl that she thinks might be in there somewhere. I'm laughing as I write this... it really is a great story. Adam is reluctant of course. The whole best friend/sister thing and Adam really feels he isn't good enough for Mel. While the plot's been done before, I still loved this. The inner dialogue of Mel, the chemistry between Adam and Mel was smoking, well written, a fun, easy read. Add to that Mel's friend Lily who was quite the character and Mel's brother. Fantastic read. Totally 5 stars.

Melody is the epitome of a proper librarian down to the grandmothers pearls. But with her 25th Birthday approaching in a couple of weeks, she needs to change things up and who better than her brothers best friend and her childhood crush, Adam.
Adam though hesitant, gives in first to Melody’s persuasion and later to the attraction they feel.
I enjoyed reading this book. The romance is sweet and cute, the characters are delightfully likable, and the plot engaging.
I look forward to reading more from the author
I started this, and as a librarian I was just not too interested in reading about such a stereotypical portrayal of one, what with the frumpy wardrobe and virginal attitude. I'm sure this book will have its readers, it just wasn't for me!
Fast-paced romance with just hints at naughty parts (nothing explicit). It was a good read; fast, entertaining, engaging. The characters were endearing and you get to know both with the dual-like POV. I wish the author had gone a little bit more into the backstory, especially with Adam. We keep hear how he's the town bad boy and he isn't good enough for Mel and blah blah, but we never really know more than that. Why is he a bad boy? What did he do? Smoke out back by the graveyard at 11pm at night? I don't know. That's the problem. I felt like that was the last missing thing to really punch in how great of a story it is.
Is the story a little predictable? Yes. Should you expect that going into the book? Duh. That's not really a reason to A) not read a book nor B) downgrade a book. Know the genre you're getting into. Given the huge inner monologues and delving deep into their inner feelings, I would say this novel is straight up Women's Fiction. Technically, it's about a 24 year old, but the style doesn't really feel New Adult to me. BUT it's an excellently done Women's Fiction novel about a 24 year old. I would definitely pass this along to a girlfriend to read.
I love a friends-to-lovers storyline and How to Seduce a Bad Boy definitely fits that genre!
How to Seduce a Bad Boy is charming and sexy. Although there wasn't anything super different about it than other books in this genre, it was still a fun read. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Adam and Melody. The only thing that bothered me about the book was that it was (or seemed) super short.
It took me a while to get into the book, but it was a cute romance read. Even though you hear from both perspectives, I feel like I didn’t get to know Adam as weel as I got to know Mel. I enjoyed her journey of finding confidence and going after what she wanted. Also, all the hints dropped about her best friend, Lily, and her brother, James, made me want to know their history as well (I’m assuming their story will be the next book). Overall, this was a very plot driven story, and I would have like to get a little more back story on both characters, their families, and their friends.
This was a disappointing read with lots of predictable behavior and unreliable characters. First of all I was embarrassed for the heroine. She practically threw herself at the hero with little concern of her self worth. She expects the hero to make her desirable by helping her change her physical appearance and teach her to love herself. How can a guy possibly do this? He's a dude!! But with a few change of clothes and a new hairdo all of a sudden she's drop dead gorgeous and he can't get enough of her. So unrealistic and out of character since he spends half the novel saying she's like a sister to him and does his best to avoid her.
