Bring down the Stars has a really beautiful cover. That and the synopsis made me request this book. I faced a little difficulty with the downloading process but that's besides the point.
The point is this book is alright for me. It's nothing extraordinary and I'm not a big fan of love triangles, i think it's just complicating. And also the main characters aren't that likable and it's more lust than love. Anyways the story was ok. I don't know how it's going to play out in the 2nd book.
The cover is what drew in my attention to this book. They synopsis peaked my interest. I usually stay away from love triangle books. It’s been a while since I read one. So I just jumped head first into this book.
Oh boy... where do I even begin.
Conner and Autumn’s first date should’ve been a big red flag. They were night and day. All she saw was his looks. It felt so wrong.
Then add all that text messages and phone call. I was just so disgusted by what Conner was doing and Weston never truly putting his foot down with Conner. And just doing what Conner asked. It was so wrong.
This went on for so long. It was well past the point of no return. It was kinda ridiculous! And I was having a hard time seeing how Weston and Autumn could ever be together. Every time Conner and Autumn would have sex. It just drove a big nail in the coffin for Weston.
I mean... how can you move past being with your best friend girl?! It was all to messed up. Their families were close. All I kept thinking was how can Weston ever bring Autumn around. You can’t! How awkward would that be!
The ending was horrible. Once again I felt Conner was only thinking of himself. And other people were going to have to live with the consequences.
I'm wondering how everything is going to play out in the second book.

I need book two immediately. This was so spectacular. Emma Scott is an amazing writer. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc of Bring Down the Stars in exchange for an honest review.
This books starts as a modern day Cyrano de Bergerac but turns into so much more.
Weston Turner has a burden to carry which weighs down his heart. Thankfully the friendship, and support from his best friend Connor and his family helps carry him through. Wes is not one to take handouts which creates more burdens that he feels like he owes Connor's family everything.
"Maybe pain exists to make us appreciate the beauty."
So when Wes and Connor have the crush on the same girl he let's Connor win, but Connor needs Wes's help to make this happen. This is where the Cyrano de Bergarc story line comes into play.
"Parfois, le coeur se cache derrière l'esprirt."
As Autumn gets to fall for Connor in person she truly falls for his words. But real life Connor and paper Connor aren't the same person.
~ My heart ached as pieces of Weston Turner clicked into place for me. Not an asshole, but an abandoned, bewildered kid, grown into a man, chasing that car, always. ~
The more Autumn falls for Connor the more it breaks Wes. Connor has his own issues with the demands and expectations of his family. So when he signs up for the army, Wes has his back with both leaving Autumn behind.
Now truly my favorite part is . . . Professor Ondiwuje.
" . . . A writer who chooses an economics major. A runner who ignores his gift. A poet's heart now encased in a warrior's armor."
We all need a champion like this in our corner. Professor Ondiwuje was written so brilliantly and he was such a key part of this book.
I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to see how it all plays out in book #2.
This story has completely ripped my heart. This is a slow burn love triangle filled with angst, deceit, and love both selfish and pure. Weston's selfless love for Connor and Autumn is so frustratingly beautiful and sad that my heart ached for him. While Weston, Connor and Autumn are all struggling with family pressures, lost loves, and heartbreak, Weston's pain had the power to reach me through the pages. This is a cliffhanger story worth taking a chance on.
Bring Down the Stars is the first novel I have read by miss Emma Scott and it won’t be my last. This book is nothing short of heartbreaking and breathtaking. As soon as I entered this world I knew what was going to happen. The storytelling is some of the best I’ve read. The way the words seemed to encase you and jump off the page from the very first paragraph till the very end.
It is unforgettable. We’ve all been here at some time or another. Unrequited love and a deep friendship that makes you feel what the character is feeling. It’s an evocative tale that will surely rest in a place that exists inside each of us. Our heart beats, sending our blood throughout our body. That alone should be enough to remember that the heart is resilient. It can be broken, but it will mend.
Each character is a tale unto themselves. They spin the story just as much as the h and H do. I’ve never read a love triangle quite like this one. You think, how can something as crazy as that have a selfless unconditional love and loyalty? Things left unsaid and emotions sometimes hid and laced with respect, honor and longing. It couldn’t be anything but complicated with its little white lies and good intentions. But you know those go bad as well.
I’ll be honest and say this isn’t exactly what I expected but it became more than I hoped for. The book is a haven for brutal heartache, while being deeply sensual and impressive. Be prepared with tissues. And be prepared to WANT to know what happens next. And be prepared for the unexpected.
I am ready to know what becomes of Connor, Autumn and Weston.
But the question is are you? I DO recommend this book and next one. I received the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publisher.
Bring Down the Stars is a romance drama story. It's a love triangle involving two men who are best friends like brothers, and one woman who they both fall for. How can this possibly end well? Prepare yourself before reading. That's all I'm going to say. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Bring Down the Stars by Emma Scott is the front end of a very good duology. After loving "In Harmony," I was excited to dive back into another Scott book.
BDtS follows the intertwining lives of three college students: Connor, Weston and Autumn. Connor and Weston are long time best friends, from very different sides of the track, attending college together. And then comes Autumn, who connects with both happy and outgoing Connor, as well as serious and snarky Wes. Ultimately, she ends up dating Connor, but still feels a pull toward Wes, who are both keeping a very big secret from Autumn.
I absolutely love a good love triangle, which is exactly we have in this series. However, it's very clear Scott has tried to make it somewhat unique and not make it clear exactly what will happen.
I also would advise that this book ends on a fairly significant cliffhanger. Luckily, Book Two is readily available, but I promise you will want to have it ready to go immediately after you finish BDtS.
Overall, it was a very solid book from Scott.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to.
Oh my heart! What a story! Autumn is with Connor who gets everything he wants. Weston has been helping Connor out which has carried over in the relationship between Connor & Autumn. Autumn then becomes torn between the men. I couldn't put the book down & can't wait to start the next book.
Two best friends + one naive girl = tons of heartachingly beautiful moments
Wow! Seriously... WOW!! It's been a long time since I've been shocked into silence. It took me awhile to figure out how to put my thoughts and feelings into words. This story was heartbreakingly stunning and although I hate love triangles, Emma Scott made me a fan (at least for this duet).
I went into this story completely blind. I didn't read the blurb. I didn't read reviews. I just knew that this author had come highly recommended and I took the leap. No regrets! I immediately thought of Cyrano and found it funny that when I finally looked at the blurb, that was exactly this author's intention. Well done, madame. Bellissima!
Connor saw her first. Weston spoke to her first. Autumn saw Connor first and liked what she saw. With Wes, she could be her true self, but she fell in love with words on paper. One best friend helping another, because that's what best friends do, turns into a lot of pain and confusion and eventually unrequited love. So what happens when love blossoms despite it all?
It's incredibly hard to pick a favorite hero when I love them both. Okay, yeah, Weston obviously eked out a bit more affection from me, but that's because the boy was a broody, moody, broken babe. My heart always opens up wide for the tortured hero. Here's this guy who is always looking out for others. He wants to ensure everyone's happiness without taking his own into consideration. And so he always loses out. ALWAYS! And it broke my heart 😢
I wasn't fully prepared for the cliffhanger and I'm hoping this story doesn't end the way most love triangles do. I hope there's still room for character growth and a swoon-worthy journey to happily ever after. I'm putting a lot of trust in this new-to-me author's writing, but with what I've read so far, I'm not wrong to do so.
4.5 For you , I would Stars
What in the beautiful love triangle is this masterpiece! This story is about Conner who is filled with money and empty of love and Wes who is empty of emotion and love but trying desperately to find love and these two boys fall in love with the same girl name Autumn.

I have love you with both
Hands tied behind my back
Bound with pen and ink
Paper and words
Sealed with someone elses name
This book is also FILLED WITH ANGST, friendship, love, loss, and dare I say it .. true love?
Being in the military I tend to HATE military books because of how unrealistic they are. However, this one was fairly believable there were some obvious huge missteps if you are in the military but for the average reader it was beautiful..
Bring down the stars… bring on the tears.. because this book may just wreck you
I blame WAR.. her review made me want to read this book and I did and damnit I enjoyed every damn word
A love triangle. Angst.emotional turmoil.
This was a very easy read, typical love triangle between s woman and the quiet nice guy and the unlikely candidate
It's a difficult endeavor for a book to feature a love triangle so heavily and still capture my interest. Connor and Weston aren't just friends, they are brothers who have protected each other from family, bullies, and the outside world since middle school. Autumn captures Weston has spent his life with Connor trying to repay the debt of being his friend so when both boys meet Autumn on the same day Weston steps aside and helps Connor get her. Autumn doesn't know she's falling in love with Weston's words, not Connor's.
The cliff hanger in this first book is insane, but it was so well built and didn't feel too abrupt. There were some parts that felt very repetitive as Autumn struggles between Connor's romance and the spark between her and Weston, but overall the story was well paced. I also found some of the drama surrounding Weston's father leaving him to be a dead horse, but it was a incredibly important part of his character so I understand the need to mention it a lot.
The Beautiful Hearts series is a beautiful, gut-wrenching duology. It's an addictive page-turner from start to finish. It's hard to rate book 1 separate from book 2; I read them both in one day. Emma Scott's writing is as gorgeous as ever, her characterization spot on. It may be inspired by Cyrano, but it is so much more than its initial inspiration.
Wow. This book tore me to shreds. This book is so emotional and heart felt, it is beyond words. I have never read a book so hardcore, when it comes to unrequited love. To the kind of love that is so real, that it bleeds angst like you could not imagine. It is a unconventional love triangle that grabs a hold of you, and doesn't let you leave. THIS BOOK IS LOVE, and what all it entails. It doesn't matter if it is a relationship or friendship, this book shows you. This authors writing is absolutely astounding. The way she weaves every little detail in, details you wouldn't think that matters, that do, This book I felt to the depths of my soul, and now I am dying to get my hands on the second part of this duet. I do not want to write too much because this heartfelt book deserves to be in your hands, to have your eyes reading over every single page. Trust me when I say, to bring the tissues.
Wes is not your typical Hero. His childhood is one that has left a mark, that he can't seem to forget. He finds solace in words, either writing or reading them. His emotions run high, and to bury them, he runs. He has the best friend a gut could ask for.
Connor is in a league all by himself. He grew up with the best parents, and an education most people dream of. He enjoys the simple things in life, sports, booze etc. Even with his wealth, he is still as humble as they come.
Autumn is a farm girl from Nebraska. She works for the things she has, and her studies is where her mind stays. She is a romantic at heart, and wants what every girl wants, a man that loves her, truly loves her.
This profound story is one, that I am so glad I took a chance on. I know the words I am putting down are kind of all over the place, but that is what this book has done to me. I have to get my hands on the next one.
I recommend this book.
“Bring Down the Stars” centers on a young love triangle which felt a bit too juvenile for me and sometimes unrealistic. Other readers might enjoy the drama, the lies and deceit but it felt a bit far-fetched to sustain the whole plot of the story.
I was more touched by Weston and Connor’s friendship than by the love triangle. Still, I thought their friendship was often toxic and the two families’ relationship weird.
I felt no connection to the heroine, Autumn.
There is a lot of drama – not my favorite option in romance novel – and the somehow abrupt enlistment in the end, anticipating Book 2, “Long Live the Beautiful Hearts”, more enjoyable than this one.
I am a super fan of Emma Scott! Her writing is always amazingly heartbreaking and beautiful sweet! Her books are some of my all time favorite books!
A love triangle between best friends is heartbreaking because only one can get the girl while the other has to suffer a massive heartbreak.
I was so very thankful that I had book two already when I was done, because I needed to get over that ending in Bring Down The Stars. Emma writes people that you truly fall in love with, you think about them after the last word of her amazing books!
I say Run don't walk to your kindle and ONE Click Bring Down the Stars.....Also one click Long Live the Beautiful Hearts you will want to read the moment you are done this one!
I was having a hard time rating this book because even if this contains angst in it, I didn't feel much from it. Maybe because I knew from the start who Autumn will probably end up with although I still kept my hopes up for more angst.
What bothered me the most are the inner monologues. And there were lots of them, to the point that some came out too cheesy for me. Especially coming from a guy. I'm not saying guys shouldn't be sentimental and all but too much of it just sounded cheesy for me. Why not just speak up and be done with it?
Nonetheless, I still find myself flipping pages after pages eager to know what'll happen next.
I just hope that this was written in a 3 person POV just so I also get to know how the other person is thinking.
The ending did end in a heart stopping moment so it is highly advised if you already had the second book on hand.
This is the first book of a duet and should be read in order.
I love all of Emma Scott’s books! They are just so good, just the way she writes. Truly beautiful
This story kept me captivated from start to finish. Now on to the sequel!!
