What a gripping and poetic read of two best friends and a girl. A compelling story that puts you through a gamut of emotions. Definitely an angsty read that pulls at your heartstrings and leaves you dying for more. A must read.
Wow!! Just wow. I am not sure I even have words right now. This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and just amazing. Can’t say I’m surprised though because this is Emma Scott we are talking about. This woman knows how to bring out the emotions and boy did she. This is a love triangle but honestly, one that is unlike any that I have read before. But there is so much more to this book than that. A beautiful girl who has a different connection to two guys. But also a story about a deep rooted friendship between the two men as well.
Conner and Wes met in prep school when Conner saved Wes from all the ridicule he received from other students. From that moment they were best friends and always together. They both made up for what the other lacked. Conner was friendly and outgoing and everyone loved him. Wes is the complete opposite, he is brooding and intense and has a huge chip on his shoulder. He seems angry at the world, never letting anyone in. He has his guard up and while Conner knows him better than anyone not even he can completely break down his walls. Until Autumn Caldwell comes along and changes everything, for the both of them.
The blurb tells you all you need to know about the love triangle itself so instead of going into any more detail about the story itself, I would rather talk about my love for the characters, the writing and the story itself. I loved both Conner and Wes but they are so different and therefor my love for them was also different. Conner came off very cocky at first and I was not sure how I would feel bout him. I think it had to do with how he was with Autumn in the beginning not really knowing how to act. She was different, she challenged him in ways other girls didn't. So for me I wasn't so sue about him. He needed Wes just as much as Wes needed him. But to me it seemed that his need for Conner was at times selfish and that just made me less likely to fall in love with him. But seeing how he grew up, the amount of pressure his parents put on him to be the man the wanted him to be and not truly who he was, it began to make sense. There is so much more to him then money, you just need a little more time to see it. I felt for him for many reasons and I loved him, even if I didn't always approve with his actions.
Weston on the other hand had my complete heart from the beginning. I swear I wanted to just cry for him so many times. Things weren’t easy for him and while others thought of him as the douchebag who was grumpy and non social, I saw so much more to him. He has a huge heart and puts so many people before himself. He lives to protect and love those closest to him. While Conner seemed selfish at times, Wes was the complete opposite. His selfless acts is what would ultimately tae away the happiness that he longed for but felt unworthy of. There are not enough words to express my feelings for him. His character just touched me in so many ways.
Autumn is that type of heroine that you cannot help but love. She is sweet, kind, smart, beautiful and has so much love to give. She too is guarded from a past relationship but she has learned from it. She knows what she wants and what touches her the most. She is strong and I just adored her.
Emma Scott, you put my heart through the wringer with this one, all though it's not the first time. This book brought out so many emotions. The love, the pain, the heartache, but also the happiness. The friendship between Conner and Wes was absolutely beautiful to see. I swear if you could put them together they would be the perfect person. They balanced each other out, had each other’s backs no matter what. They were always there for each other no matter what it may cost the other. Their friendship or should I really say brotherhood was so real that I felt deep in my soul what they had. And despite what I said about my feelings for Conner, both of them wee really good men who cared so much for each other. I think they just had their own issues that they may not have handled in the right way.
I wish is could say much more about this book but I truly do not want to give anything away. My heart was caught in my throat more than once. I adored the characters and the relationships they had. The words written were flawless and done in such beautiful way. I felt every single emotion from the characters. And the end!!! My God I’m not sure how to handle it. Going in I knew this was a duet so I expected the end to leave me hanging, but My God I was not prepared for that. This is one of those books that will give you a hangover for days and stay with you forever. I need book two now!!
DNF - I did not finish this book and will not be reviewing it. I just couldn’t get attached to the book.
Bringing Down the Stars

Bring Down the Stars just was absolutely heart stopping. Emma Scott's writing is nothing short of brilliant. Her storytelling is beyond incredible. This beautiful, well written emotional story of unrequited love and friendship is one of the most moving, storylines I've read. I never wanted it to end.
These characters, are so special. so unbelievably beautiful. There's a love triangle here on these pages but it's unlike any I've ever read before. These characters are full of selfless love and loyalty. So much respect and honor. It's full of unsaid things and beautiful moments in time. It's a complicated tangle of good intentions and white lies.
This storyline, these characters, have completely eclipsed everything else I planned to do and read next. I see nothing else but what might come for Weston, Connor and Autumn. I need more.
I have become a huge fan of this author. She writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines that are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic. I’m looking forward to the second book in this series.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
Life long friends fall for the same girl. One gets the girl, the other loves her from afar.
I knew this book was going to wreck me, because there is nothing more painful than unrequited love. My heart ached for Weston. The connection between him and Autumn was so obvious and instant, yet she's with Connor - he who gets everything.
And do you know what made it even more painful? The whole Cyrano thing mentioned in the synopsis. Weston had been writing papers and completing assignments for Connor for a decade, and therefore, was not surprised when Connor asked him for help writing letters and texts to Autumn. Part of me struggled with how Weston could do this, but when he talked about how much he loved Connor, how he was more than a brother to him, and how he wanted Connor to be happy, I could sort of see where he was coming from. But still! It was hard to sit by and watch him give away pieces of his heart, without Autumn knowing they were his.
Just when I thought my heart was flat out crushed, we visit the frontlines with the boys. Let me tell you, it was brutal, and the ending! There aren't enough crying emojis to express the agony I am feeling right now.
This story was a whole lot of things. It was a story of connection, of finding your people, of finding your passion, of finding the one you love. It was about friendship and family and the sacrifices you make for those who mean the most to you. I have tears in my eyes as I write this review, but I found solace in the fact, that I am starting the next book as soon as I finish this review.
I absolutely loved this story and I devoured this book in one sitting. This author has a way of writing stories that I truly find hard to stop once I've started and her stories always leave me wanting more. This book has one hell of a cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next story. This is one of friendship, chemistry, love and pain, and I absolutely loved the characters in this story. I have no doubt that readers will love Weston and Connor as much as I have and I even enjoyed Autumn and her friend Ruby. No one is perfect and I love that neither are these characters, every one of them have their own battles in life. This story does not disappoint when it comes to FEELS and this is one book I will be recommending to my romance loving friends.
Loved, loved, loved this book. Never expected the story line to go where it did. Thought I knew exactly where it was going and BAM, Emma Scott threw in a doozy. So glad I have book two Long Live the Beautiful Hearts, because with the ending of book one your left on the edge of your seat.
This was my first Emma Scott book and it wont be the last. I absolutely loved this story. It draws you in and you just cant stop reading. The way she mixes poetry in with her writing is breathtaking. I fell in love with Weston immediately. He is scarred from his past but he doesnt let it stop him from running for something better. He gets a bad rep from people who dont truly know him and they couldn't be more wrong about him. He goes to all extremes for the ones he love. Autumn was a very likeable character too. She was kind of dumb at times for not figuring things out with Weston and Conner but guess its not her fault. This story was amazing though. I am about to start book 2 immediately because the ending is a crazy one that leaves you wondering and praying for characters. It's a must read though.
Ugh so many feels. I had no clue what this book was about. If Emma freaking Scott wrote it, then I’m reading it. I like to go into her stories blind because she makes me feel...things. Blech! I almost had some liquid coming out of my eye holes. Stupid feelings. Cheese and rice this book. I started it in the wee hours of the morning because I couldn’t sleep. Big mistake! I pulled an all nighter and I’m so glad I waited for the second book cause I’m diving right in. Adulting? Uh, who cares right now. Pants? Hell no, I’ve got a second book finish, Linda! Byeeee. I’m going in.
Wow! I need book 2... Seriously need to know how it all turns out between them all... It's killing me not knowing!! Love this book from start to finish..
I am not keen on love triangles.
Two young men meet a girl at the same time that they both like but one steps back to let his friend claim the girl.
There are lots of secrets.
One man is in a relationship with the heroine while his best friend is in love with her, it's a complicated storyline, it's well written but I'm not keen on this situation.
The way money is thrown around to help the heroine out seemed a bit unrealistic to me even though the family of the man are wealthy.
