Beautiful book and absolutely wonderful aesthetics. Great way to gain inspiration for when renovating one's house or self-designing. It was so pleasing to read and a great coffee table book.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this colorful book.
This book was a riot of color! It was full of helpful suggestions for combining and using color to express oneself. It was applicable to not only interior designers but also others such as quilters and fiber artists.
The photography was excellent and there was enough of it. It certainly helped to illustrate the creative juxtaposition of colors, clearly.
This book would be a useful addition to the library shelf of anyone that works with color.
This is a gorgeous book full of color inspiration in all palettes. I really enjoyed the fact that the color inspiration is decidedly international and has an old world aesthetic, instead of the cookie-cutter home decors in so many decorating books. There are really saturated colors here, with lots of photos of vividly painted villages, weathered walls, textiles, and other color scheme ideas besides the standard pretentious living room or BH&G magazine kitchen. The author also uses clothing, nature and other elements for color inspiration, which really appealed to me. I liked her idea of gathering colorful items in colors that we love and then putting them together to decide on color schemes. I also liked the focus on using different textures and materials to manipulate color.
There are some colors that I generally really don't like, but I found myself liking them in some of the examples in this book. There were many that I really didn't like, but I take that as a good sign because it shows what a range of styles and tastes are represented.
At $35, I think the retail price for this book is a little high. I'd recommend getting it from the library first and purchasing it if it's a good fit.
I viewed a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
Each color gets its own chapter. The photos of the interiors are rich and vibrant.
There are a lot of inspiring photos here. I found the pages on shadows within a room to be the most unique from other books on interior design I have read. Good stuff.

This gorgeous book by a color expert gives you lots of excellent ideas for choosing color schemes. I appreciated that the author urges readers to start with items of sentimental significance in creating color design choices. Many palettes are featured in the book, with tips on contrasting colors, working with textures, and use of lighting. The author does a great job of bolstering readers’ confidence in making bolder uses of color and incorporating colors that simply put them in a good mood.
I've always been a bit boring when it comes to decorating. I use some color, but tend toward more neutral and functional rather than going for pretty your exciting. This book covers all things color, from figuring out the colors that speak to you to assume pops of color to using color to give a room the feel you want. The photographs throughout offer ample inspiration for adding color to your own home.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Ivy Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
What a gorgeous book! I feel like I've been on a mini vacation just looking at the beautiful (and of course colorful) photos. The layout is clean and crisp and the information is informative and accessible. I highly recommend it.
I love this book, it is so fabulous - the colour are so glorious and just so "got to have".
We have been living in our newly moved in house for a year - with white walls, ceiling, doors - in fact everything white.
I have been itching to get my hands on a paint brush, but was unsure on what or how to start.. Now I want it all, at the turn of each page - I just fall in love, and it happened over and over again.
This is a beautiful challenging book, which give you the incentive to be yourself, to use colour that makes you feel good - even if its white - but to use it with feeling.
Even if you don't want to go completely with the walls, some of those wonderful effects can certainly creep in as burst of colour in accessories to light the spirit and challenge the mind.
Love this book.
This is a gorgeous book. I love how each chapter is organised by colour So it's easy to find ideas. I'm the person who has a completely white house furniture walls etc but I love to add colour by using vibrant coloured cushions bedding and paintings. I must say this book is such a joy to read and look through and you will definitely be left wanting to change something in your home!
When we bought our home, the previous owners had painted everything white. It was the most boring interior you have ever seen. So, we set out to paint each room a different color. It is not as easy as it may seem, and a lot of the paint sites are very staid and don't take many chances when they recommend color choices.
This book, this amazing book, goes through all the colors of the rainbow, and suggest colors that will work with each major group. And then shows the colors in action, and pints out what colors are represented in each of the rooms that it portrays.
It was hard to choose which pictures to show, to represent all this vibrant color. The rooms go from rustic, to contemporary, to out of this world. The examples are well thought out and quite stunning.

I would recommend this book for the casual and dedicated DYI workers, who is trying to get the ook they want, without having to try every color in the rainbow.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
I absolutely love the exquisite photographs in this book. That was the highlight for me. I don’t think the art of color and material selection is captured and explained adequately for the average person. That was a drawback for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
While there are tons of illustrations to inspire the reader, ultimately this book fails in the same way most books on color for the home fail -- it's just too vague for a homeowner who does not understand color.
Because my mother, grandmother, and I are all artists, albeit in different media, color and understanding it is a way of life for me. But it isn't for most people.
This book is better than most because for many pictures it puts together a color palette, showing swatches of color in proportion to their use. But if you have no idea where to star, these can only help some.
What's needed is a basic formula. This way the homeowner can take givens (flooring, woodwork, major furniture) and go from there to find a color scheme that works.
instead what we get is vagueness, short introductions to colors that rival horoscopes in their universal applicability, an introductory section that talks about aspects of color and your home but doesn't tell me really what they mean.
To take one example for an early color chapter. It's a middle eastern exterior corner that has two shades of intense blue, one with flaking paint and a stunning deep green door. It's lovely, it would make a great room scheme. But which blue should be the wall color? Could I have a deep green sofa. Would an orange chair be too much orange? It would be so lovely to see some of these inspirational pictures turned into rooms, even just s drawing and the translations explained.
After looking at this book and so many others that are even worse no wonder folks settle for white walls a nd beige carpets.
A gorgeous book a delight for the eyes all these beautiful colors to dream about.Ideas on how to select and blend them into your life your decorating, I will be reading this book again and again for ideas and just to enjoy the beautiful pictures the wonderful colors,#netgalley #the #Quarto publishers

They in fact reflect our character.

The author suggests of buying several magazines for a lot of advice; and using, let me add, this book wisely, adding some imagination, you will create the best palettes of colors for your house and your life, for experiencing in every corner of your house a special place where to find a spark of you.
Highly recommended also if you love special books, interiors, houses.
I thank NetGalley and Quarto for this eBook.
A beautiful book full of ideas. I could sit and look at this book for hours time and time again. It is beautifully put together with great ideas and stunning photographs. This is an insightful and interesting book.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
I really enjoyed Love COlor. Anna Starmer begins teh book with basic ideas you ne4ed to truly decorate your home. Starmer explains how to use color to create a mood specific emotion throughout your house. The rest of the book is spent on the colors themselves. The author shows you beautiful photos along with teh color scheme so you can visualize what the scheme truly is. As read, I started to see that most of teh color schemes I create intuitively but I got great pointers on how to really make these schemes pop with texture and prints. My favorite color section was orange. I loved how these ideas didn't make the house look like Halloween and used beautiful color combinations for arresting homes. My least favorite section was purple. It seemed like there was less work with purple especially the darker colors not as accents. Overall, this is a beautiful book that will help you become your own interior designer using the entire palate of colors!
A fascinating book about colours and how to use it.
I was enthralled by the wonderful pictures, the colours and find the text engaging and full of useful ideas.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Quarto Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC
