this was just okay for me, it didn't have the same kind of thing I love in PNR - it was a bit too much TSTL in the FMC at times for me.

Probably shouldn't have started with this one, cause I was obviously missing a ton of background info on the world and characters, but I enjoyed it :) The characters were entertaining and it was witty and charming.

This book is part of a series and whilst it can be read as a stanadlone , I would recommend reading the previous books to set the characters and worldbuilding in place .

Patience Roberts , the last Summoner , could do with some downtime , perhaps to explore her romance with Faust , a shadownspawn faerie - but with the vampires, hunters, demons etc. on her case downtime is just a wish .
When an old Demon punches through the barrier between realms she must try her utmost to "temporarily" banish him ...... to banish him totally will take too much of her soul ................ nothing of any consequence would be left .
This book is very fast paced , full of twists and turns - with characters that you can invest in - never too bad nor too good ............. but far , far too short .

I was given an arc of the book by the Publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

"Fire in the Blood" was a bit too fast pace for me at times. The plots seems to move at a lightening speed to get to the end of an already rather short story. I wish it could have been a bit longer but the story overall was interesting. It's definitely a worthwhile read as part of the series.

Patience Roberts is the last summoner standing between magiciankind and certain demon invasion. After banishing two or three demons a day for too long, gods know she’d like nothing better than a little down time with her number one distraction—Faust. But with vampires, hunters and assassins lined up to take her out, who has the time? Still, she has to admit her resistance to the amorous faerie is wearing thin. Not that she’ll ever let on—after all, faeries are notorious for their short romantic attention spans. Faust, a Shadowspawn faerie, watched as his outcast clan dwindled to nothing. Determined to hold on to the woman he loves, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect Patience. And one day build a life with her. When an old demon enemy punches through the barrier between the worlds, Patience must draw on every ounce of her reputation as a cast-iron bitch to temporarily banish him. To get rid of him for good, she’ll have to sacrifice one too many pieces of her soul to leave room for love…
This was a pretty interesting read. I didn’t realize that it was a novella and the 4th in a series. Because of that I was a little confused but I still enjoyed my introduction to Patience and her assistant Harvey as well as Faust. I do intend to go back and read the rest of the series. I recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is definitely a paranormal romance. I do love paranormal reads. This one had a very strong main character. Had a very strong attitude at times as well. But this had a mix of demon and fae. I do recommend it for those of paranormal books.

Now, I did read this with out reading the first 2 books in the series. I did stand very well on its own but I am sure there were things I did not get based on the fact I had not read the first 2 books.

The third in a series, Fire in the Blood can be enjoyed as a standalone. However, it would be beneficial to read the first two. There comes a certain knowledge and understanding that adds to the pleasure of the story.

That being said it’s a pretty good paranormal read. The female lead is snarky and humorous in a journey that demons, fae, and magickind alike. Though the female lead is described as being a bitch, the reader expects her be stronger than she is. Instead, she is a bit flaky with a love interest, who by all accounts should be badder than he is.

The story has a sold plot and the leads have great chemistry. Enjoyable for fans of the paranormal romance genre.

Super fast pace - good grief, Patience can TALK.

The author pegs Chicago accurately and moves the characters at a blurred pace to find the good and bad guys before it's too late.

Fast paced adventure. Patience is a character that isn’t really the good guy, but neither is she the bad guy. She has been on the wrong side of the law before but it nor even more for bending the rules than anything. After helping the Tatiana and Oberon out, she has an angry necromancer and assassins after her, not to mention an an ancient demon.
