I think this would make a good gift. It was useful to be able to dip into it, and did have some insightful ideas.
I didn't particularly enjoy this book, as I found most of it to be common sense. Admittedly part of the joy of this book was removed by having the eBook version, as a hardcover copy of the book would be much more enjoyable, given that there are places in this book to write down your thoughts and feelings. I did not feel that this book offered anything above and beyond, and feel it is a little overhyped.
The rating for this book is based on the content and not the format.
For this in paperback version is amazing and in fact I couldn't wait to go out and buy the paperback copy to actually use. There is space for each day of the year to record your reflection and feelings for the day. You can freewrite or jot down things your grateful for if you like - there's no set layout and structure to it.
I've read Fearne's book "Happy" so the journal made sense to me but equally you can use the journal without even reading her book (but I highly recommend that you do read it!).
I have so much love for Fearne and her use of her celebrity status to bring true awareness and tools to help support people with mental health. I love her honestly and the inspirational quotes throughout this book.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
The formatting was a little bit off in this journal, but I really liked the idea of prompts to write on every other day of the year and the motivational sections at the start of each month as well as thanking the month at the end of it.
what a great companion to the Happy book
beautifully laid out with thpugh provoking questions to journal about daily.
highly recommend this as i think fearne cottons books are so relatable
I received this book as an ARC from Dover Publications in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was excited to read this book because it reflected implementation of positive and happy thoughts in your everyday life. I also love that there is a positive quote after everyday of the week to get your mind set on a positive outlook right before you journal. Also I love how the pages were designed with bright pastel colors. It reminds you of a bright beautiful sunny day and there is nothing more positive than that.
We will consider adding this book to our Self-Help section at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Honest and in-depth advice for reaching your full potential. This advice is presented in easy to follow language that can be broken up and applied in pieces at a time.
This is absolutely lovely and I'll be purchasing a copy immediately! Thoughtful, colourful, and reassuring, the daily prompts are wonderful and really help combat the stress of not knowing what to journal about - I'm always told how good it is for the soul, but never know what to write about!
Simply gorgeous.
What a little gem! I love the idea of journaling but I struggle with knowing where to start. Happy: The Journal is a guided daily journal with thoughtful prompts to get you writing, reflecting and planning.
I immediately ordered a hard copy of this journal so I could get started. It starts in January and leads you through the year with timely journaling prompts that have a great balance between gratitude, reflection and goal setting. There is an adequate amount of space to write without it feeling overwhelming. This is a great guided journal for someone who wants to get started with daily journaling and I highly recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and Dover Publishing for this copy, all opinions are my own.
I'm really excited to start this! Yes, I haven't started it yet. So why is it marked as "Finished", you ask? Well, because I've read the preface and feel I've skimmed the journal enough to feel I have a good enough grasp on it to rate it.
You see, this is an actual journal. It starts on January 1st and has entries for everyday of the year. Entries have writing, drawing, or idea prompts such as "Recall a moment that was full to the brim of pure love. I love reminiscing about good times drenched in love. Happiness floods in." (February 11) or "Create something today. It can be a drawing, a story or an idea in your head for something new. Get creative, and feel the flow." (September 5).
This seems like a really nice way to reassess and take stock of yourself throughout the year. Like I said, I'm really excited to start on January 1st and see how it goes. It looks really promising.
So think of this review as more of an initial reaction. At the end of 2019, I plan on doing an updated review with my final thoughts.
