Alex Porter may be the sleeper character of the reading year from me. Alex and his old friend Joe will hook you in to lave, danger and all the rest as this is a well written mystery. I may go back for #1 and sure hope #3 maintains this edge. Very well done!!

This book builds on real current events to produce a thriller that is full of suspense and danger. Alex has moved to Tucson Arizona and applied for his license as a private investigator. When he goes to help an old friend of Joe, his lawyer buddy, he is drawn into a web of evil and deception that generates from the highest level of Government. The action continues page after page, and there are a few surprises along the way. Alex is much more mature and confident in this book and it leads him to a new love interest and relationships with members of the police force. This is one of those books where the reader can figure things out and then has to hope the investigator can gain the knowledge. The descriptions of the area, the military protocols and the techniques are detailed and very exact. The book is educational as well as tantalizing. You can't stop reading it.

Great book, I had no idea it was in a series as it was easily read and understood as a stand alone. Book cover gives adequate 'reporting of plot" so no spoilers for me. I read it on a cloudy afternoon as it was hard to put the book down. I give it 4.5 stars because I was not a great fan of the ending or lack of a satisfying one. Otherwise, it would have been a 5. Obviously the author has a lot of experience or researched knowledge of military and law enforcement and other procedural events and has done a wonderful job of keeping the plot moving. It will keep you engaged even though you may discern the main culprit long before the end. Thank goodness he does not give graphic detail of events, sex scenes and if there was profanity in there I am not recalling it as it had to have been well placed and only to make a point. Great read.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC for an honest opinion. The opinions expressed are my own. Enjoy your read!

In Deliberate Deception, someone is using a millionaire raffle for murder. Alex Porter investigates the case. The story has action and mystery. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading until the end. The main character is sympathetic intuitive and complex. A good read overall for mystery fans. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

A greedy corporation rigs a multi-million dollar raffle—creating false hopes for ticket buyers—and the people aren’t winning. Enjoyed the style and pace of the book. Easy to read and fast paced with god plot and characters. but the ending could have been a little tidier. Overall very enjoyable.

This is a very good action thriller, with lots of action troughout, and it's written in short chapters that are easy to read and follow. The plot is excellent, as are the characters. There are a few redundancies, an unrealistic gunfight, and worst of all no ending. I hate cliffhangers.
