A wonderful book about the restoration of a small Italian town. A great storyline with excellent characters. An overall enjoyable book; the perfect summer read.
Overall I enjoyed this book. I loved the plot about breathing new life into an old Italian village. I liked the four different points of view. I always love a book set in Italy, and Nicky sets the scene well. For me there was a subdued feel to the story, which didn't detract from my enjoyment. I didn't feel uplifted by it though. Perhaps because the romances in it were subtle.
The Mayor of a small town in Italy is looking to increase the dwindling population and has decided on a plan to get new people to come and live there.
He places an advertisement offering three abandoned houses for €1 each.
The purchaser must renovate the house in three years and be part of the community.
He is astounded at the number of applications and his assistant helps him to choose three. These people are invited to come and look at the property chosen for them.
This is a book about friendship, second chances and new beginnings.
I really enjoyed this book and fell in love with the characters and almost felt that I was in Italy.
This is the second book I have read from this author and I will be looking out for more of her work.
Thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Another treat from Nicky Pellegrino with a trip to sun drenched Southern Italy for the Summer and the promises that the small town of Montenello may hold for four strangers brought together by circumstance. A captivating and enjoyable read - perfect for the armchair traveller this Summer.

I've never read a novel by this author before but as soon as I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It was well-written and engaging, and I fell in love with the location as well as the characters. It was an enjoyable and heartwarming read and I will definitely be looking out for more novels by this author in future.
