This is the first book I have read by Katherine Garbera and I am eager to see what she comes up with next.
This book starts with a chance encounter between Talia and Casey (cool names, btw). A second encounter leads to a steamy night. The third encounter has Talia interviewing for her dream job with Casey as her new would be boss.
Casey and Talia are complicated characters who have rough pasts. Each one fought their way through in a different manner and the reader gets to see how they work out their emotional issues and how they try to leave them out of their relationship.
The sex scenes are steamy. The story is well written and very polished even though it was an unedited copy. I found the book easy to read & entertaining. The epilogue had me wanting more. The story was set in Las Vegas, in a casino, so that was a nice change from the dominant alphas in corporate America. The characters were vulnerable but not pushovers. All in all, a good story.

2.5 Stars.

I couldn't connect with the characters and found myself skimming my way through it.
There were a few elements of the story I truly enjoyed - I loved the friendship between the main characters and their friends and I really liked the writing style - unfortunately, I just didn't enjoy the story.

My interest is peaked for a few side characters, and since I did like the writing style of Katherine Garbera - I have marked a note to myself to be on the lookout for when they release.

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley! Since my review is not positive - I will not post it anywhere else before release day.I will be back on the 14th to post on Goodreads, B&N and Amazon.

Good idea but didn't quite get there.

Sadly One Night Gamble by Katherine Garbera just didn't grab my interest. I found myself doing a lot of skim reading just to get through the book.
I found Talia annoying, her aversion to gamblers was understandable her relationship with Casey given her baggage was not. Unfortunately when I think of this story the first word that comes to mind is lackluster. Even the hunky partners and the promise of their stories didn't make it work for me.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

I had a bit of a difficult time deciding what I wanted to say about this book. I enjoyed the story, but there were elements that overshadowed that enjoyment at times.

It was apparent that Talia was in desperate need of some therapy. Throughout the entire book she could not get over what her dad did to her while growing up. She needed to let that go and realize not everybody is as driven by gambling as he was.
Poor Casey was paying for Talia's dad's mistakes big time! I really liked him. He was a straight shooter. He was honest, caring, and seemed to truly be a good guy. He was definitely in control of his poker playing.

I liked the humor which lightened Talia's mood here and there. I think if Talia had gotten out of her head, I would have liked her better. Her single-minded focus on all things bad with gambling got old after awhile. Her negativity overshadowed what chemistry she had with Casey and I barely felt any. I was surprised she didn't just walk away. The author needed to let Talia reshape her thoughts of gambling because of Casey. If it wasn't for my love of Casey, I would have rated this lower than I did.

I definitely am looking forward to reading the next book in this series about Casey's friend Nicholas.

Pretty good.

I had a difficult time rating this book. There were many factors that I enjoyed but just as many that I did not. I tried to balance them out so I could make sense with this review. Even through that process, one thing remained perfectly clear and that was I felt no connection between the characters.

I often found myself asking why Talia was even with him. She did not like what he did for a living. She hated having to be around gambling and held it against him through out the story. She held on to her past too tightly and could not let go of what her father did.

I liked Casey a lot in this story. He was upfront, honest, and truly cared for her. He went out of his way to be with her and protect her in all things. He was super sexy, fun and inventive, and generally a good guy.

There was plenty of humorous parts to this story that added a lot of levity. If the author had focused more on the fun side of Talia and the potential hotness premise of this story, oops I slept with my new boss, I may have felt different about her and the overall feeling about this story.

As it was, I felt little burning chemistry between the two because she was too focused on the negatives. The story was good, but I think the author missed the mark in several areas to make this a great read.

I requested this one because of the description, I thought it was cute. I really like the whole 3 friends owning a casino and each of them have different talents storyline. I enjoyed Casey and Talia, they both have some complicated pasts. I thought it was a pretty good easy read. I finished it in a couple of hours. I’ll probably check out the other 2 friends books, it’s cool what they do.

A totally exciting and good romance. SOme heat and a good plot help move the story along. Enjoyed from start to finish.

One Night Gamble is shy of 4 stars for me. For the most part I enjoyed reading Katherine Garners, a new to me author.

The story focuses on Casey and his 2 best friends. They met in foster care, remained friends and decided to open a casino in Vegas. Casey meets Talia and his world is turned upside down.

The pair have chemistry and prove that they have something more but I think the overall storyline was lacking. It needed more than her distrust of gamblers.

At one point Casey shows his vulnerability but it seemed to be over to quickly.

Awesome book! This book has it all, romance, letting go of ones mindset (in this book Talia had negative thought patterns about poker players due to how her Dad’s gambling had played havoc with her childhood and teenage years). Casey had to learn how to love, for him life had lacked love.

Katherine Garbera really took the gambling metaphors to the hilt to the point of cheesiness. Fortunately, she's a "winning hand" when it comes to storytelling. Book 2 in this series focuses on an illusionist. I'm already gearing up to flinch at the play-on-word possibilities. <-- Which means, I'd be open to checking out the Nicholas & Zelda story.

Excellent storytelling. Casey and Talia meet over a dropped box of condoms and fate takes over. The dialogue is fun and flows effortlessly. They are both wounded from events in their childhood and find it difficult to trust anyone outside their small inner circle. As their relationship blossoms they have to battle old insecurities and doubts that rise up to interfere with what they are building together. Owning up to missteps they had made they are able to smooth out the wrinkles and look to a bright future filled with love and happiness.

Thank you for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is the first of three I believe, the story of Casey and Talia. The location and setting are quite good, as is the reasoning behind Talia’s hesitation to be with Casey. Unfortunately I feel like we didn’t get to know the main characters well enough to see why they loved each other so much, apart from the physical attraction of course. Other than that it was interesting to meet the other characters and get a glimpse of their possible future love interests.

One Night Gamble by Katherine Garbera was just an okay read for me. The plot seemed rather thin and the characters were one dimensional. The potential was there but just never seemed to pan out.

Loved this first book in the Joker's Wild series. A one night stand turns into oops I slept with my new boss. Talia had major trust issues while Casey is waking in foreign territory. The navigation for this couple made for a great read.

Enjoyed the writing style and forward to next book in this series

This was a fun read about two people with some major trust issues and some baggage that needs to be released. With instant connection and heat, this was a sexy and quick story that had just enough angst to hit the spot.

Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

DNF @25%. Just didn't do it for me. The characters were one dimensional and the dialogue was cringe worthy. The meet cute was anything but. And who goes to celebrate the night before a big interview, at the place you are applying to? Rediculous.

5 Stars - Great read by new author for me & now added to my TBR author list !!

ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review - opinions expressed are my own ...

This is a relatively quick read ( one sitting 4 me ) but boy did it tick a # of my boxes :

⭐️Super HOT cover - 🔥🔥
⭐️ Great characters in Talia & Casey
⭐️ Vegas setting ♦️ ❤️ 🎰 ♠️ 💰
⭐️ Chance meeting / angst
⭐️ Strong heroine with snark thrown in👍
⭐️ Lots of GREAT chemistry🔥🔥

Talia meets Casey by chance - there is an immediate attraction but she takes him as just a player - he is good looking - rich - easy to talk to - putting him in the “ too good to be true “ classification = trouble with a capital “T” 💔

Talia goes out that night with her best friend to the newest casino in town Jokers Wild - & who does she meet but Casey !! Hoping to let her good girl image loose for a bit she decides to gamble on a one night stand with Casey - she’ll never see him again - right- that’s a big fat WRONG !!!

Casey is a hot shot gambler having made millions - but Talia just might be the biggest gamble of his life !!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK !!!!

Hope to read what’s coming next from this author !!!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was a quick read. This characters had chemistry, but Talia had major baggage. She should have gotten help. Learning to trust is hard enough without the memories of your dad holding you back. Plus she just couldn't make up her mind! To me Casey was the same one, and he is a gambler. I thought Darien was a dweeb. Overall a good read. I give it 3.5 stars.

As the temperature drops, this is the perfect story to keep your warm! It's easy to put yourself into the protagonist's shoes and wonder how she's going to figure out if she's going to be brave enough to actually take the steps needed to make herself happy or if she's going to fall back into her default mode of playing it safe. You'll find yourself cheering along for her and hoping she follows her heart!
