This one kicks off with high adrenaline and never lets off the gas. The tension builds from the turn of the first page. It's action packed and full of twists. This is a fast paced, well written and suspenseful read. This is a psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat biting my nails, there were twists galore and a surprising ending. I practically devoured this book in one day. The tension builds throughout the book like a pressure cooker about to explode!!
Wow. this book was absolutely fantastic. I read this book in one sitting.
The author gripped me with the storyline straightaway. I didn't really know where the story was going at first, but not in a bad way and then the suspenseful atmosphere was created, making the reader want to know what was coming next.
I absolutely loved this book.
I thought I had guessed the ending, but no, again i had another shock!!
What a fantastic book.
I will be buying the other books by the author.
Thank you
It’s six in the morning during the hottest summer on record when Elizabeth O’Loughlin, out walking her dog, comes across Clare, a victim of a horrific knife attack, clinging onto life at the side of the road. Clare dies minutes later, but not before whispering her haunting last words to Elizabeth. When it becomes clear that Clare’s killer has more than one murder on his mind, Elizabeth has to take drastic action or face losing everything. But what if she can’t stop a killer determined never to be forgotten?
This is a very slow burn of a read but I have to say, is probably Allan's best book yet! We begin with a gruesome discovery, this is important, the book is very gruesome at times so be prepared and only read this if you think you can hack it. Then we enter the stage of investigation, of doubting everyone and discovering everybody's secrets. This is not thrilling the whole way through and whilst I would not describe the first half a struggle to read, it was not as enticing as I hoped it would be. Then about halfway through I realised I had become hooked, Allan had ramped up the intensity subtly, and in ways that you do not really notice until you realise I am completely gripped by this read and unable to put it down. Masterful.
The plot does have twists and turns in it and there are one or two massive shocks. Now these big twists are down to clever writing rather than Allan pulling out a massive twist at the last second in the plot, still works very well and is still a clever way of writing the book but it meant the surprise came from a very different source to what I was expecting.
The characters in this are interesting, they are likeable enough that I enjoyed following them but they have their flaws which work against them. I did enjoy how Allan has them interact and how they all fit in together, I thought it was very clever, worked extremely well for the plot and provided some nice scenes.
'Forget Me Not' is a slow burn thriller but stick with it and you will find yourself hooked. Allan throws in some clever surprises as well which I very much enjoyed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an advance copy.
This book was not for me at all. There was a lot of boring filler which made me want to zone out. The book could’ve been half the length. The story is told from the point of view of Elizabeth and Rachel, Clare’s best friend. Rachel is the absolute worst. She whines and complains about everything and makes out that she is treated so badly when she’s the one cheating. Then there’s Clare and Rachels other best friend Julie who doesn’t really add anything to the story. I also guessed the killer pretty early on so even the “twist” wasn’t that exciting.
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review
This book will grab and hold your attention right from the start. I was sure I’d sussed out the ending , but was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of the story.
I found the book flowed really well and was at times hard to put down.
I’ve read a few previous books by this author so I couldn’t resist reading this one. I wasn’t disappointed as I really enjoyed this story.
Straight off this is a gripping read. From the start the author grabs our attention when Elizabeth finds Clare after being horrifically attacked with a knife. Elizabeth rings for an ambulance and hold Clare’s hand when she breathes her last breath. Just before she whispers her last words to Elizabeth.
There is plenty to this story which I’m not going to go into. Brilliant storyline with relatable characters.
I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Claire Allan continues to reinforce her standing as one of the brightest stars of domestic noir writing today with a twisted, menacing and sinister new thriller readers will simply not be able to tear themselves away from: Forget Me Not.
It’s the hottest summer on record in Derry. The heat is absolutely unbearable, everybody is feeling hot and restless and any respite from the sweltering temperatures is greatly appreciated. Elizabeth O’Loughlin is not a fan of the great outdoors at the best of times, but during the current heatwave, she is staying indoors more than usual and only ventures outside to walk her dog in the early hours of the morning before retreating back home. Walking the dog is meant to be a mundane, trivial and ordinary activity where the most exciting thing that can happen for Elizabeth is having her dog rolling in mud or coming across a dead animal. Until one day she stumbles across something that makes the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. When Elizabeth’s dog finds the body of a woman seconds away from dying, Elizabeth knew that the woman was brutally attacked and left for dead. When she called the emergency services, Elizabeth knew that her efforts were all in vain. However, little does Elizabeth realize that she has inadvertently walked into the lion’s den and put herself in terrible danger…
Julie, Rachel and Clare have been best friends since school. The three girls have been through hell and back together, but they are always there for each other. They are always ready with a shoulder to cry on, an understanding ear and a glass of wine for whenever things might be getting one of the girls down. From relationship break-ups to the death of a parent, the girls have been through thick and thin together and although they might not see as much of each other as they used to, their bond is as strong as ever. However, the bottom falls out of their world when it transpires that the body in the park was not that of a perfect stranger, but Clare’s! Who could possibly do something so heinous to their beloved friend? What would make anyone want to hurt Clare, let alone kill her! The girls are not only grief-stricken and heartbroken, but also perplexed. Did they know their friend as well as they thought? What secrets was Clare keeping from them? And what skeletons did she have hiding in her closet?
A dangerous killer is on the loose who is always watching intent on causing maximum damage. Clare might have been the first victim, but she will certainly not be the last one for this ruthless murderer might currently be hiding in the shadows, but there are sinister plans afoot to strike again and claim another victim. And another. And another…
Claire Allan surpasses expectations once again with her third terrifying thriller, Forget Me Not, an aptly named chiller which will certainly linger in the reader’s mind long after the last page is turned. A mesmerizing tale which I couldn’t put down, Forget Me Not is a compulsively readable and engrossing tale that sends shivers down the spine and will have readers cowering behind the sofa. Ingeniously plotted, brilliantly written and cleverly told, Forget Me Not is a pacy thriller that continues to propel best-selling author Claire Allan straight on the path to superstardom.
A first class thriller that will keep readers awake until the wee hours of the morning, Forget Me Not is another winner from Claire Allan’s twisted pen!
*5 Stars*

This was an interesting read with interesting characters. It shows how school kids can be so cruel, and how parents sometimes don't notice the change within their kids.
I felt sorry for Elizabeth for what happened to her. Shows how many peoples lives can be affected by one event in the past.
Absolutely fantastic had me gripped!!! Loved it! Can't wait for more from.this author. Storyline was great, characters were easy to.connect with
Thank you for the advanced copy
I'm not usually a fan of books written in the first person so when I saw that this story was narrated alternately by Rachel and Elizabeth I wasn't sure that I would enjoy it. However, the subject matter sounded interesting so I decided to give it a go. I was very glad I did. This was well written story with just the right amount of suspense to keep the reader interested right until the final denouement. It's well worth a read, in my opinion.
Review will be posted on Goodreads and Amazon and linked to my twitter account.
Loved the book (although the cover makes me think of The Wizard of Oz)!! So many twists and turns. Was not a fan of Paul, he seemed like a jerk and didn't show much sympathy about Clare's death. He acted like Rachel was being over dramatic about about the threats, even after the police warn her about what is going on. He just seemed like a lousy husband. The killer ended up being on my list of possible suspects. The story had me second guessing myself. I would never have guessed the reason behind everything, except that person was just simply crazy!!!! I loved how the book alternated between Rachel and Elizabeth. Rachel knew that she was being stalked by someone who had already killed her friend, so why would she go to a car park, that hardly anyone used along a country lane????!!!! That just screams- come kill me now, I'm all alone and there's no one to help me!!!!If someone was sending me flowers with cryptic scary messages and wanted to kill me, I would stay in my house that is being patrolled by the police.
Definitely recommend the book. It was a great suspense/mystery. This was the first book I read by the author and I look forward to reading more.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Avon Books UK through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Another excellent book by Claire Allen. I was hooked from the start and had no idea where the story was leading. Highly recommended
I love this author and she didn't disappoint with this book. Lots of suspense throughout, a real page turner.
What a cracker of a read this was! After reading this and her name was Rose I can definitely say that Claire Allan’s books 100% stand out from the crowd, they’re fast paced, tension filled, always keep you guessing and gripping as hell!
There’s 2 POV’s in forget me not and I think that’s what makes this so tense from the get go, every character is literally dealing with something Elizabeth is still trying to come to terms with the death of her daughter. Rachel is dealing with the grief of losing her mother and they’re both unravelling quite a bit after Claire’s death, throw in creepy cryptic notes attached to flowers that leave everyone thinking they could be next and you have yourself a lot of paranoid characters, basically all I need in a thriller to keep me hooked.
Fantastic characters, well written suspenseful read that will leave you surprised and eager for more from this talented author! Definitely one for every thriller reader, up there with authors like Shari Lapena, C.L.Taylor, J.P. Delaney huge 10/10 from me!
And still they keep coming, what a great year this is for pacey novels with a strong plot.
This is a cracking psychological thriller, with an ending that makes you think…did I just read that? I used to like Forget me Nots!
Perfect holiday reading.
Thank you for allowing me to review.
I found the book a good read, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. But none the less a good read with a good storyline and some strong characters.
Elizabeth, while out walking her dog early one morning, stumbles upon a woman with her neck slashed. She immediately calls for help but while waiting for the ambulance and police to arrive the victim utters two words: Warn Them . Then she takes her final breath.
It turns out the victims name is Clare and her best friends Rachel and Julie are just devastated by the news. Who would want to kill their best friend?
Elizabeth, Rachel, Julie, and Clare's family have all been left ominous bouquets of forget me not flowers with cryptic messages attached. Do they have a reason to be frightened?
Chapters are narrated by Elizabeth and Rachel and you know that these two seemingly unrelated people will have a connection at some point because psych thrillers need a twist to throw at their readers.
This was a ho-hum thriller if ever I read one. Rachel is the worst person. I could not stand her whining and complaining constantly. This is a woman that has been carrying on an affair for months but when she notices scratches on her husbands arm she immediately becomes enraged because he *may* be cheating on her. Her lover on the other hand wants nothing more than to be with Rachel but of course she can't because she loves her kids so very much and could never hurt them. So when he says that maybe they should pause the relationship while the murder investigation is going on...guess what she does? She becomes enraged with him for playing games with her. This woman needs a throat punch.
All I know about Julie, the other best friend, is that she lives inside a vodka bottle. Shocking! She has no character development whatsoever.
Elizabeth likes to bake bread and mourn the loss of her husband and daughter while living a solitary life in an old farmhouse with her dog and because of that fateful morning walk has been thrust into a situation she would rather have nothing to do with.
Pages upon pages of useless words. This book could have and should have been nearly 50-100 pages less. I skimmed quite a bit only to get to the most predictable conclusion. Let's just say I saw the twists coming from a mile away.
This one just wasn't for me. 2 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The thought of finding a stranger brutally stabbed, covered in blood and in their last moments of life must have been horrific for Elizabeth but she knew that the final words this lady spoke would be meaningful to someone. A message to loved ones perhaps but it wasn’t. The last words this woman said were was truly haunting, ‘Warn them’.
Oh my, this turns out to be such a dilemma for Elizabeth as the police warn her off telling anyone about what she had been asked to do. Elizabeth has suffered tragic loss herself and simply can’t let it rest, so she begins a little digging to find out about the dead young woman. The story is told mainly through Elizabeth and one of the victims best friends, Rachel, who is struggling already with the recent death of her mother.
There are some very strong characters in the story but one who is certainly damaged goods, it is a matter of working out just which one in this pool of red herrings. Do make plenty of time for this story as there isn’t a place you can leave it. There is just such a feeling of dread hanging over every page because I felt the killer was in plain sight.
This is a brilliant storyline which is all too real. One to make you stop and think.
I wish to thank NetGalley for an e-copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly.
Forget Me Not starts with a bang and doesn't really let up throughout. It combines convincing characters, an intriguing plot and plenty of tension, and although it includes elements of a police procedural, it's much more of a pyschological thriller and focuses on various people involved in different ways with the murder of a woman called Clare. Elizabeth finds her whilst out walking her dog, and holds her hand whilst she dies - finding herself unable to think about anything else but this awful experience, whilat Clare's friends Rachel and Julie struggle to cope - especially when Rachel discovers something worrying about someone close to her.
There are plenty of secrets hidden away behind seemingly normal family lives, and I really liked the many layers and twists that this story has. Seemingly loose threads suddenly become connected as the novel goes on - I really enjoy stories like this.
The story sets a good pace which did a great job of keeping me interested, and it's an easy book to race through, so I'd really recommend Forget Me Not. It's an entertaining thriller, where no one is quite as they seem and plenty of people are less than likable! The ending will definitely surprise you, and it's a really fun, addictive read - one to take away on holiday (if you want to spend all your time reading!)
I really enjoyed this book. I found the characters relatable and thought that the focus on the characters' grief gave the story a different edge to it. It had me hooked from the first page.
Told from two different perspectives, the elderly lady, Elizabeth, who finds a victim of a brutal attack whilst walking her dog and the young best friend of the victim, Rachel.
Twisty with a tense atmosphere
