The storyline was not a surprise as were the twists. I thought this was a fine book. I did keep reading it in the hopes that in my opinion and feelings towards this book would get better. They didn't really change. Even when I got to the "big reveal"; I was like that is it. In fact, I was a little upset by the ending.

Jordana and Kerrie were "too nice" for my taste when it comes to psychological thrillers. There was more conversation than there was "revenge". As they story went on; things did start happening to Jordana via Kerrie's doing but it was subtle in my eyes.

Therefore, when you add the two elements together, the overall vibe of the book was "just alright" for me. I was left craving more.

Pretty Revenge is my first book by Emily Liebert and it didn’t disappoint! The story is told in each character’s point of view and keep me intrigued throughout! I mean come on who doesn't like to read about some good revenge from time to time!! I really enjoyed the characters and felt the story flowed well!! Pretty Revenge is a great psychological thriller for all us mystery/thriller fans!

Wow, wow, wow. Flawlessly written and fast paced. The POV between both characters have you thinking you're watching a tennis match. Keeps you riveted until the end. Pick up this awesome book and prepare to not be able to put it down. Happy reading!

What I liked:

—quick moving; told between two characters, and the POV alternate so the story moves quick

What I didn’t like as much:

—the one seeking revenge is supposed to mess up the life of the other, but Jordana solves the problems caused way to easily and so they don’t really do anything to hurt her, just stress her out. I think this is a hole in the plot.

Overall I enjoyed the book and read it pretty quickly. I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

Revenge can be sweet. Pretty even. Pretty Revenge was definitely a 5 star read for me. Surprisingly, it wasn’t the thriller I thought it may be, but it did suck me in regardless. I finished it in a day and I’m telling you, this is a great summer read. Pick it up now.

Kerrie was royally screwed by Jordan 18 years ago. I mean, really, REALLY screwed over. Jordan, now Jordana, is living the high life in the Big Apple when Kerrie sees her on the news being interviewed for her successful new business. Kerrie decides then to take her birth name of Olivia, change her look a bit, and then puts together a plan of revenge that is nothing if not admirable. Jordana, meet that new assistant you said you needed.

While not thrilling in the thriller sense, Pretty Revenge is about a girl wanting what's owed and seeing whether the other will get her just desserts. It’s salacious and intriguing. And yes, thrilling. It’s like Liebert made you a fly on the wall of NYC’s rich, famous, and ridiculous. Kerrie/Olivia knows who Jordana really is and will stop at nothing to expose her. I simply couldn’t stop reading. And in all honesty, despite quite valid reasons, I wasn’t quite sure who I wanted to win. This book felt like a guilty pleasure and I enjoyed every word.

I received an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Mysterious and attention grabbing. Pretty Revenge by Emily Liebert is wonderfully written with a main character who wants more from life and blames others for her lack of success. Switch over to Jordana who appears to have it all. Secrets that the women share threaten to bring down all Jordana has worked hard to build.

If you like psychological thrillers I would completely recommend this one to you.

Pretty Revenge by Emily Liebert is being marketed as “a riveting, compulsively readable novel bursting with twists and turns and plenty of suspense.” I, however, have a hard time thinking of this as a thriller or having a ton of twists and turns. It seemed a pretty straightforward case of revenge leaving it more with a contemporary feel or slightly suspenseful drama.

Kerrie O’Malley has spent the past eighteen years dwelling on the day she felt her life had been ripped away from her in the blink of an eye. Kerrie’s parents had both died when she was little leaving her with her grandmother raising her. One night Kerrie offered help to a teenage neighbor she looked up to and that became the biggest mistake of her life.

Now almost two decades later that teen Kerrie had tried to help is now known as Jordana Pierson. Not only had Jordana married a rich man but she runs her own business and lives a life featured in magazines. After all this time Kerrie has changed her looks and her name and plans to work her way into Jordana’s life for the revenge she deserves.

The book started off strong enough with nice writing that flowed well and was easy to comprehend bringing a reader into the story. The thing was though for me I just kept waiting for something shocking or something other than the plan unfolding to surprise me. When finished I also felt the end just kind of fizzled out leaving me with one of those meh, it’s alright feelings.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Jordana is a celebrity wedding planner being interviewed on a morning news show. She is also the person who ruined Kerrie’s life eighteen years ago. Kerrie is unemployed and in a mundane relationship when she decides to enact her Pretty Revenge by applying to be Jordana’s assistant.

It was fun to read the back and forth gamesmanship between the two leads. However, the ending was predictable. Pretty Revenge was marketed as a thriller but reads more like chick-lit without the humor or much romance. Still the battling of the two women makes for some light summer entertainment. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars!

This one reads like a contemporary mixed with a little thriller. We have two main characters that take turns narrating the story. Jordonna has it all, the husband and a successful wedding planning business. Kerri, not so much. Kerri finds out that Jordonna is hiring at jumps at the chance to work for her to only to get the revenge she desires.

I allowed the author a lot of grace in the believability of this plot. So many things just happened and lined up perfectly to allow Kerri to get her revenge with little, to no consequences. It all felt a little too predictable and wrapped up in a bow for me.

However, this was a refreshing book and I really appreciated it for what it was.

I would recommend this to anyone. Especially if they are new to the thriller genre and just wait to dip their toe in it.

Kerrie O'Malley wants revenge. So, she goes to New York to find Jordana Pierson who wronged her eighteen years ago. Jordana has it all; a wealthy husband, a beautiful home and a flourishing wedding planning business. Kerrie changes her name to Olivia and works her way into Jordana's business and into her life. The story is told through Jordana and Olivia's points of view, and we eventually find out why Olivia is seeking revenge as well as some other secrets along the way. It is done well and makes a great summer read! I received an advance review copy. All opinions are my own.

I read this book in a few sittings. I loved the dual POV and resolution.

I got why Kerrie was seeking revenge but it felt that she didn't have a clear plan on how. Yes she got it in the end but it felt rushed. I wished Kerrie had a clear plan. Yes I could see the whole William/Kerrie/love triangle for the start.

I did like the POV of Jordana the best. She seem to be a more engaging character.

Overall this was an enjoyable summer beach read.

The name of the game is revenge--no matter the cost.

Maybe it's just the way my brain works anymore, after decades of reading twisty, psychological thrillers...but every time I turned a page in this novel, I found myself hoping something big would happen.

Nothing ever did.

So, my fellow readers, if you're looking for a fast-paced stunner...this isn't the book for you. However, if what you crave is a slow-burning, character driven story which begins and ends EXACTLY as you'd expect it to, this is the one for you.

The writing is decent, the characters are well-developed, and the plot promises intrigue. I frantically kept turning pages to see how everything would play out...and was so disappointed by the anti-climatic, almost mundane, conclusion.

I wanted more.

More suspense, more drama, more depth, and most certainly, a more fiery finale. Pretty Revenge would rate mild on the pepper heat intensity scale. Having said that, with a few tweaks, I think this could be a very, very worthwhile read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for my advanced reader's copy. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely LOVE a story about revenge.... and I was in LOVE with this cover.

This was such a wickedly juicy and fun book to read!! Pretty Revenge is juicy, delicious, and the perfect thriller to have on your side by the summer beachside!

Kerrie has been wronged in her life and is determined to get her revenge on Jordan. Kerrie soon moves to NYC to find Jordan to ultimately give her the revenge she deserves. This is where the game plays out between this two women... jumping from dual POV.

This was such a fast read for me and devoured in a little over 2 days. I definitely had fun with this one... my only issue was that I was a tad disappointed in how the ending played. I was hoping for a bit more devious revenge feeling.

4 stars

Pretty Revenge unfolds in the form of a tennis match between two women who met only once on a night that changed each of them dramatically forever. We don't get any details from that night until very late in the game, but it's referenced (rather blandly) throughout the book. Personally, I wanted more of those lingering thoughts - particularly from Kerrie. When Kerrie changes herself completely to integrate seamlessly and irrevocably in Jordan's life almost 20 years later, the reader knows that something dramatic is imminent.

The pace is quick and this is a binge worthy read. It is not, however, a thriller. There's no suspense, no big twists. Everything unfolds exactly how you expect if you were paying attention. There's a romantic subplot that felt out of place and distracting from the overarching theme of revenge.

I found myself not really rooting for either character. Both were birthed in tragedy and picked themselves up and clawed their way to the inevitable conclusion, but their narration and inner thoughts were vapid and very chick-lit (which is not what I signed up for). And by the end, neither of them was 100% sold on what they were doing, so all the passion and drive fizzled out.

If you're looking for a fast read with two complex and sympathetic characters, Pretty Revenge is a good choice!

inda' Book Obsession Reviews "Pretty Revenge" by Emily Liebert, July 2, 2019

Emily Liebert, Author of "Pretty Revenge" has written an intense, captivating, suspenseful, intriguing, edgy and thrilling novel. The Genres for this novel are Psychological Fiction, Suspense, Fiction and Women's Fiction. The timeline for this story spans 18 years. The author describes her characters as obsessive, vengeful, complex, dysfunctional and complicated.

As a noun, "revenge ( Google definition) the action of infliction hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands." As a verb, "inflict hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong done to (someone else)" Google definition

I have heard that revenge has been referred to as payback, an eye for an eye, and retaliation. How far should one person go to get revenge? What motivations or goals should that person expect?

Kerrie O'Malley has lost her job, and is living what she feels is a mundane life. She turns on the television and sees someone that she feels is responsible for her greatest losses and is determined to get her "just desserts" or revenge.

Jordana Pierson is wealthy and seems very together with a successful Wedding Consultant Business. If you only knew what really is going on.

This is an intense page-turning, riveting story with twists and turns, betrayals, secrets, and lies. I would highly recommend this edgy novel!

This is the first book I have read from this author. With that being said, I enjoyed this book in the beginning. As you know from the blurb , Jordana did something awful to Kerrie when she was 12 years old. Jordana was a few years older. Jump to 18 years later and Kerrie is with her boyfriend and sees Jordana, who really was Jordan on the television, married to someone wealthy, living in Manhattan and is one of the best event planners for weddings. From that point on, Kerrie plots her revenge. She uses her middle name, moves to New York, gets her hair done and looks terrific. She gets a job as Jordana’s assistant. She fills the role as her assistant but is plotting all along to get her revenge. Eventually all is revealed why Kerrie wants to get revenge on Jordana and what happened all those years ago. It really wasn’t a psychological thriller and the book goes back and forth between Jordana and Kerrie so you get to see both sides. The book was an easy read, fast paced and I enjoyed it but it becomes a little to pat and for me the ending was no surprise. I gave it 3 stars but it was a bit of a letdown because I saw the ending coming and I love the element of surprise. I want to thank net galley and the publisher for this ARC I received for an honest review, (less)

Pretty Revenge? More like Petty Revenge. I really couldn't understand why these grown women were acting so childish.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just a bad book judge, because I thought that Pretty Revenge was a thriller and I anticipated some cold blood murder, something scary popping out behind me. Really anything that would keep my up at night.

Sadly, what I got was another women's fiction novel parading itself with a thriller-esqe cover. Maybe it's not exactly women's fic but goodness... I wasn't thrilled reading it. I wanted something intense and daring, and what I got was a grown woman holding a grudge and instead of I don't know, being direct and confronting the other woman about it from the beginning she harbored resentment and acted like a petty child.

I'm once again not picking books where I understood what I was getting from the blurb and it makes me really disappointed.

On a positive note, I did enjoy Emily Liebert's writing and story telling even though I didn't like the plot of the story, but that tends to happen when you expect murder and you don't get it.

The premise of revenge in this book sounded intriguing, thinking it would be a thriller. It is not. It's very tame.
Kerrie sees an interview with Jordan on television about her new wedding concierge business. Jordan has wronged Kerrie many years ago as a child and she decides this is the perfect time to take her revenge. Kerrie becomes Olivia and moves to New York to interview with Jordan (now Jordana). She gets the job (way too easily) and starts her plan of revenge. Her ways of revenge are pretty lame: deleting emails and voicemails, miscommunication with wedding vendors, etc. Nothing too jaw-dropping. Her whole reason for revenge was very weak, too, and not well thought out. She was lucky to find the information on Jordana's husband on the computer.
The ending was weak and unbelievable.
