This collection of essays by southern writers really hit the spot for me. There's something mysterious about our mothers and their pasts. No matter how we try, it's impossible to disentangle their identity as woman and "my mother." I was really impressed with the variety of essays and the varying ages of the authors.

Not my cup of tea. Tried my best to enjoy this book but, it was not landing with me. I put it down for a few days and when I picked it up I just could not enjoy the story.
