Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian with a lot of work ahead of her. When she hears that more than one horse is sick Audrey is devastated. She cannot bear to see a horse suffering. It almost breaks her and she makes it her aim to discover the cause. The sick horses are part of a ranch that Caleb Harper and his family own. Sadly, more than one horse falls ill, so Caleb and Audrey work together to discover what is going on.

Caleb is certainly not new to the adversity facing him at the ranch. When he was a young boy his mother abandoned him and his brother Brice and sister Abby. He had a very good upbringing despite this, but is still very much affected by the abandonment he experienced.

It has been several years, and Caleb even spent time in the Army and now is a rodeo star as well as a rancher. Audrey hardly has time to help Caleb. She works for two ranches and they are quite strict about any moonlighting. However, she feels compelled to help, even when it becomes more than dangerous for her to do so.

During the years that have passed, Caleb's sister Abby married the owner of the East Ranch, Clayton East. More recently, his brother Brice married. Abby was instrumental in his life while growing up, and is no less important to Caleb now. As a matter of fact, despite all three of them being so adversely affected by what his mother did, Caleb seems to be hit the hardest.

This affects what is happening with him and Audrey. He cannot help but being drawn to her, but he is really carrying a lot of baggage. It was so touching to see their relationship bloom while his trust grew. Audrey is rather a unique individual. She enjoyed men, but never knew how to open her heart. Her time with Caleb changes that. A real opportunity for growth is open to the both of them.

My Favorite Cowboy is the third book in the Heart of Texas series, and is actually my favorite of the three. While each story can serve well as a standalone, the series is truly compelling and would do well to be read in order. The history of Caleb and his siblings is touched on in this story, but their deepest trauma is explored across all three books. The previous two books were The Christmas Cowboy Hero and Cowboy, Cross my Heart. I have enjoyed my time spent reading these books and am looking forward to continuing with this series. The following book is A Cowboy Like You, slated for release in August.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was so suspenseful! This novel takes place three years after Brice and Naomi and we get to see plenty of their relationship in this book but this one is about Caleb and Audrey. Audrey is an equine vet and is the most sought after vet in the area. When she is called in to look at sick horses she can't figure out what is causing their illness and without a solution she can't give them anything. Caleb just happens to be at the auction house when Audrey is there and he is instantly drawn to her. Both Caleb and Brice commit to helping her and when it becomes obvious that someone is after her, protecting her. The story between Caleb and Audrey is sweet and hot and fraught with worry. Neither do relationships but staying away from each other is impossible. So they don't even try. Check this book out when you get the chance. You won't regret it!

I hope that the author plans to continue the series (maybe with Maddy's book) and this is not the final book. Naomi and Brice's storyline was left unfinished and I want to see what these two will do next. Another thing that bugged me is how easily they found out who was harming the horses and got the evidence to prove it. That part was a little rushed.

I am a fan of Donna Grant and it pains me to say that I didn't like this book much. It's the third one in the series and I read it after book 1, so I was a little surprised to find out that Abby's little brother was a grown man who was about to get his happy ending. That's what you get when you only half read book 1 (didn't have the time and had to stop it, I will finish it as soon as I find a few hours to spare). To be honest, I liked The Christmas Cowboy Hero more. Of course, that might be because I don't have the whole picture of it. When I began writing this review I had a more positive attitude towards it, but as I am starting to analyze the book I am starting to find out more and more things I didn't like. To me, it seemed like the author kept adding more plotlines to a book that had already enough material to be worked on that weren't needed. As I mentioned in the paragraph above Brice and Naomi got some shocking news and we never found out what they decided to do and how they moved on with their lives and I hate that because they are the couple from book 2, so they already had a story and it's finished. People came into the picture, stayed for 5 mins and then left and some of them could have had some major impact on the characters, but that didn't happen either. Caleb and Audrey's romance was also a little rushed and very disappointing in the second half of the book.

What saved the book from getting a lower rating from me the fact that I read the book in a day and I didn't have any trouble finishing the story. Caleb and Audrey have skeletons in their closets, but they work things out and I loved how Caleb was treating Audrey in the first half of the book.

May Have Mild Spoilers

OK I'm gonna be honest here and I'm gonna try not to spoil anything while letting you know why this book was just alright for me. After reading Cowboy, Cross My Heart I was really looking forward to Caleb's book. I hate to say it, but the book didn't live up to my expectations. No not the book really, it was Caleb and Audrey relationship that didn't work for me. I actually liked the plot which is why I gave this book 3 stars instead of less. Those stars were for the plot and catching up with Naomi and Brice. So let me lay out what didn't work for me with Caleb and Audrey's love.
1. They had an unrealistic insta-love. They fell in love in like 2 days, however it didn't feel like love to me. It just felt forced.

2. I got really annoyed at the amount of days both Caleb and Audrey let go between talking to each other. Let me give a few examples. After they sleep together, they have a bit of a fight, and kinda make up(I'm trying not to give away spoilers). Then there is an misunderstanding, and instead of Caleb going after her he waits days. Days! Letting her sit there in pain thinking all kinds "he don't want me" thoughts. Then when he does finally come to her and tells her he wants her, she does the same damn thing. As the days past, I found myself getting more and more pissed off. They both just acted like cowards. That's my second biggest pet peeve in books next to cheating. If they would have only waited once, or for one day I would have been able to understand it, but it was too much too long.

3. They spent more time apart or fighting their feels than together. They maybe spent a total of 24 hours actually being together the rest of the time it was drama and fear. So after such little time I don't get how they fell in love at all.

4. lastly I didn't buy how quickly Caleb got over his mommy issues. Which was one of the reasons he feared letting Audrey into his heart.
Still I liked the plot. I really liked Maddy, Audrey's sister. I liked both Caleb and Audrey as individuals just didn't feel their relationship, which bummed me out. My heart broke for Brice and Naomi. I need them to get some good news in the next book. Overall this was an okay read for me. Donna Grant is a great writer, but this book just had a pet peeve that drove me nuts, so even though I didn't like it as much as the other I will read more from Donna Grant.

My Favorite Cowboy takes place three years after Cowboy, Cross My Heart. Caleb is set on never finding love.

Audrey has been called in on an emergency to save some horses who may have been poisoned. When Caleb and his family find out about what's going on with the horses. Caleb and Audrey have an instant connection.

I did like that Audrey and Caleb were an interracial couple. I always get so excited about those.

I thought My Favorite Cowboy was an interesting story. I didn't think it was the best of the series, but it was enjoyable enough. The story dragged in some spots and everything felt pretty predictable. Overall, it's not the worst story out there, but it didn't bring anything new to the story.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant is book three in her Heart of Texas series. My Favorite Cowboy can easily be read as a standalone. For better understanding I recommend to read the books in order. The previous books are The Christmas Cowboy Her and Cowboy, Cross My Heart.

My Favorite Cowboy tells the story of Audrey and Caleb.
Audrey Martinez is the lokal veterinarian. Her job is her calling and when horses get hurt and sick she hurts with them. The owner of a auction house calls her for help and bam she's involved in a nasty war.
And there's Caleb. He doesn't do relationships and has abandonement issues. He meets Aubrey and they have this crazy insta- connection.

Favorite Quote: " Always follw your heart. "

My Favorite Cowboy is a beautiuful story, excellent written, beautifully thought out and beautifully told. I loved the story and the characters and give 4,5 stars.

The Heart of Texas family saga continues with the story of Caleb Harper and Audrey Martinez, and their way of finding peace with their past, learning to trust and love without reservations and daring to take that leap of love into the unknown.
Both Caleb and Audrey have serious abandonment issues with their parents. Audrey's dad took off after their mother died, just couldn't handle the sorrow of losing his soulmate. Caleb's mom left the kids at the crucial time of their childhood. These parental issues are made to be the reason to the back and forth going between Caleb and Audrey, a game that went on a bit too long to my liking. Also, when the solution finally came, it was too easy after all the torment Caleb and Audrey (and the readers) went through.
They did have a chemistry between them, the attraction is obvious, and there was no doubt in my mind that they were into each other, that connection was palpable.
I enjoyed the secondary characters, the families and friends contribute greatly into the tale and even give more depth to the hero and heroine, showing them with new eyes. Each of them has clear characteristics, making them very likable and an important part of the story.
The suspense was my favorite part of the tale. It is fierce and intense, and as the culprits get their point of view in the tale as well, the anticipating tension rises to new elevations.

What happens when two commitment-phobes meet and find themselves deeply attracted to each other? In My Favorite Cowboy, the third book in Donna Grant's Heart of Texas series, Audrey Martinez and Caleb Harper meet when they work together to discover who is poisoning the horses at a friend's auction house. Romance and suspense abound as they work together to find the culprit.

Audrey is a very-well regarded equine vet whose father left her and her sister to fend for themselves after their mother died. Caleb is former military and a rancher whose mother abandoned him and his siblings. They both have a love 'em and leave 'em attitude about relationships and, when their smoldering attraction finally ignites, are afraid to trust what they have found with each other.

Grant's well-written story and character development kept my interest and, while I haven't read the first two books in the series, this reads well on its own. I believe Audrey's sister, Maddy, needs her own story.!

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a charming read. I was enchanted right from the beginning. Caleb and Audrey are two wonderful characters with basically the same issue that prevents them from entering into a relationship. While they work together to save some ill horses and solve a crime, they fall in love. These characters go through a very intense couple of days that help to push these two together. But is it enough to last a lifetime? You will have to read for yourself.

This story has all the highs and lows of a great book. The roller-coaster ride that you go through is definitely worth it. You also get to see characters from prior books of this series. I so hope that a few secondary characters get their stories as well.

This story is written in my favorite dual POV. Being able to read the characters' POV really gives a better understanding of their actions and why they say the things that they do.

While this story is a part of a series, you don't necessarily need to read the other stories to thoroughly enjoy this one.

Caleb Harper and his brother, Brice, have built a successful ranch where they raise and train horses. However, things have not always come as easy to Caleb as growing the ranch has. His life changed forever the moment their mother walked out on them. Caleb was only six years old at the time and the scars go deeper than anybody suspected. He has always thought it was his fault their mom left and that he didn’t deserve love. Therefore, he knows that he will never settle down like his siblings have and instead goes through women like someone with a cold goes through tissues. One night stands are much easier than trying for a relationship that would be doomed from the start anyway.

Audrey Martinez is a successful equine veterinarian in the area and is highly sought after by the local ranches in the area. She works exclusively with two ranches and does rescue work on the side. As, per her agreement with the ranches she isn’t allowed to see to any other horses. However, when a family friend, David, finds himself with horses getting sick at his auction house with no known cause she rushes to help solve the mystery. Not to mention, to try to prevent other animals from getting ill.

After seeing the sick horses Audrey suspects foul-play and David calls in favors from Brice and Caleb Harper and their brother-in-law, Clayton East. The men stay on the property to protect Audrey and her sister while they tend to the horses and to try to catch whoever is hurting them. But once it becomes clear, whoever is doing this isn’t trying to hurt David, but a beautiful vet instead, Caleb refuses to leave Audrey’s side. And, when sparks ignite between the couple Caleb has to decide if it’s fight or flight time. Fight for a chance at love or flee before he gets hurt?

I’m really enjoying this series from Donna Grant, which is a great relief since I have grown bored with her paranormal titles of late. I have to say that she can really weave a story when she puts her mind to it!

I adore the Harper brothers and it’s been nice watching them grow-up. My heart breaks for Caleb and what he’s gone through after seeing his mother leave them. I’m not sure how any parent could do that to her children. Despite all of that, Caleb has grown into a good man thanks to Abby and Clayton and the rest of the East family. He’s a bit damaged due to what his mom put him through, but it’s nothing that the loving of a good woman can’t fix. If he will let her, that is!

Audrey has devoted her life to her career. And, after watching her father be destroyed by her mother’s death, she, like Caleb, isn’t sure she can ever give her heart to someone to crush it. These two are more alike than they realize which only makes it harder for them to finally give in to their deepest desires.

This was a great book. The epilogue was sugar-sweet and left me wishing it was just a little longer so we could see more of this great couple. There are still plenty of other characters in the book so I’m hoping this series continues so we can see more of the people we’ve grown to love. Jace and Cooper definitely need their own books after all! And, I wouldn’t be upset if Jace and Maddy had a romance blooming … although how they’d ever be able to have enough food in the house for the two of them is anybody’s guess! We also need to see more of Brice and Naomi after the news they just received. As, you can tell I’m already dying to get my hands on the next book! However, I’ll have to sit and impatiently wait! Good thing Grant is a quick writer! Hopefully she doesn’t hold out on us for too long.

Audrey is an equine veterinarian who has devoted her life to saving horses and hasn’t had the time or energy to consider pursuing a relationship. When a friend asks her for some assistance with some sick horses it raises more questions than answers and they wonder if there is a sinister presence at work, so they call in Caleb and his family for help.

Caleb and his brother Brice own a ranch where they train horses. He has a painful past and although his siblings have found love Caleb doesn’t want to allow anyone that close so that they have the power to hurt him. From the moment he meets Audrey he is intrigued and attracted to her, despite the fact that he tries to deny his feelings.

As the horses don’t appear to be getting any better and the danger around them escalates will they be able to protect the horses, their hearts and each other?

Both Caleb and Audrey have built walls around them so their journey to find each other isn’t without it’s ups or downs but you know that they belong together and will find their way once all is said and done.

I'm a big fan of Donna Grant's paranormal romances, but I believe this may be the first contemporary romance I've read of hers. This one was definitely a good one with which to start. Mix together a very intelligent heroine, a hot protective cowboy, suspense and steamy loving, and you have the perfect recipe for an exciting romance!

Audrey was an excellent equine veterinarian who was in great demand. Her friend David's horses were dying, and she was doing everything she could do to save them, while also working two jobs and helping with rescues. Caleb's family was also friends with David, and they were fixing his security cameras to see if someone was deliberately making the horses sick. When it appeared that Audrey was in danger, our protective cowboy was there to help. Sparks flew (both literally and figuratively).

The chemistry between the leads was very steamy; it was also rather complicated. Audrey's parents were deeply in love and when her mother died, her father was devastated and took off. Caleb's mother just walked out on her children, leaving his sister to raise her two young brothers. Caleb has never forgiven his mother for abandoning them. These circumstances led to both Audrey and Caleb always leaving a relationship before things could get serious. Could things be different for the two of them together? Besides our two leads, Audrey's sister and Caleb's siblings were great examples of familial love. I must go back and read the previous books in this series; I'll be thrilled if they are as good as this one!

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

This was a book I wanted to read because I had enjoyed the first two books in the series. Caleb and Aubrey’s story is a quick and entertaining read.

Caleb, the youngest of the Harper siblings, has never had a serious relationship. It was fun watching the lust/longing at first sight for him and the equally relationship adverse vet.

As with the previous books in the series there is a suspense plot going along side the romantic story. While both plot lines were interesting, I didn’t feel as if either was as fully developed as I would have expected from this author.

It also appeared that certain elements were inserted into the story and not resolved, especially as relating to Brice/Naomi (Caleb’s brother and sister in law) and Aubrey’s father. I don’t know if these are elements that will be in future books, but they did leave with an unresolved feeling here.

Overall, this was a book I enjoyed and would recommend to fan’s of Grant and the Heart of Texas series, but I would suggest finding it at the library or on sale versus paying full price as it didn’t feel as strong as the rest of the series.

Take veterinarian, Audrey Martinez who is
hard working, not looking for men in her life
add cowboy, Caleb Harper who distrusts
woman plus an unknown person who is
making the horses sick and the combination
explodes into a suspenseful adventure. The
story has twists and turns with intense,
spicy romance, captivating writing and a
riveting storyline.
The main characters are vivid, colorful, well
defined with instant undeniable chemistry
between them. The supporting characters are
interesting and intriguing.
I volunteered to read My Favorite Cowboy.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was a great book!
Audrey is a vet, so she spend most of her time, who is she kidding, she spend ALL of her time taking care of horses.
She would like to meet a man, but where is she going to find the time.
Caleb is wary of relationships.
When he meets Audrey, there are more than sparks.
From the beginning, the chemistry and attraction are there.
Now, they just have to act on it.
Will these 2 give love a chance ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant
Heart of Texas #3

I remember starting this series with Abby down on her luck and falling in clover with Clayton. The best thing that ever happened to the Harpers just may have been Clayton East. In the second book Brice meet and fell for Naomi and in this book Caleb – the brother who planned never to marry – meets his match in veterinarian Audrey Martinez. I have a feeling that this series could continue as there is Maddy (Audrey’s sister) still without someone to love and two good friends of the Harpers and Easts that need to find someone – Cooper and Jace. And, is the sheriff married? If not, Danny might need a partner, too.

Anyway, this book starts with sick horses at an auction house and the vet called in just happens to be Audrey. She does her best to save the horses...with mixed results. Security for the auction house is provided by Caleb, Brice and Clayton with Jace and Cooper there, too. So, animals are being harmed, someone is trying to set Audrey up to take a professional fall and there are some very bad things happening in the neighborhood...including murder. In the midst of this Caleb and Audrey manage to find one another, pursue the attraction then have falling out times that have to be corrected before a HEA can be achieved. There are also issues from their pasts that impact their ability to trust that also must be overcome. I still want to find out about Maddy, Jace, Cooper and Danny but at least there was some closure toward the end of the book on some of the family issues and that helped more than one character in the book.

Who was the bad guy out to get Audrey? You will have to read the book to find out.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

My Favorite Cowboy my Donna Grant had all the good things I love about a cowboy romance. This is the third book in her Hearts of Texas series but can be read as a standalone.

Audrey is the best equine vet around, she works hard and cares deeply for the horses she tends to. When a family friends horses mysteriously take ill she drops what she's doing to help. Turns out there's a lot more going on than just a few sick horses, someone is out to ruin Audrey's reputation and maybe even her life. Caleb is ex military turned cowboy. He finds true peace and solitude in the horses he trains. Caleb finds himself at the farm with Audrey just in time to help her care for the horses and also keep her safe. Both Audrey and Caleb are people who aren't looking for relationships, but they can't deny the instant connection between them.

The characters in the story were all great. Audrey is smart, independent and caring. Caleb is a strong charming cowboy. They both had a soft spot for animals in need and both focused on them instead of their own insecurities. I enjoyed how the were both alike in a lot of ways and complimented each other perfectly. I also really loved Audrey's sister and Caleb's siblings, it makes me want to go back and read the first two books in the series. The story line was well paced and believable, I just wish Caleb had maned up sooner and called or reached out to Audrey. However, I appreciated that she didn't automatically forgive him for shutting her out.

Overall, My favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant was a lovely cowboy romance with an interesting mystery and a bit of suspense. I look forward to reading more books by Grant in the future.

I found this book very easy reading and it captivated me from the very beginning as the plot started right away . I also found that Caleb didn’t come across as a cowboy though he only rode a horse a couple of times and had nothing to do with cows, barring that it was a great story and an enjoyable read.
