Gritty police procedural with lots of twists. Interesting look at the world of the homeless and teenage rebellion. Good characters, especially the mothers.

Another great addion to the series. This starts soon after number two in the series Her Final Hour and Gina is still coming to terms with what happened to her. An explosive start after an intriguing prologue the story hurtles along. Again unusual twists and turns make for a great main plot and nice further developments with the characters and their lives in the subplots. Read in one day this is a real page turner

Redheads beware! You’re just the girl he’s looking for!

This was a gripping dark and twisted police procedural... The third book in the DI Gina Hart series and just as engaging as the previous two... even though I have read the previous books I do believe this can absolutely be read as a standalone.... but I’m going to bet that after you read this one you will want to go back and read the previous two!

A young girl’s body falls out of the back of a van, she is rushed to the hospital and her last words are, “help her!” A couple days later and a couple miles away a young girl’s body is found in a shallow grave... what these girls had in common their age, their emaciated bodies, and their hair color, red... Gina who just had an argument with her own daughter, is more determined than ever to solve this horrendous case....

I really liked how Gina and Company worked this case... I also liked how we got multiple perspectives including that of another young girl and potential next victim as well as a mother whose daughter was missing... I think the additional perspectives really added a layer of authenticity and terror to the story.... The mystery was full of the perfect amount of twists and turns and red herrings.... my one little niggle with the series is we don’t necessarily get to know Gina quite as much as I would like... we get a little glimpse, but I really would love to get to know this character better!

🎧🎧🎧 Audio Narration:
Tamsin Kennard made this British crime thriller even more British, that’s a good thing! I read the previous two books in the series so listening to the audio was a new experience and it definitely enriched the story for me...Tamsin has a beautiful English accent, much better than the one that runs through my head, she also added a little more of a feminine hand to Gina, and I really like that! She also did a really good job with the male voices, always a bonus! A audiobook narrator that adds another dimension to the story cannot be beat, if you are an audiobook person I’d pick this one up!

An engaging twisted crime thriller that will wake your inner detective! Recommended!

🎵 Music running through my mind! As a redhead that part of the story really stuck with me so the song I have paired with this book is...

“Well brunettes are fine man
And blondes are fun
But when it comes to getting the dirty job done
I'll take a red headed woman
A red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get a dirty job done

Oh my goodness I love this series. Every one of these books get better as they continue and this one did not disappoint. The author developed a intense storyline with twists, surprises, and so many turns. I am ready for more books from this author. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book and write about it for others.

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via netgalley. I love DI Harte so I was soooo excited to go back to Cleevesford. While this is the third book in this series you could read it as a stand-alone.

In this instalment, DI Harte is still struggling with the after-effects of her last case. While battling her own issues of anxiety and guilt she must work out why this young girl has fallen out of a van on this quiet road. I love DI Harte. She is very realistic. She has many issues and is trying to work through them but like any of us sometimes old habits die hard. It would be good to see Gina's relationship whit her daughter grow.

The case was very interesting and did not unravel as I expected. There were quite a few twists and turns. I was definitely surprised by the outcome. The story also showed elements of the gritty world of the homeless that most of us probably ignore on a day to day basis. I also really felt for Julia. I really wanted to take all her pain away.

This was a thrilling case that really captured me and I can't wait to see what DI Harte faces next.

Her Pretty Bones is the third in the DI Gina Harte series, and begins with an emaciated young woman falling from the back of a moving van. Too badly injured to live, she is only able to utter two words to the witness who finds her. “Save her” and with those two words, Gina knows that a clock is ticking on another young woman's life.

Domestic slavery is a subject that's not explored much in fiction, with a lot of human slavery stories focusing on the sexual aspects of such crimes, but it's a crime which certainly isn't confined to the Middle or Far East. The young women in this case think they're being offered legitimate work as carers for a disabled woman with Huntingdon's disease, a condition which in its later stages is often too much for families to cope with.

Instead, the victims end up addicted to heroin and locked in with their patient, their only option to care for her in order to get their next meal… and their next fix.

I found something of a plot hole in the patient not receiving any visits from medical professionals who would have noticed something was wrong: generally it's a condition of continuing to receive disability and carer's pensions that regular medical checkups are made.

Generally, though, this is a good police procedural with some interesting twists and a likeable protagonist in DI Harte. I'll give it four stars.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.

DI Gina Harte is back, ladies and gentleman!! One of my all-time favourite detectives with her fiery personality and fierce determination to get results. Plus, she also wears her heart on her sleeve which, as she has found out on more than one occasion, it's something she shouldn't really make public knowledge incase anyone abuses it. Surely a detective in the police force shouldn't be admitting they have a heart....right?

'Her Pretty Bones' is a firecracker of a read, with a prologue guaranteed to set your pulse racing before anything has really begun. How did the young girl fall from a van? Why was she in there to begin with? Who is she? DI Harte has her work cut out trying to find the answers to such simple yet in this instance, very complex, questions. Of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing and as the storyline progresses, it soon becomes clear that DI Harte wishes she only had the question of 'who is she?' to answer, and not everything else.

I certainly did find this book to be a rollercoaster ride of a read as there were moments where the storyline calmed down a little, then went off on a tangent at rocket speed the next. I didn't find the pace constantly speedy as they were some slow parts (in no way a negative at all as it worked), but it was certainly bumpy which really heightened the urge to know more.

The storyline switches between different points of view which I thought was very cleverly done as I had absolutely no idea who the other point of view was, nor did I have any idea as to how they played a part in the book. Well, I did to a point, but I couldn't connect the dots...if that makes sense? It's safe to say that I was hooked on every single event the storyline had to offer, even if they were a tad disturbing!!

Carla Kovach is a genius at creating intense and spine tingling moments in her storylines, leaving me reeling by every eventuality! I love how the author doesn't just write characters to fill a space, she creates characters who she knows will add another dimension to an already complex storyline, even if its only for one chapter.

'Her Pretty Bones' left my pulse racing and my brain on high alert - it seemed to take ages for my breathing to regulate once I had finished the book. I could NOT have seen the conclusion coming if I tried and wow, what a brilliantly written lead up to a firework of an ending.

Chilling, complex, and off the Richter scale in intensity, 'Her Pretty Bones' is a beautiful book to look at and a phenomenal one to read. What a series!!!! More please?!

I had enjoyed the two previous books in this series, so I was delghted to join Gina Harte & her team again.

A young girl in a very bad state falls out of the back of a van. She is scarcely alive but mutters."Help her!" as she is taken away in an ambulance. When another body is found close be Gina & her time wonder if there is a connection.

Interspersed with Gina's world is another story told by another girl. She is a prisoner, she is an addict & she is trying to take care of a seriously ill woman. Yet another story is a heartbroken mother desperate to find her runaway daughter. The reader knows there must be connections & the author keeps them on their toes working out what those connections are.

This was an enjoyable read. I am beginning to be a bit irritated with Gina though- she really needs to get help to overcome her past!I know it's that past makes her more interesting, but there is the danger that it might become an irritation.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for giving me the chance to read & review this book.

Her Pretty Bones, the third book in the DI Gina Harte series, was ultimately a disappointing read, and despite it having everything you could want in a thriller: secrets, lies, duplicity and deceit, it failed to maintain my attention due to a number of different reasons. It was rather slow-moving and the plot had little to no forward momentum to propel the story forward, so it felt as though we were at a standstill in terms of making much progress. There was also an issue with the amount of times the point of view changed. It switched so many times that you couldn't get to know the characters behind each perspective deeply enough.

In the previous books, which I read and very much enjoyed, I felt like Gina had a lot of potential and the series could possibly have become one of my favourites, but now I'm not so sure. Gina is beginning to get on my nerves, and her constant rumination over the past means that she barely progresses as a character from her introduction to now. This lack of development coupled with her obsession with past happenings certainly doesn't endear her to me or make her a compelling character. However, the author depicts topical issues of homelessness and drug addiction in a real manner which is something I appreciated a lot as many gloss over such problems.

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

This is the third book in this instalment and in the beginning I was a bit worried will I be able to get all the dots, strings and characters from the previous 2 but everything was ok. It works well as a standalone too.
It is a book that has twists and turns that kept me guessing what will happen next and simply kept me as a "hostage" until I finished it.
In short (without giving away some spoilers and ruining another readers experience) the plot is great and the characters are solid built and as I saw in the blurb...unputdownable (spoiler alert....I had to stay awake to finish it!) .
I am going to read the previous books and looking forward of reading next books by Carla Kovach.

This is the third book in the series, I read the second one last year and I was a bit hazy on the storyline this time but when you delve back in I was reminded quite promptly of the characters and what happened. I hold my hands up I have brought the first book but I still need to read it. (Don’t shoot me!)

So DI Harte is thrown back into a new case after the events of the last book. Only just finishing her therapy, is this really the best thing to do? Her relationship with her daughter is still fraught and tempers flare. But nothing matters whilst trying to save the red hair girls!

As you all know I am a book cover hoe and this one drew me in straight away! It was only after I realised it was a Carla Kovach book and the next book of Gina I got really excited!

I try not to rehash the plot when I write my reviews but try and convey in my limited vocabulary my thoughts about the book. Plus it is hard not to divulge too much without giving anything away. This time despite spending most of my life wanted to be a redhead like the boy I’m glad I’m not!! Moving on!

You have Gina, trying to put a stop to the killings before anymore happen. A girl called Mikey caring for an older lady waiting for her next fix. Then, Christina, her daughter has gone missing months before, and she is trying to find her and answers. All woven together in this intense read. Sometimes I found myself a bit confused about who was doing what and when but once I told myself to get a grip the reading was thrilling. It adds to all the twists and turns and to the exciting conclusion. The characters are well developed and you feel like part of the team.

I do love reading a book where you are on edge and fear time will run out and this one is no different. Will Gina and team be able to solve the crimes before it happens again?!

I read this book as a standalone as I had not read books 1 and 2 in the series but it didn’t deter my enjoyment of it. The story begins with a young girl falling out of the back of a van, she is emaciated, bleeding and utters the words ‘help her’. Detective Gina Harte is back and on the case. The girl is in a coma and they cannot identify her as her fingerprints have been burned off. When another body of a young girl is found in a shallow grave, and who looks very similar to the previous girl with the same red hair, and her finger prints have also been burned off, it looks like Gina and her team have a serial killer on the loose and the problem of whether another girl is being kept captive.
There are three threads to this book, the second thread being the story of the disappearance of a young girl Christina and the search being carried out by her family. The third thread is the story of a young girl Mikey who has been recruited to look after a very sick woman. Her reward is getting a daily dose of drugs, but both women are virtual prisoners as they cannot leave the house. Gina, as well as battling to find the killer, has lots of problems in her personal life. She has a very troubled relationship with her daughter and problems also having to work with her ex lover and boss.
I found that the three stories were woven together brilliantly. There are so many twists and turns In this book that will keep you guessing right until the end. I wish I had read the previous two books to have got more insight into Gina Harte’s life but I wasn’t disappointed with the read .
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

A brilliantly written book, an absolutely fantastic read, couldn't put it down! Got into this story straight away, its fast paced, full of descriptive writing, good characters that gel within DI Gina Harte's team. This book covers a couple of sensitive topics but they are handled well and will bring more awareness of this to people's attention.

Early one morning, Toby is driving to a job that he really doesn't want to be doing when a girly suddenly falls from the white van in front of him. Although he's speeding, he manages to stop but is worried in case he has hit her. He calls the emergency services and whilst waiting Toby tries to keep her alive after noticing a large cut in her side that is bleeding quite heavily. He checks to make sure he hasn't hit her but can't see any sign he has and then help arrives to take over. DI Gina and her team get invoived and things hot up when they can't identify her.. Their last hope is the van driver who they try to trace.

I read the last book and this is definitely an author not to miss, she is on my watch list now. Loved this book.

I have Loved this series by Carla Kovach and when this book came out I had to read it.
WoW, What a brilliant book "Her Pretty Bone"s was.
This is the third book in the Detective Gina Harte series and it was just as excellent as her first book. I was hooked within the first few pages and just wanted to spend all day sitting on the comfy chair and dive into the book. Before I knew it it was getting dark outside and I hadn't cooked something for tea!!! So glad I had a pizza in the fridge! (Oops!)

A young girl who was badly bruised and covered in blood falls out of a speeding van early morning, into a path of a moving car. Her last words that was whispered to the gentleman that came to her aid was "Help her" just before she closes her eyes.
Detective Gina Harte was called to the scene to investigate.
A few days later another body is found, of a young girl in a shallow grave in the local woods.
There's some similarity about the two girls, 1. same frail body. 2, roughly the same age 3. they both had red hair.

Is there a serial Killer at large?

Why has he chosen woman with red hair? is there a link?

Where will they strike next?

WoW, what a book! Its gripping throughout and so much going on within this book.
Detective Gina Harte is still dealing with her own demons from her past and her relationship with her daughter.
She is finding work hard-going working with her boss who was her secret ex lover as well.

I highly Recommend this Author and especially this series of books about Detective Gina Harte.

Big 5 stars for this book.......Excellent read. Well Done Carla for another Fantastic book!

Big Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Each book in this series gets more twisted. This one has a mystery involving missing girls and is so full of twists I had to wait for the author reveal to figure it out. Gina Harte is a complex and compelling character. The supporting characters are intriguing and I go back and forth on liking, then hating, some of them. I look forward to more.

Thank you for allowing me to review this title.
I couldn’t believe my luck when i saw that Carla Kovach was releasing a third instalment of the Detective Gina Harte series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two, so was eager to see if book three lived up to its predecessors.
Her Pretty Bones, sees the return of DI Gina Harte, solving yet another missing person/ murder case - As the main character Gina is very credible and a no noncense detective who clearly gives her all to her job,
The book is wonderfully written and easy to follow, despite their being lots of characters in the storyline. It’s a gripping story and keeps you hooked right from the beginning, I read this in a few days it was such a good read and hard to put down, All of the familiar characters that have been in the previous books make a comeback and Gina’s relationship with her superior and her daughter carry on from the last books,
Overall, i would say that the books in this series, just get better and better and this was a very good read, lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing throughout.

Once again, another hit. I just love reading this series. A heart-in-your-mouth, thriller with a host of characters you just love and a killer who you immediately hate.

If you haven't read the first two, then I have to ask why not?! Go get them!

The story was a little slow to get started, but then really caught my interest. The plot was very interesting and kept me guessing until the end. The characters were also very well developed. This is the first book in the series that I've read, and thankfully the narrative wasn't dependant on reading them. There was just enough mentioned to catch you up to speed. I am definitely going to look up the other books.

I haven't had any chance to read any of the other books, but didn't see any problem by jumping to this one.
I liked it, I enjoyed it and think it is a good thriller.

This is a great series that keeps getting better and better.
Gina is still struggling after being attacked in her own home but soon is part of a puzzling investigation where a girl falls out of the back of a van, and is so malnourished they need to find out what happened to her.
Soon a body is found in a shallow grave of another young girl and Gina and the team are tasked with finding out what happened to her as well.
Alongside this story is a mother desperate to find her missing teenage daughter - is this linked to the investigation?
At first you think not but as all the threads come together Gina and the team have a race against time to find the girl.
I love Gina and really feel for her in this book. She’s struggling to cope after the attack and her personal life is also a bit of a mess.
This is a gripping read and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
