I'm a sucker for a romantic suspense and no exception with this one.
Although it's a bit dragging at the beginning, but when the suspense and romance kicked in everything is just awesome.
Love the banter and the action, it's just my cup of tea and I really enjoyed it a lot.

I'm giving Buried Lies a solid 4 stars. I always enjoy a good HEA story. Buried Lies is the second title in the Crimson Point series, this book is a romantic suspense thriller.

When I requested this book I didn't know what to expect. I'll be honest, I saw what appeared to be a military guy on the cover, saw that the book was shelved by many on Goodreads as suspense and military romance, and didn't even bother reading the blurb. And I'm happy I didn't read the blurb, because I went into reading this book with no expectations, no clue what was going to happen, and I think it was the best thing ever. Let me tell you about it!

Reading Buried Lies is like watching an episode of Criminal Minds, with romance sprinkled on top. It's truly an awesome choice for a read if you're into suspense romance, and I for one loved it.

Buried Lies is the story of Poppy and Noah. Poppy is finally free of her childhood bullies, she's starting over a new life, and she's happy for the first time ever. I loved Poppy. She's an amazing heroine, and I loved learning more about her childhood. She's kind, she's a little bit tortured, and I felt like I was seen by her. I liked reading about a character that finds it very hard to let go of the past, even if she's started a new life, and theoretically everything should change. Poppy is so sure, in fact, that everyone in town will hate her now that they know her family history, that she's ready to pack up and leave. Again, I know most people would view this as her being immature, but as someone who unfortunately remembers every painful, horrible high school detail, I felt seen. I was so happy for her when she realized that not everyone is stuck in that high school mentality, and that there are adults out there who view beyond appearances and who understand that sometimes you can't help but play the cards that life gives you.

Noah was one of the people who viewed beyond what the "mean kids" said about Poppy, even beyond what she herself told him. She didn't badmouth herself to him, but she did tell him the worst parts of her life and he never judge her for it. He saw her bad situation for what it was, and Understood that she and her mother were dealt shitty cards, and that they did the best they could in a bad situation. I really liked Noah. Can't point out why exactly, but I really liked him.

The serial killer... Listen. It's very hard for me to enjoy the serial killer storyline in a book. i usually manage to figure out who the killer is pretty fast, and that sort of takes the joy out of everything. But this time I had no idea. I had my eye on someone completely different, so this was SUCH a surprise for me. I really loved that I wasn't able to anticipate who the killer might be, which I always hate when it happens. I totally did not see that coming. And I loved that the author didn't gloss over what Poppy had to go through towards the end of the book. It felt like I truly was in an episode of Criminal Minds, and it's rare that a book manages to capture the same feeling of suspense and fear almost that that show makes me feel each and every time I'm brave enough to watch an episode.

The plot moves along quite fast and I was happy with the pacing. It also helped that the narrator, Jeffrey Kafer, did a fantastic job narrating this book. Honestly, he may be one of my top 3 male narrators at this point. He truly does a great job bringing these characters to life, and the scenes with Poppy in the hands of the madman are just absolutely fantastic, and I could feel Poppy's terror.

I truly enjoyed reading this book and I'm definitely going to be checking out more books by Kaylea Cross.

I absolutely loved this series and never would have guessed the danger that lurked in the background. A definite must read.

She moved to Crimson Point and made a new life for herself, one full of bright possibilities and if Poppy can find the courage to trust again – even her gorgeous neighbor, the town sheriff. Noah can’t help but be intrigued by his new neighbor, she’s hard working, sexy and unlike most of the women in town, she hasn’t thrown herself at him. But darkness lurks in Crimson Point, concealing a deadly threat that’s closer than either of them ever imagined.

The author has created a great community with lots of strong characters that readers can look forward to getting to know which makes a great setting for multiple stories and this one is not only engaging but quite suspenseful and moving as well. The romance between Noah and Poppy has lots of chemistry flowing from the pages as well emotions as Noah tries to win Poppy’s heart who had a very traumatic childhood. Noah is a sexy hero with a tender heart that makes his courtship of Poppy super sweet and very touching.

The plot is fast paced and full of thrilling suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement as Noah has a serial killer case he’s working on with the FBI and then there are exciting events that not only get the juices flowing but helps Poppy become part of the community she wants to fit into. With the danger lurking closer than they know, some surprising twists, the turbulent relationship between another couple and the growing passion between Noah and Poppy, there is never a dull moment and readers will find themselves glued to the pages of this exhilarating read.

Romantic suspense is my favorite genre, and "Buried Lies" hits that spot for me. Noah and Poppy's story had all the elements that make a great read for the genre. Noah, the town's sheriff with a heart of gold, is one of those people that is loved by everyone. Poppy, being new in town, makes friends and fits in quite well, especially with Noah. A slow build in their romance, the drama and suspense kick in with mind numbing horror when it is discovered that a killer is on the loose. Poppy is missing. Finding her in time before the killer completes his work makes this a page turning read. 4.5 Stars! **I received "Buried Lies" from NetGalley & Kobo and leave my review based on my reading**

Poppy Larson has moved to the Oregon Coast to start a new life. After she is there for a while some of the same things begin to happen and she is back to not be able to trust again. This romantic suspense story has the sheriff living next door who is attracted to her and she becomes attracted to him, but they're also someone else from her past out there watching and not wanting anyone to have but him. Some of the scenes were really good and suspenseful and the story moves at a good pace.

Kaylea Cross knows how to deliver a great story. I enjoyed the plot, setting, and characters in Buried Lies. Poppy and Noah made a believable couple, both sweet and vulnerable. Poppy's past was interesting and the bad guy created twists, turns, and suspense. Another enjoyable book from Kaylea!

Noah and Poppy's story had me at the edge of my seat. This is book two in this series and it was just as good as the first one. I also enjoy that this author has chosen to take us on not just the hero and heroine's journey but to take us side by side with some if the sub-character's journey as well. Thus story squeezed my heart in so many ways. I hope the next story is just as great!

Part of the Crimson Point Series . Poppy and Noah find a new future while battling danger from the past. Another keeper.

Ebook from publishers and netgalley with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Poppy settles in Crimson Point and opesn the Whale Tale, a bookstore / coffee shop. Noah is the sheriff who hasn't settled down after his fiance left him. Poppy is running away from her past and worries about the small town's opinion of herself. Poppy wins the town over with her personality and selfless actions. Naturally there is an intense insta-attraction between Poppy and Noah. Throw in a serial killer and there you are.

Found the book to be stereotypical. Poppy's secret comes to light and it was anticlimatic for something that supposedly shaped her. The serial killer action felt like it was more of a plot device than really integral to the story. More a way to bring the characters together in the end.

Not a bad book, but not great either.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Love this author and her books! This story is about Poppy and Sheriff Noah and Poppy has moved to Crimson Point to get away from something in her past. Her neighbor happens to be the sexy and sweet, Sheriff Noah. I loved these two together and really likes that there was minimum angst in their love story. As per Ms. Cross writing style, there was a bit of suspense and of course a HEA for our characters. A great read. 4 stars****

Noah and Poppy's story is fabulous! I loved their romance and the danger that they became a part of, and loved the characters that are developing more in the story. I can't wait to read Molly's story.

I absolutely loved this book. I'm sad I read this title before the first book in the series but I'm definitely reading it next! I am in love with Noah and Poppy's relationship. I appreciate how it developed throughout the book. The suspense was good but was a little too much in the background. At times I forgot about the danger looking around the corner. Overall, I very much enjoyed this title and can't wait to read more of Kaylea's books.

The Baddie. One of the most important elements of a mystery or romantic-suspense plot is how to deal with the Baddie. Do you disclose them up front and build the suspense? Or, do you keep them hidden and build both the suspense and mystery? I, personally, prefer a hidden Baddie and I have no clue who the Baddie is and I love it! The one element of this plot that I didn't like is how Carter, the vet with TBI, was treated. If not for that, this would have been a 5-Star read.

Poppy Larsen has moved to Crimson Point on the Oregon Coast to make it her new home, hoping to leave her past behind. But Fate has a way of following you no matter where you go. She has worked hard to open a new business, establish herself in the community and bought a lovely cottage to make her new home. Her next door neighbor is the hot Sheriff, but she has no plans to make a move in that direction, she just wants the peace and serenity her new life offers.

Sheriff Noah Buchanan is amazed at the amount of work his new neighbor is putting into her new business and home. That she is just as sexy is a plus. Her willingness to give of herself to others just seals the deal and Noah finds himself falling for her. With a suspected serial killer on the loose in the area, Noah is on alert for any danger to his friends or his community, but he just did not see this one coming.
