Opposites definitely DO attract!
Avery and Jason, brought together by a wedding, initially face barriers due to Avery's prejudices that keep her at a distance from Jason.
I admired Jason's persistent efforts to earn Avery's trust and break the mold of past negative experiences she's had with the men in her life. His support and involvement in Avery's passion project only shows his commitment, and won me over for life.
Mostly, I appreciated the genuine growth in Avery's character throughout the story. This sweet, heartwarming, and uplifting story will instill a belief in the power of love!
I haven't read all of Susan Hatler’s books, but this story is one of my absolute favorites. I laughed out loud several times and got teary eyed a few times too. Great character development and what an interesting story line! Highly recommend!
Great and fun romance that kept me smiling and swooning! What a fun read! This book is full of swoon worthy moments and great chemistry! Perfect story that makes you fall in love!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Wedding Catch by Susan Hatler is book two in the Wedding Whisperer series. Available in September of 2014, I confess I'd not read the first book nor any book by Ms Hatler. What a pleasant surprise.
If it weren't for bad luck Avery Summers would have no luck at all. Despite her problems she still manages to be a kind and considerate person. She works in a bakery, is helping her friend and boss plan her wedding and finds time to work for a homeless outreach program. Avery burns her candle at both ends. Her beloved outreach's building is on the verge of being torn down. It's Avery to the rescue.
Jason Morgan is a handsome, rich, nice guy. In other words he's perfect. He's in town for his cousins wedding, who happens to be Avery's friend/boss. Avery ropes Mr. Nice-Hot, guy into helping her on an adventure that just might keep the building out of a developers hands. Jason's harboring a secret that potentially could break their budding relationship into a million pieces. Can honesty and forgiveness save the day and our couple? I'll let you find out for yourself. Happy reading.

Such a cute, fun story! I enjoyed the characters and the story. Read the book in one sitting. Will definitely be looking for more books from this author.
A chick lit but with more substance. A good plot with great characters. Worth reading and definitely enjoying.

When Avery Summers finds out the homeless outreach program where she volunteers is about to lose their building to a big developer, she’s determined to help. Unfortunately, she also has to juggle her job at a bakery, help her friend plan her upcoming wedding, and deal with a sudden flurry of dinner invitations by the bride’s cousin, a man she’d normally jump at the chance to date. It’s too bad he reminds her of the stepfather who abandoned her and her mother, causing Avery to be homeless as a child.
Unfortunately this was a DNF for me... 🥺 which was a shame. I’ve read other books from Sarah Hatler and have really enjoyed them. I think this reason for the DNF was due to Avery and her interaction with Jason. Her constant need to keep him at a distance and that the story plot was a little too busy. Jason was charming and adorable, I loved his character but also felt like he was constantly having to prove himself to Avery.
I thought Avery (the heroine) was super sweet but I wasn't crazy about the hero. He spent a bit too long as a selfish jerk.
Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Swoon worthy and really loved this. Had me interested in these characters and liked every minute of the story. Must read
Always a fan of a Susan Hatler novel, I was not disappointed in this fun, romanctic, read to excape story that had me entertained to the end. Definitely for a romance junkie.
The Wedding Catch is a charming story of a Cinderella variety. I just mean in that it's a rich guy poor girl connection. Granted, it's not very realistic, but it's fun to read. It's a great romcom read which I happen to love. Cute and silly and lovely. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I love this author! Her books are spunky, sassy, and a lot of fun! Great one day read or beach vacation entertainment.
The absolute first thing that caught me about this book is that the heroine was homeless. She has a job and is looking for a place, but at the start of the book she is homeless and living in the back office of her work. She also was homeless for a time as a child when she and her mother were living in their car. Obviously this was incredibly impactful for me and I feel like the author did well in describing some of the feelings of shame that accompany homelessness. It also makes Avery’s work with the formerly homeless families all the more meaningful.
Aside from the impact the underlying plot had for me, I enjoyed the romance as well. Avery isn’t looking for marriage or love and originally turns Jason down when he asks her out. Jason is sweet, helpful, and rich… which means there can be no future between them, at least that’s what she thinks. While this is an insta-love kind of story, it feels a little more like a slow burn, as the characters interact as friends first.
I truly enjoyed the characters and plot lines in this story. It’s a shorter read, so was super quick.
Very nice cute book. Not sure a young, hot guy, who drives a Ferrai would walk into a small bakery, become immediately attracted to the gal behind the counter and peruses her would ever happen. Like any romantic chic lit, the storyline is sweet, heartwarming and worth reading.
3.5☆
Cute
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
Part of a series: The Wedding Whisperer
Standalone
HEA
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I've loved Ms. Hatler's books and so I grabbed at the opportunity to read this freebie. The story started out intriguing but spiraled down from that point on.I failed to feel any emotional connection between Avery and Jason past the point of his first offer of a date.Avery's thoughts concerning the gold mine and their subsequent actions were reckless and ill-advised.The best parts of this book were probably Avery's interactions with her BFF.Sadly,I would not recommend this book unless you had nothing else to do.
Exactly as expected. A quick easy read, few bumps thrown in. She is the one with walls for a change. He's keeping secrets which aren't hard to figure out. But overall a lighthearted story with a little wedding bliss through into the mix
Avery and Jason find their own HEA!
Avery has had a string of bad luck in her life and in relationships. Her latest boyfriend dumped her because she has walls up! Meanwhile, she loses her apartment and is secretly living in the office at the bakery where she works. When her best friend and boss tells her she is getting married in a couple weeks, and asks Avery to be her bridesmaid, Avery can’t say no (although she doesn’t believe in love or marriage).
Then Jason (her boss’ cousin) pops into the bakery, there for business and for the wedding. Jason wants to take Avery on a date, but she’s seen guys like him before and isn’t interested. Eventually, he wears her down, and she starts to spend time with him, learning he’s not what she thought! He spends time with her at her charity Founding Friendships, and helps with wet and dirty jobs. For a man who drives a Ferrari, he’s not what Avery expected at all!
And then they learn that the building which houses Founding Friendships is being sold out from under the folks who need it most! With some mystery, a solution is found! And behind it all is Jason! Avery has to open her mind and heart to see what’s been right in front of her!
This was a good book, easy, fast read. I felt that the characters of Avery and Jason could be expanded to give this book more “feels”, but I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Susan Hatler.
I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and Entangled Publishing. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
This didn't work for me at all I'm afraid. For some reason I just didn't like the heroine, Avery. Though she had her reasons, she came across as intolerant and judgemental which didn't work for me at all. I was left feeling that, although she came to her senses by the end, the hero, Jason could have done better. Not an ideal point of view in a romance really.

The Wedding Catch by Susan Hatler is book Two in The Wedding Whisperer series. This is the story of Jason Morgan and Avery Summers. I have not yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Avery had a very tough time of it from the start, but it doesn't stop her from wanting to help others. Her biggest softness is for the homeless since that hits home for her. But she is just a nice person to everyone and works hard to run her bakery, in addition she is working on helping with a wedding. Jason has been working to get Avery to go out with him and see him for something other than the money he has...that he is a good person too. Avery has a new mission to save the homeless shelter so when Jason tries again to have her go out with him, she throws down the option to help her at the homeless shelter. Then she gets him to start helping her save the shelter until she finds out who is really wanting the shelter.
This is my first book but this author....but I hope to read more since I thoroughly enjoyed it!
