Dear Wife was a crazy, crafty, very enjoyable read! I think it would make an incredible audio book, and I just might have to check version out if one is released!
BETTER than Gone Girl! which, yes!! it should be compared to!!!
Plot was better, and instead of being a sick description of back-and-forth awful behavior, characters actually had redeeming qualities and a purpose.
Some language but not a million F-bombs like GG had.
Don't want to give away too much but you are left guessing a lot about the main character(s) and how they all interrelate.
I didn't want to stop reading as it kept me guessing and kept my attention.
Highly recommend as a great thriller!
I received a free advanced copy as a professional reviewer via NetGalley. I review all books with the same criticism regardless of the price I paid. This one happens to actually be a 5 star in my opinion.
I read this book a few months ago and have been eagerly waiting until closer to publishing to tell you about it. From the very beginning, I loved this story. I was captivated by the plot and the writing and I honestly couldn’t put this down. I usually read at night and of course, I read past my bedtime and then sat on the couch the next day and didn’t put this down until the last page. WOW.
As I have mentioned, it takes a lot to surprise me in a book, I can usually anticipate how things are going to roll out but in this case, I was surprised. Hat tip to the author for an incredible job!
Beth Murphy is on the run…
For nearly a year, Beth has been planning for this day. A day some people might call any other Wednesday, but Beth prefers to see it as her new beginning–one with a new look, new name and new city. Beth has given her plan significant thought, because one small slip and her violent husband will find her.
Sabine Hardison is missing…
A couple hundred miles away, Jeffrey returns home from a work trip to find his wife, Sabine, is missing. Wherever she is, she’s taken almost nothing with her. Her abandoned car is the only evidence the police have, and all signs point to foul play.
As the police search for leads, the case becomes more and more convoluted. Sabine’s carefully laid plans for her future indicate trouble at home, and a husband who would be better off with her gone. The detective on the case will stop at nothing to find out what happened and bring this missing woman home. Where is Sabine? And who is Beth? The only thing that’s certain is that someone is lying and the truth won’t stay buried for long.
Dear Wife needs to be on your MUST READ list, especially if you enjoy suspense and thrillers. Pre-Order here.
Kimberly Belle hits it outta the park again. Beth leaves a little town in Arkansas fleeing an abusive spouse. She has spent a lot of time coming up with a plan to not be found by him. This is a great psychological thriller and as someone who was married to an abusive man, it rings very true. A quick read and one I enjoyed a lot.
Beth is on the run from her abusing husband, Jeffrey can't find his wife Sabine, and Marcus the police detective is hard on the trail of the missing wife. Don't assume anything through the twists and turns of the story. Heed the well developed characters conversations, body language, interactions with each other and don't assume anything. Who are all these characters, and how do they relate to the story? The book can't be put down and will just maybe leave you gaping when Belle leads you to her twisty conclusion.
Kimberly Belle is one of my favorite authors for good reason. Pulse-pounding suspense, strong female characters and unexpected twists permeate from her latest suspense. Belle uses all the ingredients to captivate her readers right up to the last page. I figured out the main twist about halfway through but I loved the conclusion.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Park Row and Kimberly Belle for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I like this author so I was excited to read her new book.
It did not disappoint either!
The character development was good and I immediately cared about all of the main characters.
I knew we were headed down a twisty trail and I welcomed it. I was not able to put together the connection before it was unveiled and that is always a nice surprise so, don't try and guess.
Thank you for letting me read it and I did it in 2 sittings because the pace was perfect as well.
I was given an ARC by Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Like all of Belle’s books, this one is twisty, gripping, and well-written. The characters have distinct voices, and the pacing is taut. A perfect beach read!
The story is told by Beth, Jeffrey (Sabine’s husband) and Marcus the detective working the case of the missing women. Beth has been planning to leave her violent husband for a while. She has changed her name and put a pretty foolproof plan in effect. But this detective is very very good...And Beth feels him getting closer.
This really was a page turner - although I felt it did drag a little in the middle - but the ending was wonderful.
Thanks to NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review
Sabine, a successful real estate broker, has disappeared without a trace and her sister suspects Sabine’s husband is to blame. Sabine’s marriage was in shambles and she had tried to escape Jeffrey’s abuse before. Once the police get involved, it looks like Jeffrey may have killed his wife.
Beth is on the run from her abusive husband. She has devised an intricate plan to throw her husband off her scent and it seems to be working, at least for a while. However, Beth can’t run forever. She has to eventually interact with other people, and new people present new problems. As soon as she rests in one spot, it looks like the past may catch up with her.
Dear Wife is my favorite Kimberly Belle novel so far. All her novels are great, but this one really grabbed me by the throat and kept me guessing. I’ve read bookshelves of psychological thrillers and mysteries over the years, so I can usually pick up on the clues, but Kimberly Belle managed to subtly drop bread crumbs that made sense in the end without giving anything away. For a large section of the novel, Belle leads you down the primrose path to what looks like a happy ending for dear Beth, then spins you around until you’re dizzy.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of the novel.
This book kept me guessing the entire time I was reading it. It is told from a few different perspectives - Beth (not her real name as she is on the run), Jeffrey (husband that discovers his wife Sabine is missing), and Marcus (the detective involved in the case). I could understand the pain that Beth was going through and how she felt she needed to escape from her life, so it was easily to sympathize with her pain and struggle. Jeffrey and Marcus show us a man's perspective of marriage and love.
I knew that everything would be revealed by the end, but it was hard to stop reading and not think about this book. It was an emotional roller coaster and a true thriller. I really enjoyed this book. The story was great, with a lot of twists, and the characters were multi-dimensional helping pull the reader in to the book.
Before Dear Wife, I had never read anything by Kimberly Belle. She is obviously a talented author, and this is a good story. The narrators are a wife on the run, a husband looking for a wife and a cop looking for a missing woman. Are they connected? The story is sharp, tense and unpredictable. It's a satisfying psychological thriller that will keep you up all night. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle is an amazing suspenseful thriller. This will be the 3rd book I have read by this author and in my opinion is her best book yet! I had a theory of who was who and what was going on but I was completely wrong - she managed to take my theory and twist it all out of shape. Don't think that this book is just about an abused woman running away from her husband -Belle ramps that plot up and will keep you on the edge of your seat guessing what will happen next. My list of must-read authors has just increased with the addition of Kimberly Belle to the top of my list. This book is published on June 25, 2019 and is a must read for fans of thriller/suspenses novels. I give this book 5 solid stars!
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley, Park Row and Kimberly Belle for an ARC ebook copy to review. As always, an honest review from me.

Overall, a thriller/suspense novel that finally kept my attention throughout. A terrible topic, but the author turned it into a great read!
Wow—this is one of the best books I’ve read in quite awhile! You should have seen my jaw absolutely DROP at a few of the twists in this book. It will be impossible to stop reading once you start, so plan accordingly! I loved it!
Seasoned thriller readers will figure out what’s up halfway through the story, but it was still a fun ride. Definitely a piece of commercial fiction. I had fun reading this, though I don’t think it would make my top 10 thriller list of 2019. Writing is good, plot is too predictable.
Thanks to NetGalley and HARLEQUIN for the advanced copy for review. This story was very interesting and engaging. From the first sentence it was entertaining and interesting. This is one of those books that you cant read right before bed without risking staying up all night just to find out what happens in the end. Great story!
This is a an intense read that is very well written and will hook you from the start. I enjoyed the fast pace and the twist; definitely recommend!
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I have read by Kimberly Belle and it will not be the last! This is a psychological thriller told from multiple points of view. The different points of view make the book even more interesting. I had a hard time putting this one down. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of domestic thrillers.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Once again another book I have loved by Kimberly Belle. I loved hearing two views of the same story through the wife and husband.
