I thought this was a great book with high interest for struggling readers. More important it was a good story, showing how the things we don’t want to face can be just what we need to deal with.
Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
very good exploration of fear paralysis and building relationships. the main character had lot of self awareness for her age and the family dynamics explored were sweet and realistic.
Mary Is nicknamed Roonie . Her family is getting ready to see her Gram at the nursing home. Roonie is not going because she only has 2 days off school and would rather practice her hip hop dance moves.Mary's gram loves having her visit and misses seeing her . Rooney hasn't been to the nursing home in months .Rooney needs volunteer hours to graduate and chooses a dance studio.Instead of the dance studio Roonie receives a placement at hospital with geriatric unit.Roonie has a instant connection with the belly dancer in room 555.I liked Roonie from the beginning and wished she would spend more time with her gram.I thought it was interesting that she enjoyed hip hop dancing.Roonie is beautiful if cover is any indication.Roonie has dance competition coming up and another set of girls.steal her routine . Roonie tells the woman in 555 everything about her life. A quick read.
