My self-care routine has been significantly lacking, and I want to start from a naturally derived path. I want something that makes sense for my life and my body. Often when I'm working on changing my patterns, I push too hard at first. The Ayurvedic Self-care Handbook gave great ways to adjust your routine without pushing yourself over an edge. It's a great place to start if you are looking for an Ayurvedic routine. The book is straight forward, provides a reasonable basis for each of the changes that it's asking for and it's got several steps to take. Each aspect of the book is positive and encouraging for anyone that wants to create a healthy lifestyle.

The Ayurvedic Self-Care Handbook is insightful, inspiring, and one that I plan to turn to for guidance throughout the years to come. I graduated as a Registered Nurse from a traditional Bachelors of Science Nursing program at a University. In school I learned a lot of health and medical information but did not learn very much about Ayurvedic medicine as it is related to nature and not clinically based. However, it has always been something that fascinated me, and I have seen friends of mine benefit substantially from the practice. I went into this book with an open mind knowing that it would not always align with the medical instruction I received in school, but could be just as valuable in its own right. Thus, I wholeheartedly enjoyed gaining knowledge about Ayurvedic philosophies and exploring what I can implement in my life in order to experience optimal health and happiness. A wonderful element of this book is that is poses engaging “self-study” questions throughout the chapters that help the reader reflect on the information and create a deeper connection to the text. I recommend this book to anyone desiring to discover how to unlock an alternative realm of health promotion that focuses on nature and the individual person rather than mainstream practice. If you want to gain balance in life and feel good, then this book is for you.
