Jesus talked a lot about the end times. Maybe I'm so used to hearing sermon after sermon in church about the popular or "easy teachings" of Jesus that I didn't realize how much He talked about the future. In this book Ron Rhodes doesn't take all the prophetic passages from other parts of the Bible such as Ezekiel, Daniel, and the Pauline letters, but just examines what Jesus had to say about these times via the Gospels and Revelation. This is not a "sensational" book, full of wild-eyed sweeping predictions and visualizations, but a thorough examination of what Jesus talked about in regards to the future.

Rhodes takes these passages and talks about possible interpretations, and gives his opinion on which he thinks is correct and why. He isn't dogmatic or pushy in his approach, just matter-of-fact in explaining each passage. I felt like I gained some new insights into many of these passages and was able to make more sense of some that I have never been clear about, and as such would make a good reference.

In this book 'we’ve explored Jesus’s prophecies on the rapture, the tribulation period, the second coming, the various judgments, the millennial kingdom, the intermediate state, and the eternal state. We’ve also looked at a variety of prophetic parables, including the well-known parable of the fig tree. We’ve gleaned many insights from Jesus’s prophetic olivet discourse, a variety of other prophetic teachings from Jesus as recorded in the four Gospels, as well as the book of Revelation, mostly chapters 4 through 22.'.
In the final 2 chapters we look at the seven churches at the beginning of Revelation.
This book covers a lot of issues from the Pre-tribulation viewpoint while making his attitudes clear to all even the beginner.
A worthwhile read to those interested in this subject.
I was given this book by Netgalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

This is really an in-depth explanation of things a lot of people want to know but are afraid, or are not sure who, to talk to about it--the End Times.
Very well presented and deeper study is available if the scriptures (included) are studied along with this. This is a map of our future.

Prophecy can be confusing and controversial. Did you know that a large section of Jesus’ teachings, while He was here on earth, was about the future? Do you know what He said? Is it important? Rhodes wants us to understand what Christ is telling us. He also wants us to see that every word Christ said is vitally important.
First, though, he understands that we have to know what Christ said; so he carefully collates Christ’s teachings from the Gospels and Revelation. He expands on that with other verses from both the Old and New Testament, to further explain the Biblical teachings on the Last Days, the Rapture, the Tribulation, the Millennium, and final Judgement, and Eternity. That was a good, if brief, introduction to the study of Biblical prophecy both personal and general.
Several sections specifically address the controversy over the meaning of some of the parables. He explains several different views, and then explains why he believes the way he does. I may not agree with all of his conclusions, but many of them were very insightful.
Finally, he teaches us from the first chapters of Revelation, the letters to the seven churches, what our duties are in these final days. That part was very personally convicting and encouraging.
I found the use of the New Living Translation distracting. I wish they had used a literal translation instead of a dynamic equivalence translation. It draws my attention away from what the author is trying to say, and I feel that I should look up what it says in another translation.
I received this as a free ARC through NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers. No favorable review was required, and it was my pleasure to provide my honest opinions.

This book is a very comprehensive study about Jesus and the End Times. It is up to the reader to determine their depth of study. It can be read and understood without researching the scriptures that always accompany the text. For a deeper study, the scriptures add to the richness of the subject matter. It is also a reference to return to many times as the reader matures as a Christian. The section on the rapture was of particular interest to me. I had always been told that Jesus never talked about the rapture, but it appears that Jesus gave us the first revelation of the rapture in the book of John. I am still digesting a lot of the information in the book and will continue to for a long time.

In this insightful book, Bible scholar Ron Rhodes gives us a comprehensive and in-depth look at the end-times, using key teachings of Jesus from both the Old and New Testaments. Rhodes explores everything about the end-times systematically from Jesus' prophecies on the rapture, the rapture, the tribulation, prophetic parables, the second coming, the intermediate and eternal state, and the seven churches. Each chapter is written in a concise and clear manner, with numerous bible references (in which I appreciate it tremendously). I learnt a lot from this book and it has certainly deepened my understanding on eschatology, especially the chapter on intermediate state - an eye-opener for me! Another thing that I really appreciate about this book is how Rhodes will recap each chapter by putting the key points in a bullet-point list, making it easy to remember and understand. Overall, this book is definitely a valuable resource for learning about eschatology. It is a well-written and a biblically sound and safe book to read.

Ron Rhodes has comprehensively reviewed the New and the Old Testament Scriptures related to Jesus and the End Times. A brief review would not give the book justice. Ron has covered many commonly known facts and also highlighted multiple interest points that have not been so well thought through in the past; known causing the reader to ponder and give praise and worship to the Lord Jesus Christ. He highlights the tragedy if one dies as a non believer and the joy that one will experience as a believer of Christ covering the sequence of expected events. Ron encourages Christians to focus on their destiny; heaven and not to be distracted by things of this world. A definite read for those interested in End Times and Christs life.
