Can I have another one? Well this book is sweet and everything you want. I wish it was a little longer. But that's always a bonus when I say that. It means I just didn't want it to end.

This is part of the same series Melonie Johnson did early. We have women who are friends deciding to take an adventure. They went to Scotland and one of the women found her love. Now we have another who is at the stage where she thinks she is marrying the right man, only to have a Brit cross her path and make questions happen for everyone.

Jane Austen, Love, angst and HEA

Another fun read! We first met Bonnie and Theo in the first book in this series, Getting Hot With The Scot, and now, a year later, Bonnie is still with her fiance waiting for Gabe to finish his PhD when she walks in on him and is devastated and runs off. Who does she run into but Theo, who she met the previous summer. He is happy to rescue her and help her feel better for a bit. Bonnie needs a new plan and lucky for her she has been offered a summer job in England. So, with a summer fling and friends with benefits role until Bonnie finds out something about Theo that makes her run back to Chicago. These two are truly meant for each other and Theo is not going to let Bonnie run away from him but can he convince her he is worth it? I am thoroughly enjoying this series. You don't necessarily have to read the first book but that one was so good too!

Smitten by the Brit will always hold a special place in my heart! All of the Jane Austen and Anne of Green Gables references had me remembering why I fell in love with books so long ago. Bonnie and Theo are from two different worlds, but when they're together, where they come from doesn't matter. Throw in a meddlesome sister and you have a wonderful romance that'll have you wondering how there will possibly be a happy ending. I loved this story and will definitely be reading it again soon!

We were first introduced to Bonnie and Theo in the first book in the series and I have so been looking forward to their story! At the time Bonnie had been engaged to her middle school boyfriend Gabe for over a year, however they had not set a date for their wedding. There were some hints in the first book that all was not well between them, but while Bonnie and Theo shared an attraction at the time it did not go any farther. Bonnie has since returned to Chicago until one night when she discovers Gabe in their bed with another woman.

Unbeknownst to Bonnie, Theo is also in town to attend a charity event with a woman his mother is trying to push on him. As the Duke of Emberton she feels it is his responsibility to marry well to prevent the estate from falling into bankruptcy. Theo has known this and accepted that his life is not entirely of his decision; he must do what is best for his family and their legacy. But come on, we all know Bonnie is going to throw a wrench in these plans, right??

When Bonnie is offered the chance to teach a summer seminar on Shakespeare at Cambridge, she gratefully accepts knowing that she can leave the mess with Gabe behind her. She will also have a chance to see Theo again, though after a tryst is cut short in Chicago due to her, um, lack of knowledge of certain sexual activities she is also dreading facing him. (And may I say the scene in the cafe where Ana decides to educate her on the manuever is one of the funniest things I’ve read all year!) Now Bonnie and Theo are both back in merry old England, and they decide to embark on a ‘friends with benefits’ fling, but they both soon find out that it is impossible to leave feelings out of the mixture.

I thought this second outing in the series was just as strong as the first, and I’m really enjoying the mix of humor and heat that Melonie infuses into the stories. If I may be honest, Theo might just rank a little higher than Logan on my book boyfriend list! While yes, Logan has the kilt there’s just something about this particular Brit that I find more endearing!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this early!

I really loved this. Bonnie and Theo are such great characters who really compliment each other well. And as a fellow Austen lover I adore that Theo is such a great British gent toward Bonnie, and that she has a chance to live out some of her book-related dreams.

This book is super fun and I could not put it down. Highly recommend this!

Loved this story! Bonnie and Theo are amazing characters we first met in Getting Hot with the Scot. Their story was fun, flirty, and completely entertaining. Bonnie who thought she had her life all planned out finds herself looking for a new path and a fresh beginning. When an opportunity to teach in London for the summer comes up she sees it as a sign and agrees. That's how she is reunited with Theo Wharton, the dashing Brit she met on her vacation last year. It's soon starts to feel like this summer could definitely be the fun time she's been seeking. It actually could turn out being so much more if she'll just go for it!

I really enjoyed this book and think you will too. I definitely recommend it.

Smitten by the Brit by Melonie Johnson is the second steamy book in the Sometimes in Love series. Having read the first book, Getting Hot with the Scot, I was familiar with Bonnie and Theo, so was looking forward to their story. Fortunately, it did not let me down, I was drawn in right from the beginning and did not want to put the book down until the end. I sometimes found Bonnie's annoyance with Theo's chivalry to be stupid, but I was happy when she finally realized it was not so bad that he was a gentleman. I really enjoyed that the characters from book one played a prominent role in this book, so was able to continue their stories. This could be read as a standalone, but the books are super easy reads, so I would read them all, it is more fun that way! Looking forward to book three.

Smitten by the Brit by Melonie Johnson is book Two in Sometimes in Love Series. This is the story of Theo Wharton and Bonnie Blythe. I have read the previous book and we did meet Bonnie and Theo in that book, but if you want you can make this a standalone book.
Bonnie has broken up with the man she thought she would marry and has settled to just enjoy a Mr. Right now. Theo has several things he has going on for his family as we learn more of his background. But they are attracted to each other and think a hot fling would be what they need.
But feelings become engaged.

Pretty basic. LOTS of literary references. And, the attempt at creating accents was annoying. Not a bad story, just nothing special.

A new author to me, I dove right in and picked up three of her books. If the next two are similar, I will enjoy them as well.

A light summer read about a group of friends who jet off to Europe for a week of fun and frolic. Cute guys aside, Bonnie Blythe had no plans for any random hook up because she had a steady boyfriend at home just waiting for her to return. Until she caught him cheating when she got back home. An opportunity to teach in the UK was too good to pass up so she jetted off for the summer. Enter cute guy from the vacation and the story goes from there! A fun read with some twists and turns but the HEA in inevitable!

I tried to read this book but it just didn't keep my attention.

I know some will enjoy this one but it just wasn't for me I guess or maybe I am just in a reading slump.

A cute story that starts out a little slow but picks up.
Fully developed and has a happily ever after.
Can be read as a standalone

"Smitten by the Brit" was super cute and I liked it even better than the first book in this series. Theo and Bonnie were great secondary characters in "Getting Hot with the Scot," but I found them to be even more likeable as the stars of this book. There were certainly obstacles for them to overcome on the way to their HEA, but I found it impossible not to root for them to find a way to be together.

Both Theo and Bonnie were sympathetic and well-developed characters. I really felt for Theo because there was so much pressure on him to take care of his family, their estates, and everyone who depended on the estates for their livelihoods. To my modern American sensibilities, it seemed like such an antiquated way of thinking; these were the sorts of expectations one might have had of an 18th or 19th century duke, but surely not today, right? However, tradition was clearly still very important to Theo's family and others of his social class in England. I had to admire Theo for trying so hard to do the right thing even if it meant giving up his chance at happiness with Bonnie. Thankfully, he was able to find an alternative solution in the end so that the two of them could be together.

As for Bonnie, it was a lot of fun watching her come out of her shell over the course of the story. I hated seeing her basically be Gabe's doormat in the first book. She made so many sacrifices for him and didn't deserve the way he took her for granted. I loved that Bonnie was able to rediscover her passion for writing and figure out a way to pursue it as a career. Bonnie's efforts to explore in other parts of her life also led to some wonderful laugh out loud scenes, particularly the one with the popsicles in the bridal shop. I will never be able to look at a popsicle (or a fruit roll up) the same way again!

At any rate, I am very much looking forward to book #3 in this series, which will feature Cassie and Bonnie's friend Sadie, the aspiring actress. I really hope there are plans for Ana and Delaney to get books of their own after that! I have enjoyed getting to know each of these girls with their distinct personalities, and really appreciate how much they love and support each other through thick and thin. (I wouldn't complain about a book featuring Theo's sister Tabitha either...)

Smitten by the Brit is book two in the series. I really liked it. I loved Bonnie and Theo. They had great chemistry and were perfect together! Looking forward to reading more in this series!

This second in the series can be read as a standalone, but would be better with the background of the first book, Getting Hot with the Scot.

Bonnie has always felt like she’s living in a novel – most often she stars in her fantasies as Anne of Green Gables, but occasionally wandering into Jane Austen territory. Theo has lived so long knowing his duty, he doesn’t even dare dream. They meet in the first book, but Bonnie is engaged, so nothing happens between them.

In this book, thanks to their friends getting married, they are brought back together. Bonnie learns that while dreams are fine, actually living life is better, and sometimes too much planning is as bad as not enough. Theo has to work his way through the overwhelming responsibility and pressure he’s lived with his whole life, to come to a place where he believes he’s free to choose happiness. It’s a long, complicated trip from Chicago to the UK and back before the pair can get to their happy.

I absolutely loved Bonnie and Theo, and their story is very sweet – two good-hearted people surmounting the obstacles and winning through to love. However, I felt that there was far too much time spent on Theo’s physical reaction whenever he was near Bonnie; it got tedious, and it slowed the pace of a story that already didn’t have a great deal of action. This is a good book for reading in small bits over several days, but it’s not going to keep most people up all night. I received an advance copy in return for my honest review.

Oh Bonnie. I love her passion for literature and the ability to deliver quotes from Shakespeare and Jane Austen at just the right moment is captivating. She has a plan and now that Gabe proposed, she wants to move forward with wedding planning but then she gets a shock and terminates the engagement. She is suddenly free and a little lost. All her plans are fizzling. An opportunity presents itself to spend the summer at Cambridge teaching and she grabs it. At the same time, Theo comes back into her world which stirs feelings she’s never had. Can she give up on love? Or will love find her in an unexpected way? Theo is dreamy. What a perfect gentleman even though many of his manners are lost on the independent women in his life. He never gives up on his upbringing and beliefs. When he bumps into Bonnie again, well, he is captivated just like the first time. Then the unthinkable happens and Bonnie is single. Now, Theo has a problem, he is Duke and must save the families legacy which has his mother pushing for a match that will bring money to infuse the family funds. Will Theo risk it all for true love? Or bow down to family pressure? I love this series. What a great group of friends with incredibly fun and sexy stories to share. As we experience each couples journey, we get to spend time with the entire crew. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

4 Sweet Sassy and Sexy Stars!!

This is the second book in this series and I remember thinking when I was reading Getting Hot with the Scot that I can't wait to see what happens between Theo and Bonnie especially since I had a really bad feeling about her fiancée Gabe and I was so right about those feelings!!

Bonnie is back in Chicago and has just found out Gabe has been cheating on her and the wedding is OFF! Theo happens to be in town for business and what's better than having a friends with benefits type arrangement for a few days to get the bad taste of Gabe out of her mouth, than getting busy with this sexy, suave and oh so handsome man?

I loved these two together. I mean who doesn't love a British accent and an amazing lover that makes sure Bonnie gets EVERYTHING she needs between the sheets? The problem though is that it starts to become more and Bonnie isn't sure she wants to trust her heart to another man again. And no one can blame her! And Theo has a sticky problem with his mom that makes all her questions valid!

I'm so enjoying this series, these characters and Ms. Johnson's writing. Her attention to detail is amazing and I can feel everything the characters are feeling. These women are friends that are there for each other through thick and thin and when love comes calling for them, they're so happy for each other and ready to celebrate all the happiness with each other. I can't wait to read Sadie's story!
