What happens when a quirky English professor whose life plans just got shattered, has the opportunity to live other life dreams with a gorgeous English nobleman by her side? A sexy brit who just happens to be as captivated by her as she is by him? Bonnie Blythe thought she would be planning her wedding this summer, but instead of a bride, she's become a bride's maid. After finding her fiancé in bed with someone else, Bonnie takes off without a thought. As her friends come to her rescue, she finds herself staying at the same hotel as Theo, her best friend's fiancé's best man. The same Theo who has quickened Bonnie's heart ever since they first met. With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. He could be exactly who she needs to share a hot summer fling with, as long as her heart is protected. But as their friends with benefits relationship evolve, Bonnie soon finds herself falling in love with Theo... Theo knows Bonnie could be it for him, except his responsibilities to his family will never let that happen. Better to just enjoy whatever time they have before he needs to pay the piper... But what happens when love happens and responsibilities come calling? The second installment in the Sometimes in Love series is charming, sexy, funny, swoon-worthy, and most definitely classy! Melonie Johnson surely knows who to keep the romance and laughs coming! I look forward to meeting the Bad Boy of the series next...

I just couldn’t get into this book. I really wanted to love it and looking at other reviews I think I’m in the minority. I’m not sure i can put my finger on why I didn’t love it. There were a lot of times the previous book was mentioned (I had no idea it was a sequel but the way it was written it was clear that it was) and I found the style of writing quite immature.

This book started out good, but it didn't develop well. The characters fell flat and didn't have depth. They felt pretty one dimensional. I couldn't really bring myself to root for them.

Been putting off this book for a while. After reading “Hot with the Scot”, I was a bit skeptical about continuing this series. This one was a bit better. Theo is a thoroughly more likable hero than Logan...until he wasn’t. For somebody so well mannered, to completely ghost on a woman he cares about just to appease his snobby mother? No thanks. We don’t even get a very good apology on Theo’s part for the ghosting. I’m not sure what Johnson’s thing is with men not properly groveling. She also seems out of touch with the idea of culture clash. Theo is not just a well mannered Brit, he acts like he’s from another planet and that he doesn’t “understand” Americans at. This is the 21st century and with social media and pop culture, I’m sure he could would KNOW what Disney movies where. This ended up being one of my favorite tropes “forbidden love” but I’m appalled with the classism shown by Theo’s mother. Not that classism isn’t a real thing that still exists today...but this was written after two royal weddings....It also didn’t make sense that you would give a tyrant mother cancer just as cheap attempt to make her more sympathetic. Theo also never apologized for just sitting by and letting his mother insult Bonnie! I love the idea behind this book, but I felt more eye rolls than happy moments.

I liked this book much better than the first book in the series. In this book you have Bonnie Blythe and Theo Wharton and I feel there was a better connection between these two than there was with the first book. Cute and light fluffy read which is what I was needing at the time.

After reading Getting Hot With the Scot, the first book in this series, I was really looking forward to Bonnie and Theo's story. It exceeded expectations. Both characters are sweet, smart, and kind. I loved the literary references and banter. Johnson's voice is strong and clear and utterly charming. She's definitely a one-click author for me.

We met Bonnie and Theo in the first book. Bonnie is a English professor who is engaged to her childhood sweetheart and Theo is a duke who is in situation wherein is mother is forcing him to marry for money. Bonnie and Theo start of with friends with benefits and fall in love overcoming all odds. There are lots of literary reference and quotes. We also see Cassie's and Logan's wedding (characters from the first book)

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC

This book was good, but nothing made it stand out. I loved the characters and the way the story flowed, but it was a typical romance novel. It wasn’t steamy; it only showed kisses and that’s as far as it went. Definitely a PG-13 novel. Also, a very good beach or vacation read.

Would I recommend it? yes

Would I read the rest of the series? yes , in fact I have book 3 left to read and review.

Would I read more by this author? maybe

Just like the first book in the series ,it was cute and adorable with moments that will have you smelling, in fact its like your watching a movie but not just any movie a Hallmark movie and all is missing is your bowl of popcorn and your tissues. Its the perfect reading when you want something to be light, and funny but also a bit hot and steamy, with a story line that just flows together so well that it just pulls you into and that comes to live, with characters that will become your new favorite ones and one character that you will hate but over all the heat knows what or I should said who it wants. With that said i want to thank NetGalley for letting me read and review it.

Fresh off a broken engagement, Bonnie Blythe heads to England for the summer. She reconnects with Theo Wharton, a Brit with too much charm for his own good, and feels that familiar, but no longer forbidden, pull. The two explore London, the British countryside, and the possibility of happily ever after. This is a sweet story about making a fresh start and opening one's heart up to love again.

I enjoyed the couple in this story so much more than the first book (the hero in book one annoyed me a bit). I thought this was a very cute story, I’m really enjoying this little group of friends the author created. I recommend this series! 4 stars

This is the second book to a very cute series! The author did a good job of making me really feel the characters and their love story. They had great chemistry in a very fun storyline.

Charming! Sweet, sexy and full of sexual innuendo. This is filled with many angst filled moments as well as heat between Bonnie and Theo! These two were so attracted to each other, but had so much to deal with and work through to be able to fully commit to one another.

After meeting while Bonnie is engaged, their attraction only intensifies when that engagement is no more. But Theo is keeping secrets and obligations of his own. So when Bonnie finds herself in England for the summer she is still unsure of her future and is constantly trying to keep Theo at arms length as she deals with her broken heart. Will Theo’s obligations be the end of their budding romance? You will need to read to find out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene—and quickens Bonnie's heart. With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer—conveniently close to Theo—she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she's falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo's life makes Bonnie feel like she's wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?
This was a great story. This was the second book I’ve read by this author and it didn’t disappoint. I really liked both main characters as well as the plot. I look forward to the next book by this author. I recommend.

This author has a gift for storytelling and a mastery of words that will captivate even the most fickle romance reader. With down-to-earth, endearing characters whose personality jumps off the page and an engaging storyline perfectly balanced with humor, heat and heart, the reader is effortlessly inserted into the story. You’ll love every minute of Theo and Bonnie’s journey, fall in love with them from the start, and be cheering them through to the end. Don’t miss this sweet, steamy, humorous, heartfelt read!

This is Book 2 in Melonie's series. I unwittingly read this book first, so obviously it can be read as a standalone because I knew exactly what was going on. No confusion at all.

This was a charming and lovely romance story. The characters were engaging and entertaining, and the story was well-written. The heroine is an American and the hero is a Brit which made was a nice change of pace for me. I really enjoyed the book and plan on reading the first book in the series next.

As mentioned in a previous review...this series was very engaging, and loved the trend of the story lines. It’s was nice to be able to reconnect with “old” friends in the series

I really enjoyed this whole series by Melonie Johnson. I ended up talking about the third one quite a bit on Fated Mates, but this is also a charming story. A really good series and definitely worth your time!

I had high hopes for this whole series. Unfortunately, it just didn't come together well for me. I kept trying throughout all 3 books for some reason.

I wanted to like this so much. I just didn't. It was written poorly. It felt like I was reading a draft instead of a finished project. I did DNF.
