This is a fluffy cute story about Theo and Bonnie. Poor Bonnie thought she had it all til she caught her all in her bed with a blonde. So her life drastic changes in the blink of an eye. She excepts a teaching position in England and runs into Theo the gorgeous Brit best friend of her best friend Cassie, and sparks fly.

This is the 2nd book in the Sometimes Love series.
It can be read as a standalone but I think it would work better if you read this first.

I have not read the first but that did not hurt my enjoyment of this book. I am not really a fan of the Jane Austin theme, I did enjoy the interaction between Theo and Bonnie. The heavy-handed mother! Theo has hidden from Bonnie that he is a duke and needs to "marry well"

the story was fresh and well written, and I did enjoy it. A nice read!

This second entry in the Sometimes in Love series was just as good as the first! The timeline presses forward as we edge closer to Cassie and Logan's wedding, and Bonnie and her boyfriend have yet to set a date. It becomes apparent very quickly that no date has been set for good reason. Bonnie, like one of her unflappable literary heroines, dusts herself off and moves on with adventures of her across the pond. When she's right in Theo's backyard, will she be able to resist the man who is all charm and decorum?

Ms Johnson won me over with another title full of heart and vulnerability and friendship.

“Smitten By The Brit” is the second book in the “sometimes love” series. Overall, it is a cute, fun read with romance thrown in.
I found the book to be just ok, not a terrific read but not a horrible read.

Smitten by the Brit is the second in the Sometimes in Love series by Melonie Johnson. This time it follows Bonnie and Theo. Bonnie is engaged to a total d-bag, who I didn't like in the first novel and I especially didn't like him in this one. I knew exactly what he was up to, I was just waiting for Bonnie to figure it out!

Bonnie receives the opportunity of a lifetime to teach Shakespeare at Cambridge for a summer, all while Theo is trying to help out his family and clean up the mess his father left for them (and he has a duke title!) Once he learns that Bonnie is going to be teaching only an hour away from him? He jumps at just about every opportunity to see her. So, they start making plans to see each other every weekend and the sexual tension between them is so hot!

I really liked Getting Hot with the Scot, but Smitten by the Brit? By far the more superior of the two. I knew I liked idea of Bonnie and Theo together in the first novel, but Bonnie was so closed off to her feelings for Theo because of her fiance - she wouldn't except there was something better out there for her.

Theo is sweet, charming and has an accent. Mmm... I couldn't stand his mother ( I feel bad for saying it, but it's true), but his sister was hilarious! Tabitha didn't put up with her brothers crap and always called him on it. On top of that, she helped throw Cassie a hen do (British bachelorette party)!

Overall, if you liked the first novel in this series, you will definitely love this one or if you like sexual tension in novels, this is a good one to pick up. Reading the previous one is not required, only suggested. Very well written and an easy read. 4/5 stars

Even though I hadn't read the first book in the series, I was still able to fall in love with this book! I loved the sexual chemistry between Theo and Bonnie. It felt real. And there was a great arc to the story. Now I'm off to read more by Melonie Johnson! Will highly recommend it to library patrons that are looking for a saucy, funny romance novel!

I’ve never read this author, but the description looked interesting. The description was, but the book sadly wasn’t. It’s not that it was poorly written because it wasn’t. I just couldn’t connect with Bonnie or Theo, and parts of the book crossed me as juvenile.

for example, the alliteration of the girls’ names, Bonnie Blythe and Cassie Crow, and the fact that the author made specific mention of it, was just off...then there was the fact that the group of female friends is close to 30 but are practicing giving blowjobs with popsicles wrapped in fruit roll ups at their bridesmaid dress fitting. Um...no.

Bonnie made frequent references to Shakespeare and his works which, if you had no or little knowledge of, made them difficult to comprehend. I felt that they did not enhance the story but muddied it.

Theo was a non-royal duke who was supposed to live his life for the good of his family’s estate. The scenes between him and his family just didn’t come across like they should. His mother was on the cold side but was addressed by her children as “Mama” which doesn’t quite fit. It’s hard to put into words, but the interactions between Theo and his family weren’t realistic.

The interactions between Bonnie and Theo were not romantic, sensual, or believable either. They just seemed forced to me, and the ending came off as abrupt.

All in all, this book wasn’t awful, but it was not my “cup of tea,” which if you read this book, you’ll understand the intended pun.

WOOHOO Another hit by Melonie Johnson! I loved Theo and Bonnie’s story. This was kind of like a romantic movie. There always seemed to be something in their way. I love how Malonie weaeves a story. I love how romantic and chilvarous Theo was. He had to follow his heart or duty. Bonnie had to get past her “thoughts’” of how she her life was planned out and how it changed. You could feel the sparks between them from book one and it continued here. Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie and I love how they originally referred to him as Prince Eric. I loved Theo’s sister Tabitha. The “bachelorette” / hen party had a funny surprise. The ending was just so romantic and gave me the awww moment I love. Thank you Melonie for another great romance! It was hot, charming, romantic, funny...everything I love.

Love this series! Smitten by the Brit has the sweetest couple ever. You see such honesty between them, sometimes not at first, but honesty wins out. Lovable, intelligent, educator Bonnie met Theo on vacation in the previous book, Getting Hot With the Scot. (Both are truly a stand alone books, but I loved reading them in sequence). Bonnie is maid of honor and Theo is best man to Cassie and Logan from the first book. So, they are going to be thrown together for wedding festivities.

Bonnie is engaged to her childhood sweetheart and has remained faithful to that relationship, even when she kept ‘noticing’ Theo. Especially, after she saw him wrapped only in a towel after showering. No surprise, eventually the engagement explodes apart with Bonnie realizing it was for the best anyway.

Theo is ecstatic the engagement if called off. His time to step in. Things begin to happen relatively fast, yet, at the same time, not so fast. Hunky Theo proves to be a gentleman through and through in his care and concern for Bonnie. She has only ever been with her ex and not sure of some pretty basic steps to lovemaking. What are friends for? I am pretty sure I will never look at fruit roll ups the same, ever again.

Let’s not forget that Theo is a bona fide English duke. Non-royal, but that is neither here nor there – a duke is a duke. We are talking about England here, the land of prearranged marriages most of the time for money. No, Theo is not promised in marriage, but his mother is working hard to fix that and bring funds into the family coffers. She, apparently, married a duke who did not know how to manage the estate after a line of bad ducal managers. Mom wants Theo to fix all of that by marrying an heiress. She even has one picked out.

So, what happens to Bonnie and her newfound love for Theo? What about Theo’s love for Bonnie? He only stayed away because she was engaged. Now all bets are off. Smitten is even better than Hot was. I can only believe that more great stories are coming with the rest of the girls from the original vacationing group!

Another whirl through the British countryside as another couple takes plays hit and miss with relationships. Will an American have any chance of winning the heart of a member of royalty when his family is depending on him procuring a wealthy bride. We see how the backgrounds and cultural differences play a large part in this story. One believes in love while the other was raised to ignore it.

Escapist romance travels from Chicago to Scotland in this enjoyable book. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC. Bonnie finds out that life does not always go as planned when she discovers her long time boyfriend cheating on her just when she thought they were finally planning their wedding. Luckily she realizes that the idea of her plan was more of a loss than the actual boyfriend. While this book was kind of predictable and more sexually graphic than I would like I really did enjoy the characters and the writing was very fast paced. sometimes a happily ever after is just what is nedded.

I really really loved this book. The story was great and the journey the two main characters went on was a wonderful one. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author.

I have been rooting for Bonnie and Theo ever since I read Getting Hot with the Scot and I thoroughly enjoyed their story.
It is an easy read and I enjoyed the slow build of their relationship. Theo’s understanding of her needs had me falling in love with him, he is a friend, a shoulder to cry on and a hot partner. I found it to be an entertaining and at times hilarious read.
I have enjoyed both the books in the series and look forward to reading more.

I was so happy to be given the opportunity to read the advance copy of Smitten by the Brit. I had just finished Hot for the Scot which I thoroughly enjoyed. In my review of that book I said that it was perfect as the first book in a series. Little did I know that book two would arrive so quickly. A trip of a lifetime for five friends ends up being a life-changing event for two of the friends. In this book Bonnie discovers that her long-time boyfriend/fiancée has been cheating on her. After breaking off her engagement, Bonnie reconnects with Theo, the attractive man she met in London. Bonnie and Theo both come to realize what is truly important in life. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to preview this book. I really enjoyed it.

Great characters! The writing style held my attention and the drama that unfolded was witty and romantic.

So far I’m finding this series of books very enjoyable light reads. I may have liked the first book better than this one just for the fun story. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

I enjoyed Cassie and Logan’s story. Bonnie and Theo’s story was even better. So much of the story takes place in England - a place that is on my wish list to see.

So glad that Theo got over his mindset of duty to family to enjoy the happiness he found with Bonnie.

The story, characters, the chemistry between them felt like weak tea. I had expectations to be smitten with the characters but something was amiss.

Bonnie can’t help thinking fondly of her vacation in England. Of course, since her best friend is marrying a man from Scotland & Bonnie is the maid of honor, she can’t help it. She’s also slightly bitter. She’s been with her boyfriend forever & this was supposed to be HER year to be planning a wedding! Then her world fell apart. What’s she going to do now? After catching her boyfriend cheating, she decided to teach in England for the summer.

Theo was captivated by Bonnie when he met her the previous year but all she did was talk about her boyfriend. Theo knew his future was supposed to lead to a marriage of convenience to ensure his family’s estate but he’s really attracted to Bonnie. After she broke up with her boyfriend, he was torn. He can’t lead her on but he can’t stay away either. What’s he going to do?

Heartache, turmoil, attraction & duty - the fight between them comes through the pages clearly. It easily resembles the English stories Bonnie adores but put to modern times. The characters are intense & multifaceted. The attraction between Bonnie & Theo jumps off the page. You can sense Theo being torn between his attraction to Bonnie & his duty to his family & the workers he employs. The descriptions of the countryside they are touring draws pictures in your mind as you read. All in all, this was a comfortable romance to read.
