Oh my goodness, I LOVED this story! Even though it is the second book of a series you don't have to have read the first one to thoroughly enjoy this story. So cute and lovely but steamy too. Great story.

For those who have read Getting Hot with the Scot, you were highly anticipating Bonnie and Theo's story, and I've gotta tell you, Smitten with the Brit was definitely worth the wait! I absolutely love the way this author writes, very well written, page after page! There's a mixture of humor, romance, hot steamy love scenes, a great mixture of London history, love the relationship between Bonnie and her besties, and some good old fashioned family drama with this very unlikely couple. Great addition to the series, very much looking forward to the next installment, have already preordered it!!!

Great characters! Very romantic and sweet HEA. This whole series is worth the read. Strong characters, sexy hero, and great stories of friendship mixed in. Highly recommend! I received an arc for my fair and honest review!

I really liked the first book in this series, Getting Hot with the Scot, and I was really excited to read Bonnie and Theo's story because their chemistry was cute-dorable in the first book. Unfortunately this book just didn't do it for me for some reason.

I thought I'd for sure connect with Bonnie, being something of an Austen-weirdo myself (though not so much with the Shakespeare). And I really liked Theo in the first book. I still liked them just fine, they were just kind of... boring. Maybe it's the way I don't really get British humor; it tends to just fall kind of flat for me. Reading this book felt like watching a British comedy with my friend who loves them - she'll sit there laughing her butt off, while I just watch a little bemused and bewildered wondering how I'm missing the way it's funny. AGAIN, this book is in no way BAD - I liked it just fine, it just didn't resonate for me and I ended up putting it down several times over the two weeks it took me to read it and read about 10 other books in between starting and finishing this one.

This is the second book in the Sometimes in Love series. I suppose it could be read as a stand alone if you're quite determined, but as Bonnie and Theo meet and establish some cute moments in book 1 (Getting Hot with the Scot), I highly recommend reading it first.

I have to admit I was shamelessly lusting after Theo before this book even started. I have zero regrets. I knew in Getting Hot with the Scot that I needed some Theo action too! (I'm a greedy book whore. Don't even get me started on guys with accents. Swoon!) I mean come on! The dude quotes Shakespeare and Austen. He loves Month Python and is British (accent!!!!!).

So yeah, I was ready for Theo before this book started. I knew there would be struggles. I knew Bonnie had a "man" and thanks to the blurb I knew he was a bigger ass than previously suspected.

So I knew in my heart that it wouldn't be a hardship if I started out Smitten and as I smile like a loon I know it won't be hard for you either! These two are adorable together. Lizzy and Darcy would be proud!

4 Stars!
Bonnie Blythe is a beautiful, Irish 29 yr. old woman living in Chicago who is a bit naive and innocent. She's an English professor who is a lover of all things Shakespeare. She believes in fairy tales and since becoming engaged to her boyfriend feels she's found her happily ever after. Her life is perfect, just like in one of her novels, until all of a sudden it isn't. As her engagement ends her life is going up in flames.

Just when her life is feeling like a storm she's drowning in, two good things come her way. Her dream summer job in England, and a gorgeous Brit who looked like a cartoon prince come to life. He embodied every Austen hero she'd ever crushed on, and when he flashed those dimples she was a goner. He was already tall, dark, and handsome, and then when he spoke, that British accent finished her off.

Now that Bonnie will be across the pond for the summer and closer to the man she can't quit fantasizing about, she thinks a friends with benefits fling might be exactly what she needs. Theo Wharton was charming, and she felt an irresistible pull any time he was near. There had been something between them since the day they met. She'd tried her best to ignore her feelings, but she'd never felt this way or wanted anyone so bad. She was in completely new and unfamiliar territory. While she was obsessing over Theo she soon realizes she might be falling hard for the delicious Brit!

Smitten by the Brit by Melonie Johnson is book two in the Sometimes in Love series. It's a friends to lovers romance full of humor and quirky, lovable characters. I really enjoyed it, and look forward to the next book in the series!

After reading a lot of hype Getting Hot with the Scot, the first in the series, I was excited to read Bonnie and Theo’s story. Unfortunately, while they are both very interesting characters, I didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between them. Bonnie seemed both sweet and sassy, but ultimately a bit, shall we say, sheltered, for a woman who’s had a longtime boyfriend/fiancée. Theo is a very proper British man in some ways, but very playful in others. They have quite a bit in common, but I felt like it was a friendship more than a romance.
I liked the premise, the secondary characters were fun, but overall, it wasn’t a memorable read for me.

Absolutely fabulous! A terrific follow up to the first story, Getting Hot with the Scot, about Cassie and Logan. You don’t have to read that one to enjoy this story but it's too good to miss out on. While the girlfriends where vacationing in the British Isles the Shakespeare-loving Bonnie met the man of her dreams, the extremely handsome extremely British Theo, Logan's bestie. But alas Bonnie is engaged to her childhood boyfriend and ignores the spark that Theo ignites. Months later several things happen, some good and one very sad, and Bonnie finds herself back in England and once again drawn to Theo but without a fiancé. What transpires is a sweet and sexy romance between the swoon-worthy Theo and the lovely Bonnie. As their romance progresses Theo's secret is revealed and throws Bonnie for a loop. Can she overcome her misgivings and take a chance on her dream man? She'd better! This is another wonderfully written, swoony romance with loads of emotion and few laughs. The characters are terrific with a group of girlfriends that are all uniquely individual, men that are so hot and perfect, and fantastic secondary characters. I can't wait for the next story. Thanks Natalie and NetGalley!

This book was so cute. It’s about Bonny and Theo, and their best friends are getting marriage.
I loved the chemestry between Bonny and Theo, but also the frindships in this book was so good.
My one complanit about this book, is that sometimes Bonny felt a little young and immature and very very inexperienced.
I would recommed this book for people who love a good contemporary romance, with a sexy british duke.

Over all im giving this book a 4,25 out of 5 stars.

This book was a lot cuter than I thought it would be. We see plenty of Cassie and Jaime from the first book, but this book is truly about Theo and Bonnie.

They take the long way around to get to the romance but when they do, it is explosive. I have to admit that Theo's mom is a bit of work and I'm sad that Bonnie didn't confront her in front of everyone.

True love prevails, but the devil is in the details.

This is the second book in the series – and I would recommend that you read book one first as it sets the scene for this lovely romance. We also get to catch up with the duo from that story, which was fun too.

Bonnie behaved herself impeccably whilst in London, even though her attraction to Logan's friend, Theo, was pretty overwhelming. But her fiancé, Gabe, was back home, and having known him since she was six, she had no intention of derailing her plans. Now life is back to normal in Chicago, and she is looking forward to Gabe finishing his PhD and them finally getting married. Seeing Theo again at an event with Logan and Cassie reminds her that she should be at home with Gabe. Sadly, this early evening results in her discovering that Gabe is not the man she believed. Feeling that she has lost all that she had held dear, she escapes to a hotel.

Cue Theo, a man who is hiding his true identity and who knows that he has to marry wisely to keep the family seat, staying in the very same hotel as Bonnie, and seeing her revives all those feelings again. And so starts a rebound affair, with no intention of permanence – or at least that is what they both tell themselves. Obviously, we know that the challenges thrown in front of them will somehow be cast aside, although the solution comes from a very unexpected quarter.

Great addition to the series, and I am already waiting for the next installment!

Another great book in this series. This time it's Bonnie's turn to find the love of her life. She has to drop the dead weight first before that can happen. It takes a long time for Theo to finally follow his heart but in the end he gets there. This is a fun book to follow to people who are perfect for each other find out for themselves that is true. I can't wait to read the next book.

Smitten by the Brit is the second book in the Sometimes in Love Series and it follows the story of Theo and Bonnie. I have to admit that I was pretty taken with Bonnie and Theo in those first few chapters. The way they interacted and the fun banter combined with the embarrassed inner thoughts made this a really fun read.

Of course Bonnie was on the rebound the next time she and Theo come into contact and being unencumbered makes it harder than ever to ignore the chemistry between them and let me tell you, it was sizzling off the e-pages! The problem, because of course there's a problem is that Theo has a secret and Bonnie has newly developed trust issues.

Melo meet Drama. But in a good way.

Smitten by the Brit is fun and engaging and my favorite read in the series so far.

I thought that this was an incredibly wonderful, charm filled romance. I loved Bonnie and Theo. Bonnie was smart, sassy and quirky. Theo was all kinds of sexy cloaked in propriety. He was so charismatic, sweet and chivalrous but he also had a hidden naughty side. Together, these two, in my opinion were simply perfection. An extremely enjoyable read with lots of heart, heart and humor.

After meeting Bonnie and Theo in Getting Hot with the Scot, the first book in Melonie Johnson's Sometimes in Love series, I was anticipating another great read from Johnson in Smitten by the Brit. Bonnie and Theo are definitely attracted to each other, but Bonnie is loyal to her fiance, Gabe. When Bonnie finds out that Gabe has been far from loyal to her, she is set adrift. Theo respected Bonnie's loyalty to her fiance, but all bets are off when he finds out the engagement is over.

Theo is a Duke whose mother is pushing him to marry money as their family estate is on shaky ground. While he wants to do right by his family, he also wants to find happiness and welcomes the opportunity to spend time with Bonnie. When Bonnie is offered a chance to spend the summer in England teaching Shakespeare seminar at Cambridge, she is not averse to experiencing a hot friends-with-benefits fling with Theo.

I appreciated that it does take time for Bonnie and Theo to get together. As loyal as she had been to Gabe, it wouldn't have been true to Bonnie's personality to have her jump into a relationship with Theo. She needed closure before she could commit to a new relationship. Their acquaintanceship is allowed to develop into a true friendship and eventually a relationship as Theo allows Bonnie to set the pace. Theo was truly a gentleman with Bonnie but, still waters run deep, and she finds out all about Theo's wild side!

I really enjoyed this installment and can't wait for book three!!

Going in for this one to see if it is still there the good romance which it sure was. This is like the slow brewing love that builds and has us slowly pulled to the edge with anticipation for what the outcome could be. Bonnie and Theo take our emotions hostage a time or two. This also has a bit of snob foolery threaded in here. I think I liked this one a bit better too seeing I am partial to because it seems to be a bit better in style now that it has gotten going.

Theo and Bonnie have been tip-toeing around each other since they first met. Now that Bonnie is single, the fun can begin. It was interesting to see these two navigate around each other. They did seem to have good chemistry so it was only a matter of time before things got really interesting. I liked how Theo treated Bonnie and the time they spent together was great. I liked the family and friend aspects in the story. Bonnie’s four friends are like family and Theo’s sister Tabitha was a great addition. It was also nice to get a glimpse of Logan and Cassie (Theo and Bonnie being their best friends of course). Just like its predecessor this was a cute read.

Seemed to drag!

This novel wasn’t a great read for me. In fact, I felt it dragged on without progress a few times. It was a very predictable plot and I was hoping for a twist, but unfortunately, none came to be. It wasn’t a horrible read, but I didn’t feel I was pulled into the story or invested in the characters.

I loved this amazing read with captivating characters you feel like you know and an engaging story that kept me entertained and intrigued from beginning to end. As soon as I started reading I knew I wouldn't be able to put the book and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved the undeniable chemistry and sweet romance between English professor Bonnie Blythe and Theo Wharton, a British hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. If you enjoy fresh, well-crafted humorous contemporary romance, don't miss Smitten by the Brit, the second book in the Sometimes in Love series by gifted author Melonie Johnson. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy to read again later.

I had such a good time with SMITTEN BY THE BRIT. Of course, we knew that Theo and Bonnie were tossing off sparks during GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT but they went nowhere because Bonnie was engaged. Now life has taken a turn, and Bonnie finds herself free to make her own choices for her future – one that just might include a fling with a sexy Brit.

I want to call Bonnie and Theo’s romance a slow burn, and in many ways, it is in spite of those sparks flying. Theo is such a gentleman, almost from another time period. He’s holding on to secrets that Bonnie has no clue about. Which will win in the end love or duty?

Yes, I’m being a bit vague on details because you should experience this romance for yourself. I adored this couple, they have such a bantering, loving relationship even before that “love” word entered. If you love a romance with a bit of angst, a secret that changes everything, lively characters and a definite slow burn sizzle then you’ll want to pick up SMITTEN BY THE BRIT. I don’t believe you’ll be one tiny bit disappointed.

First time reading this author.
Fun and flirty. Light-hearted. romance.. Entertaining.
Bonnie accepts a job abroad and meets up with Theo. Apparently they’ve met before. Though this is a standalone, I will need to go back to the first book to read their first encounter.
