I totally love this series and both of these authors! I was a little hesitant in reading this book because I'm not into science fiction, but "space" interests me, so I gave it a chance.

Nicholas Drummond is becoming a favorite character, after Savage & Sherlock. In this installment, he has to save the world from an Astronaut (Dr. Nevaeh Patel) that believes Aliens saved her during a space walk gone wrong. She believes she can be reunited with the aliens and become immortal. Drummond and Caine must stop her from using the rocket to create an EMP that can destroy the world.

As expected, this book was fast paced, twisting plots and a great thriller. Can't wait for the next!

Behind the world stage, superpowers are waging a communications war in space. A satellite war that may go nuclear. And one country has the power to bring humanity back to the stone age with a click of the button. Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine are thrown into the pending disaster and race against the clock to stop the EMP that would wreak havoc on communication and electronic systems on Earth, resulting in chaos and anarchy.

I haven't read any other books in the A Brit in the FBI series, but the book description got me. Space, Holy Grail, mystery this book has exactly what you're looking for if you want a thriller that is easy to jump into. I love a fast-paced thriller when I'm in a reading slump and have added some of the previous books in the series to TBR list.

I'm usually gung-ho for anything Sci-Fi. A thriller in space? YES, please. That's the premise of this story. Neveah is a NASA astronaut, who's stuck on the ground. She almost died from an issue that happened on the International Space Station. With her tether, well, untethered, she should have be a lost cause. However, she was saved by something. Convinced she has met an alien species, NASA thinks she she has lost it. There's zero proof. The footage doesn't show any aliens, and so now what is she to do? She has plans, scary plans. Are they for good, or evil? Is this all in her head? Is she actually working to protect Earth? Then there is our male lead, and his quest for a Holy Grail, a rock that heals. Buckle up, because the action is intense, the characters vivid, and the issues, well, you have to read this.

Thanks to Net Galley for my copy of this book. This review is my own and contains my thoughts about this book. A positive review is not required.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

I got a copy of this book from NetGalley, because I have always enjoyed Catherine Coulter books. I did enjoy the book, but I was left with something was missing feeling. I did like reading with continuous characters so that was nice.

I love Catherine coulter books and this one is so good! It is full of action, suspense, and mystery. A little bit of something for everyone..The Brit in the FBI series is one of my favorites. I can picture Nicholas Drummond as he goes out to save the works! It is not my favorite of this series but it kept me reading for thank you.

I received this as an arc from Net Galley.

This spin-off series has been really fun. I haven't done a deep dive into the FBI Thrillers by Coulter, but Iv'e really enjoyed these, especially with that little bit of supernatural hint that may or may not be there. Very James Bond in some ways, but not too heavy handed. A very fun read.

Imagine having the power in your hands to wipe the world clean. Terrifying, isn't it? A former astronaut has taken a turn for the worse, in that she has the power to control a satellite. Doesn't sound too bad, but this satellite has very menacing powers to it. Special Agent Nicholas Drummond is drawn back into another nail-biting mystery, with a very fatal countdown.

The Last Second was the first book i have read in this series. I really enjoyed the husband and wife FBI characters. This book was interesting but I was not really expecting the sci-fi element. But definitely worth a read.

In the sixth installment of Coulter's A Brit in the FBI series, Michaela Caine and Nicholas Drummond have landed themselves right in the middle of a world-ending crisis. Nevaeh Patel, a former astronaut, believes she was rescued by aliens called Numen during a spacewalk gone wrong. As crazy as she might be, she is also brilliant. She has managed to sneak a nuclear EMP onto a satellite that was launched by Galactus. She is second in command only to Jean-Pierre Broussard. He has made it his mission to find the Holy Grail and believes he has it. Nevaeh knows that with the Holy Grail in her possession and a nuclear EMP to clear the atmosphere of all the extra "noise" she can be reunited with the Numen. Can Caine and Drummond figure out how to stop her before the world as we know it is destroyed?

If you have read and enjoyed any of the previous books in this series, this is a no-brainer. Sure, it's an over the top scenario full of highly improbably occurrences. However, it is a load of fun and the story keeps you flipping the pages. You have a good idea of how it will end, but the twists and turns you get as you make it to the end are superb. This is a book version of a well done action and adventure movie. I love Catherine Coulter as an author and she did not disappoint with this book. Four out of five stars for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge Catherine Coulter fan. However, this particular book is too heavy on the espionage theme for me. I didn’t finish but agree that it may be a wonderful book for others.

The Last Second, by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison, is the sixth book in the A Brit in the FBI series. Each one seems to be more action-packed than the last. This one involves an astronaut, Dr. Nevaeh Patel, whose tether breaks loose during a spacewalk. Afterwards, she is diagnosed with PTSD, and her sanity is questioned. When NASA’s psychiatrist grounds her, she is determined not only to return to space, but also to get revenge.

FBI special agents and members of the bureau’s Covert Eyes Team, Michaela (Mike) Caine and Nicholas Drummond are still in England, with plans to go to Rome. Mike is recovering from a hairline fracture of her ankle when they find themselves drawn into near disaster.

There is a search for the Heaven Stone, also known as the Holy Grail which Nevaeh believes will make her immortal. She will stop at nothing to get her hands on that stone. Mike and Nicholas are called upon to rescue the crew of a yacht that has been attacked, and immediately become involved in literally saving the world from Nevaeh’s insane evil plans.

The Last Second is a fast-paced thriller with a little comedy and just a hint of romance thrown in. I couldn’t put it down.

What Makes This Reviewer Grumpy?

• Using “loaning” in place of “lending”;
• Using “further” in place of “farther” – they are not interchangeable;
• A lot of split infinitives;
• Using “bring” in place of “take”;
• Misplacement of the word “only” within sentences;
• Consistently beginning sentences with the conjunctions “and” and “but”.

This is another great book in the Brit in the FBI series. In this one, there is the threat of a nuclear bomb, a hurricane, a search for the Holy Grail, and a lost satellite! Get ready for a race for their lives, as Agents Mike and Nicholas once again have to save the world from a plot to end it! This is a good one and one not to be missed!

It was a kind of strange entry in the Brit in the FBI series. Little too much space and sci fi for the genre I was expecting.

Another nail biter by Catherine Coulter and JT Ellison. Aliens, EMP's, the Holy Grail and evil geniuses. What more could you ask for out of a book? FBI agents Nick and Mike are ready to save the day again. The action is non-stop and will keep you on the edge of your seat till the final page.

Now that was a solid high-tech thriller/science fiction novel that kept me glued to my seat! This book is full of action, suspense, mystery, thrills, and even some laughter. I feel like I need a vacation after reading this one. THE LAST SECOND by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison is the 6th book in the "A Brit in the FBI Thriller" series, but you can definitely read this as a stand-alone.

Do you believe in Aliens? Well, Dr. Nevaeh Patel does, and she is convinced that the aliens saved her life after a spacewalk outside the International Space Station almost turned deadly. Now she believes that once she is reunited with the aliens again she will be able to change the world's destiny and become immortal. Special Agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela (Mike) Caine have to stop Dr. Patel from wreaking havoc on Earth. But will they make it in time to stop her and save Earth?

Coulter and Ellison have created a non-stop action thriller that will keep you in suspense until the very end. I will definitely be reading more from these two authors very soon! Highly Recommend

"The Last Second" eBook was published in 2019 and was written by Catherine Coulter (https://www.catherinecoulter.com/) & J. T. Ellison (https://www.jtellison.com). Ms. Coulter has published more than 90 novels, while Ms. Ellison has published more than 30. This is the sixth book in their "A Brit in the FBI" series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set in the contemporary US, France, and Asia. The primary characters are FBI agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Cain.

A close friend is hired as a bodyguard to Jean-Pierre Broussard, owner of the very successful French aerospace company, Galactus. Broussard is in Asian waters on his megayacht, The Griffon, searching for the Holy Grail. Shortly after finding what they believe is the Grail, the yacht comes under attack.

Broussard's head scientist at Galactus is the former US Astronaut Dr. Nevaeh Patel. Patel is trying to make contact with aliens, the Numen, she swears she met while serving aboard the International Space Station. After Patel was quietly forced to leave NASA due to her claimed 'first contact', she took up the helm of Galactus. She helped make the company a success but now she is using Galactus launch capabilities for her own plans. She has put a nuclear weapon in orbit that will generate an EMP. Patel wants to use the EMP to clear the heavens of all satellites and the ISS. This will allow the Numen to come down to Earth.

Drummond and Cain travel to Asia to look for their missing friend and Broussard. Then they become involved in the search for the nuclear weapon. Along the way, they encounter armed terrorists and Patel's security. Drummond and Cain are in a race to disable the nuclear weapon before the EMP can devastate most of the Earth.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 8.5 hours I spent reading this 464-page thriller. I liked the overall plot, but I was not impressed with the characters. In my opinion, too, there were a few holes in the plot details. While the cover art chosen is OK, I think something tied to the plow would have been better, I give this novel a 3 out of 5.
