Very informative. I have yet to put this into practice, but this book is a great help and when I take the plunge it will be my bible.
With audiobooks on the rise this was a very helpful and informative book. One I'd recommend to others wanting to venture into audiobooks.
My first thought on seeing this book's title and subtitle was that it was going to be about helping authors create an audiobook for their novel or nonfiction book. This book isn't about this at all. It is essentially about how to set up your own audiobook-making company. There is one chapter at the end, Nuts and Bolts, that talks about how an audiobook actually gets made which could help an author understand the creation of an audiobook. Other than that, this book is meant to give the budding audiobook entrepreneur a thorough grounding in all the aspects of what it takes to run that kind of business.
The author is both an audiobook director and producer as well as a lawyer, so you won't be surprised to find that a lot of the book deals with the legal aspects of running an audiobook business. She addresses getting the rights to books, contracts, and business formats, as well as other legal issues. She also discusses how to publish, choose narrators, and market the end result.
If you're an author who is just looking for information about the making an audiobook for your own book, this book isn't for you. But if you have an interest in creating an audiobook business, this book will give you a lot of information that will help you on your way.
Very informative and useful book.
This guide will teach exactly what the name suggests: How to publish audiobooks.
Some of the things that you will learn in this topic are how to choose a narrator, how to manage and distribute your digital audiobook, examples of commonly used contracts in the industry and other information more on the business side of publishing.
I a wonderful resource for authors looking for more information about turning their books into audiobooks. But more than that I think the person that will benefit the most with this book is someone that is looking into becoming an audiobook publisher and would like to acquire rights to publish audiobooks from regular written books.
Either way, if you're an indie author, or an indie publisher looking to expand your reach thru audiobooks, this book is a great start.
A great, straight forward guide for those wanting to create an audio book. A worthwhile, accessible reference for all indie writers.
This book was excellent for those that are interested in publishing audiobooks. The language was easily accessible and straight forward. It broke down the process easily and I felt confident that I would be able to create my own audiobook. Great instruction and reference book!
