This book is perfect for those readers who can't get enough of unicorns. I purchased this book from my library and it is one that is constantly circulating. A perfect one for young readers.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a whimsical book that fans of unicorn will like. Lots of bright colors and pictures. The text is fun and rhyming. It flows well. It's an overall fun read.
Finn says:
Do you like this book?
Yeah because I love unicorns! And you love unicorns!
What's your favorite part of the book?
When there's a horse and he's not a unicorn but the unicorns love him anyway!
What do you think of the cover?
I like the unicorn horn! The rainbow one is my favorite.
Let me start by saying we got this as an E-ARC from Netgalley. And it was awful on the kindle. It was sideways and all kinds of out of order. With that being said...
This was a super bright and cute book about a unicorn day. They find out that there's an impostor among them! It's a horse! But they find out they don't care if it's a only a horse. They want to be friends and love him too.
The artwork is adorable and the colors are stunning. I just wish I could actually read this in order.
Unicorns are still enjoying the limelight (even though narwhals are trying hard to steal their thunder) so this book is a bright, colorful edition to any children's library.
This is a fun, colourful illustrated book about Unicorn Day; which is essentially a silly fun play day that the Unicorns made-up. Not really suitable for bedtime as there are many moments where your toddler is likely to want to yell (like "glitter fight") and what not. But certainly a great afternoon read. The very busy pages ensure that your child will always have something new to look at; and it has a cute little morale about being inclusive to everyone; not just unicorns, to participate in Unicorn Day!
Such a cute little picture book for the young ones. I love all the illustrations and it has a very good message about being friends with those that are not in your little group. A message about acceptance and having fun.
Many thanks to net galley and the publisher of this precious little book for giving me a copy to read and review. I highly recommend it!
I will definitely be ordering a few copies of this for my library. The art is colorful and bold, although viewing it online I didn't get a great sense of the flow. Still, unicorn books are very popular in my library so I am pleased with the title
There's just something infinitely appealing about unicorns. Cute or fierce, playful or serious, we can't get enough of them. That element alone means this book will have this book rating pretty highly with pre-readers and readers alike. The story is told in a natural, sing-song style rhyme reminiscent of Dr Seuss that makes it very readable. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and dynamic with a consistent sense of motion. The plot is very simple and easily understood by the preschool set and can be expanded into a larger discussion of acceptance and exclusion for older kids.
Love the bright colors and simple pictures. The story was simple but engaging. It was a perfect read for my 5 year old.
This is a little too cute for words, or even for pictures. If your kids love unicorns then, this is the perfect book for them. It is full with fun happy unicorns, and one horse who wants to be a unicorn as well.
So, really, despite all the glitter, and bright colors, this is really a book about friendship, and how anyone can be a unicorn and be accepted.
So, super sweet, but sometimes having a slice of bright confetti colored cake is ok.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
This book is so much fun! I love the bright colors. I loved the message as well. I will post an in depth review on the published day on my blog. Link goes live. June 3.
This is such a cute book! I read it and then let my kindergartener read it and we both enjoyed it. This is a super colorful story with such a great message.
Unicorn Day by Diana Murray is a delight to read aloud. This rhyming tale of celebration of being proud to be yourself and making new friends is something all kids will enjoy. The book encourages kids to sing, dance, and have fun. The illustations are detailed and colorful. This has made my list of storytime books.
Unicorn Day is a picturebook written by Diana Murray and illustrated by Luke Flowers. The book tells the story of what happens to an impostor horse who tries to crash the most glittery day of the year, Unicorn Day. It is currently scheduled for release on June 4 2019.
Unicorn Day is a cute and fun picturebook. It is colorful with bold illustrations that are just as sweet and cute as the story. I liked the story, a horse joining in the unicorn festivities, and how fun and friendship were much more important to the characters than the fake horn the horse was wearing. I enjoyed the read and art, but I have to saw that I was not really wowed by it. It was a good, but not amazing read for me.
I loved the bright, colourful, and FUN illustrations in Unicorn Day! So many things to see on every page; I know this is the type of book my daughter would love looking at. The story reminded me a bit of "Happy Pig Day" by Mo Willems, with a similar message of acceptance and love for everyone even if they are different then you.
In all honesty, the digital arc I received had the pages all out of order which made it kind of difficult to follow the story. But thanks to the rhyming I was able to piece most of it together. This book would definitely appeal to children who love unicorns. Such a great lesson is taught with rhyming lines and fantastically bright and cheery illustrations. I definitely want to get my hands on a hard copy of this book.
Every unicorn lovers dream come true in Unicorn Day by Diana Murray and Luke Flowers. Full of rainbow, glitter and especially unicorns, readers will be wowed by the incredibly animated illustrations and lovely rhyming story about the day unicorns come out to play.
Diana Murray has created a lovely story that flows effortlessly off your tongue. You know those stories, where the author has wanted to created a rhyming tale but forces the rhymes all the way through. Not in Unicorn Day, the rhymes are clear and not at all forced. It’s a story you could use as a choral reading if sharing it with a large group of readers. It’s also a book bound to be stuck in your head for all eternity if you have a reader who is particularly enthralled.
Luke Flowers has created illustrations that leap off the page. With a cartoon feel, the unicorns are so expressive and funny. He has captured all of the magic of a day filled with unicorns perfectly.
The story, while fun and maybe a tad frivolous, also has a lovely message of inclusion. When the unicorns realize one among them is not a unicorn but a horse, they embrace their new friend with gusto and encourage the horse and all other creatures to join in the fun of unicorn day. Picture books hold so much magic in their pages and Unicorn Day send the magic out into the world with a glitter bomb
Unicorn lovers rejoice! A lovely rhyming ode to your favorite animal is here. Unicorn Day celebrates unicorns with cupcakes, song, rainbows, and a glitter fight of course. But one of the unicorns is an imposter. Rather than throw him out, he is welcomed, and so all unicorn lovers are welcomed as well. The illustrations are vivid and kid friendly with plenty of visual humor. This lesson in friendship and acceptance will be much appreciated during a unicorn story time.
I adore this book and immediately passed the info along to our acquisitions group. There are tons of unicorn books out there, but I love how fun this is... and how socially conscious. The unicorns welcome a horn-wearing horse into their group and together. they march in pride of their unicorn nature... along with having Fun, Fun, Fun (which is most important, of course!).
This is such a fun story filled with glitter, cupcakes, rainbows and friendship. You don't have to be a unicorn to celebrate Unicorn Day!
