Great art! Great fun! Great message! I'm sure this one will be exceedingly popular. I nominated it for Loan Stars Jr.
Cute book - a bit too seweet but nevertheless worth the reading to your child. It's about having fun, taking care of yourself and being part of a group. I don't exactly agree on the fitting to the group - I think peoplebe accepted for what they are and not having to try to fit, but it's a good step to talk about that.
Super cute, simple book about Unicorns and Friendship, and Acceptance! I will be using this in my story time for sure.
Unicorn Day is a fun and colorful story about, you guessed it, unicorns! You can’t go wrong with bright colors, fun drawings, unicorns, glitter and a great message. My unicorn obsessed kids enjoyed it very much!
Thank you NetGalley for this eARC.
Bright and colorful illustrations with rhyming prose and enough unicorns and sprinkles to make anyone giddy!
This is sweet story full of cheery illustrations in bold, bright colors. Fans of unicorn tales will likely enjoy this fun book!
With vibrant illustrations, Unicorn Day shines with all the happiness of sunshine, sweets, and of course, unicorns! Kids will enjoy the rhymes and rules of this book, which is a perfect read-aloud, while also delivering the message of including others instead of excluding them.

How could one not absolutely love a book about unicorns?!?!?! I sure can't! This book was adorable, sweet, and soooo much fun! I love the ease at which it not only presents a fun story, but also the important themes of friendship and acceptance. The pictures are bright, colorful, and engaging. This is one that I will definitely be incorporating into my storytime rotation.
Such an adorable book! Unicorns celebrating Unicorn Day with a big party! Love it. My daughter is a compete unicorn junkie and she enjoyed this book immensely, especially the drawings. My son, 7 years old, got right into the story, as well. Winner!
I loved this book, how could I not? It's chock-full of unicorns! The unicorns are celebrating Unicorn Day, having fun, braiding each other's hair, eating cupcakes, and having a glitter fight- but there's an imposter in their midst! A horse, wearing a unicorn horn tied onto his head, has snuck in. What will the unicorns do now? Invite the horse to stay, of course, because they don't want to exclude their new friend. Soon other creatures are joining in, and a good time is had by all. What could have been just a cute story becomes a lovely message of inclusion and friendship. The illustration are really bright and colorful, and there's a lot of fun detail going on, lots of things for little ones (and their big ones!) to look at. I look forward to getting a copy of this for my nephews, I imagine we'll have lots of fun reading it together!
"Have you hugged a unicorn today?"
I mean, who doesn't love UNICORNS and glitter fights?!?!? First, the cover is everything! The illustrations on the front cover and throughout each spread is superb and adds to the theme of having fun, fun, fun. This book would be great for preschoolers and early primary students with the song and rhymes in the story. The song is a phenomenal way to include the readers in a sing-along or read-aloud. Most importantly, the theme of inclusion, acceptance, and friendship was well embedded.
I'm off to hug a unicorn.
The Story:
The unicorns are going all out to celebrate unicorn day in style. There are just three rules: Show off your horn (be proud to be a unicorn); fluff up your hair; and have fun (that’s the most important one)! But the celebrations come to a sudden halt when an imposter is found. What will the unicorns do about horse and his pretend horn?
Favourite Spread:
Every spread in this book is jam-packed with colour and fun, fun, fun. The glitter fight was brilliant. I also loved when the unicorns slid down the rainbow slide. My favourite spread (**spoiler alert**) was when the unicorns accept Horse and as the celebrations continue, they hold up a sign saying: “PROUD to be a unique-orn!” What a fabulous message to give children within such a fun picture book.
The Verdict:
I could tell from the title page (which features a unicorn pushing a trolley of items including Unique Horn Shine and a sparkle barrel) that I was going to enjoy this book. About two thirds of the way through I thought it was going to be a fun story but that was it, fun. Then a spread transformed the book into a story about inclusion and acceptance which completely elevated the story for me. This is a book that will get you all in the party mood!
I am very grateful to the publisher for providing me with an advanced digital copy via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I love, love, love this book! It made me smile from start to finish! The illustrations are beautiful and happy. The message is clear. I really adored reading this book and I know some readers who would love it!
"Horray! Hooray!
It's Unicorn Day!
When unicorns
Come out to play.
The most important rule of Unicorn Day is to have fun, fun, fun!"
And do Unicorns know how to throw a celebration! WOW!
In the woods where tall trees sway you are invited to sing the song of Unicorn Day, kick up your hooves and jump and cheer surrounded by sparkly butterflies as you slide down rainbows and have a braiding-hairfest. How fun is that? Cupcakes rain down from the sky and then it's GLITTER FIGHT time. Oh boy can't wait! Love to sparkle and shine!
Who can resist joining in and having a blast? Uh oh! An impostor is spotted. He's definitely not a unicorn. What do you think they will do? Will they send him away and banish him from partaking in their joyous festivities or will they wrap their legs ( and hooves) around him, give him a group hug, and be friendly?
This excellent rhyming book explodes with vibrant colours, animated activity, joyful attitudes and is loads of fun! Kids will delight in the energy and happiness that the unicorns share with each of the participants in a day set aside to celebrate who they are. It's a book about inclusion, friendship and uniqueness. Kids will love the positive message that I am sure will be contagious and be passed on to others around them. I love the book and highly recommend it.
Hooray for Unicorn Day! My four year old gave it 5 stars! And said when can we get the actual book, I hope it has glitter in it. We read it through twice so, it obviously has her stamp of approval. It is an adorable book, very brightly colored and illustrated. I thought the message was good of including everyone in your group and overall just celebrating a fun day. It has cute rhymes in it. The younger crowd who love unicorns, rainbows, and cupcakes will certainly love it. Well done. I received an e-book advanced copy in exchange for my review and I will be buying the book when it comes out.
Unicorn Day was a sweet fun story about spending time being a unicorn. The story of acceptance, differences and joy!
