Mimi is in for an adventure on the way to meet her Father, who has just moved! Mimi is so full of life and the characters are all so light hearted and fun, which is to be expected in most of Jill Mansell’s books. An enjoyable story!
Jill Mansell excels in writing the ultimate feel good book. You will be left with a big smile on your face after reading this one. She has an amazing ability to create hugely likeable but also relatable characters. The plot of this one is heartwarming and engaging. I’ve read all of her books but this is definitely one of my favourites.
This is Jill Mansell at her best. She begins this beautiful story with brilliant descriptive writing and you could be easily fooled into thinking it's another predictable love story scenario but there are many twists and turns along the way both happy and sad. I will be recommending this book to all my friends who love this author. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this
Such a lovely book, i love Jill Mansell's books and this one didn't disappoint.
Coming in from London Mimi visits her father Dan & his partner Marcus in the lovely Goosebrook village in the Cotswolds, she discovers they haven't yet been to the local pub or socialized with the other villagers. and feels they are afraid there will be side whispers because they are gay, Bullying them into visiting the pub one evening with her, they have a wonderful time, are accepted warmly by the villagers and encouraged to get involved in all the activities the villagers put on.
Mimi has also run into Cal whom she is very attracted to, but soon discovers he has a wonderful warm caring wife Stacey and a little girl Cora.
Mimi returns to London as she has a good job as a PR which she loves. But she is faced with a sadness that makes her go running back to Gooosebrook, to lick her wounds and bury herself away to heal.
The story unfolds in a pleasant way with believable likable characters but has a tragedy that made me gasp and sad it also had situations that made me smile.
It had a warmth about it that made me feel like i was curled up in an armchair in front of a roaring fire.
I loved every page as it was a boy meets girl, the frustrations and tribulations of will they won't they and the barriers that kept cropping up to stall them.
If you want a lovely story that makes you feel like you've been cuddled this one is for you.
Congratulations Jill another triumph
Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity x
I have enjoyed past books by the author Jill Mansell. I am thankful for Netgalley for allowing me to have an advanced read of this one!
I was a bit nervous at the beginning of this story, the deaths of Stacy and Dan kind of took a turn and I was concerned. This turned out to be an important part of the story to learn about grief.
I loved the love story in this novel and truly fell in love with the characters and their connections!
On her first visit to the Cotswold village of Goosebrook, Mimi Huish meets Cal, and is immediately attracted to him. On her next visit, she meets Stacey, his wife. While she is disappointed to learn he’s married, she instantly becomes friends with Stacey, and with Cal and Stacey’s help, convinces her father and his partner that the town’s inhabitants welcome them.
Then a horrible accident changes not only Mimi’s and Cal’s lives, but forever alters Goosebrook. Over the next few years, as everyone works their way back from tragedy to a new normal, Mimi and Cal’s relationship strengthens.
Maybe This Time is so much more than just a romance. Although it tackles serious problems, the book has so much humor and love, it isn’t sad. Mimi and Cal are relatable main characters, but the novel’s secondary characters add a lot of depth.
I’m not sure why this is the first Jill Mansell book I’ve read. I’ve been missing out!
Lighthearted and easy to read as always. A little predictable but this in no way spoils the fun! Lovely escapism for cold evenings.
Jimm Mansell is the QUEEN! She has only gone and done it again! Brilliant read with again great relatable characters.
Jill Mansell always writes a fun romance. I like that she has several romances going on in one book, and even though it is pretty obvious the two main characters are going to get together and the end it's always a delight to follow their adventure. Highly recommend.
Jill Mansell has been my favourite women's fiction author for years and I always look forward to her new release every year in January. This January has been particularly cold and dreary and I eagerly started this one as soon as it was released. It was like a warm hug on a cold day!
I devoured this book in only two days! The story is one that you have likely encountered before; girl likes boy, boy likes girl, but will they figure out how they feel about one another in time? The fact that the story was familiar made it no less enjoyable. Mansell writes in a way that is at once comforting but makes me want to turn the pages as fast as I can to find out what comes next. Her writing is enjoyable and her characters impossible not to both love and root for. Mimi, her main character in MAYBE THIS TIME, is flawed yet determined to make the best of the circumstances foisted upon her.
Full of "aww" moments, as well as moments of anticipation while we wait to find out if our main characters will realize their feelings for one another, this book was enjoyable for me from beginning to end. This is perfect light reading for while you're on vacation somewhere warm, or for when you are cuddled under a blanket on a cold day.
I loved this one. I am a fan of Jill Mansell and I always enjoy her books.
This one was a slow burn, but it was worth the wait for the romance. I truly enjoyed it and recommend.
Fantastic story. I enjoyed each character and their unique storylines. I couldn’t put the book down and now I’m wishing it wasn’t over. I guess I’ll just have to read it again!
Maybe This Time is a sort of romance drama story. Mimi works in London in PR. She visits her father in Goosebrooke in the Cotswolds. Several plot twists later, Mimi moves to Goosebrooke. It's a quaint little place with quirky residents. The setting of the story is lovely and charming. Mimi is likeable and complex. It's a bit romcom and a bit sad. Fans of Jill Mansell are sure to enjoy it. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was a book full of great characters and a full story including them all. I feel like I could go to Goosebrook and know everyone instantly. I enjoyed this latest book by Jill Mansell and felt joy, despair, frustration, anticipation and all those lovely “feels” you get from a good book.
I have always enjoyed books by this author and this is no exception. Mimi's evolution as she grew as a person, gained confidence in what she wanted and stood up for herself was a great story in and of itself. Despite many tragedies, she kept going. I would love to have a sequel about CJ and Willa.
I was swept away by Maybe this time! I haven't had the luxury of reading many of the authors books in the past, but after reading this one and immersing myself in the beautiful setting and connecting with the gorgeous characters you can bet that will change! Anyone who is a fan of chick lit and women's fiction novels are going to want to pick this one up- it's not to be missed!
When I think of romance comedy novels I always think of Jill Mansell. Maybe This Time is my favorite book by her. It’s cute, funny, and had me rooting for the main character the entire time.
Maybe This Time by Jill Mansell is a delightful read from beginning to end. I had high expectations for this book as a longtime fan of Ms Mansell's, and I was not disappointed. For me, reading a novel by Jill Mansell is tantamount to indulging in a decadent treat and, as usual, this latest offering was supremely satisfying.
The central character of the novel is Mimi, a London based PR whiz, who makes the trek to the Cotswolds to visit her father Dan, and his partner Marcus, who have recently taken up residence in the village of Goosebrook. Mimi is immediately charmed by the village and, in particular, its colourful residents. Through a series of twists and crises, the plot advances four years on, when Mimi herself decides to make a permanent relocation to the village, where she is almost immediately swept up in the joys, dramas, and trials of village life, including a potential romance of her own.
Set in the gorgeous Cotswolds and, briefly, in Spain, this novel has all of the warmth, charm, and colourful cast of imperfect, yet lovable, characters that I have come to associate with Jill Mansell. Absolutely recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for this fabulous ARC.
I have never been as excited about a book being approved for me as I was about this one.
I LOVE Jill Mansell and I've recently reread a lot of her books so I was so glad to hear she had another coming out soon and then even more thrilled to set on netgalley.
I was a bit wary at the beginning of this story, after the deaths of Stacey and Dan, that Stacey had been killed off to pave the way for Mimi and Cal but this wasn't the case: they died and from that came amazing character growth, grieving and healing.
I especially loved the story of Lois and Felix and the change of balance in their relationship and how her own self consciousness was then reflected in how Felix treated her after the accident and that he just loved her so much! Ugh! I loved everything about this book and Cal is my new favourite. I genuinely don't know how she does it but, yet again, Jill Mansell has managed to write a book that makes me cry, laugh, rage and sigh! I will definitely be purchasing a copy for the bookshelf when it's released! 5 stars!
